Is there any way we can get it out or do we have to call in some kind of pest control?

It fucking squealed like a rat when i had it by its tail. Urrgggh, was grim.

Wouldn't you if something as large to you, as you are to it, picked you up, upside down, someone with a licence to kill. (Sorry 007)

Isn't it illegal to not kill a grey squirrel if you have one trapped?

No.

They are legally ( and actually) pests.

Rollergirl11 · 27/05/2023 09:10

There are loads of them in our garden. Our kitchen doors were wide open and I think it must have come in and then got chased in to the house by our 9 month old kitten. Heard the cacophony as it ran up the stairs and watched it disappear in to my DD’s bedroom followed by the cat. Worst room to go in to though as there is so much crap in her room, under her bed!

We had an injured/poisoned?squirrel in our garden yesterday only able to crawl round in circles with its head on one side. Was obvious it was on its way out, and really pitiful to see. Neither dh or I could face putting it out of its misery, so I called the local vets, and they said they wouldn’t see wildlife suffer, so we managed to get it in a box (was still quite feisty when cornered, but couldn’t move to get away) and took it to the vets to be pts. V thankful they agreed to deal with the poor creature.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 27/05/2023 09:13

@watcherintherye it was probably the loser in an inter-squirrel conflict. They fight for territory during the breeding season.

Scare it out from under the bed then chuck a sheet over it. Film it for tiktok amd start your social media career.

😂😂😂

immediately thinks of the video with the Irish family with the bat 😂

Got it out! DH and I managed to corner it. I grabbed it’s tail and pulled it out, threw a towel over it and dumped it in a cat carrier and released it back in to the garden.

At one comical moment it jumped on to DH’s back and climbed up on to his shoulder. He looked like some kind of deranged nature presenter!

I’ve got a few scratches. What a way to start the weekend!!!

😂well done !!

Ah, that’s interesting. I hadn’t thought of that. We wondered if it had a spinal injury, as it didn’t seem able to get up from ground level.

It is @Allthegoodnamesarechosen .

GladysHeeler · 27/05/2023 10:00

I'm not saying I would (of could) have killed it either. It's just interesting.

Well gone OP, I can't believe you managed to grab its tail! Shock

viques · 27/05/2023 10:03

GladysHeeler · 27/05/2023 08:50

I've looked it up and it's 'illegal to release a grey squirrel' so you will have to go on the run from the law once it's out of your house.

Don’t worry OP, paint some bars on the window, accidentally leave the window open, then you have not released the squirrel, it has escaped.

MustardCress · 27/05/2023 10:05

Well done!

You can’t blame them for fighting back can you. Imagine being a tiny squirrel and having great big humans grabbing at you and thinking you are about to be eaten. I admire their feistiness in the face of almost certain death!

makes Me cry with laughter every time - if you Google that video and add in Jimmy Kimmel you’ll see the family interviewed, almost as hilarious 😂

OnedayIwillfeelfree · 27/05/2023 16:56

If you want to kill it, quickest way is drowning. It will be unconscious in 10 seconds.
