Do you put tinned tomato in omelette?

I'm watching an episode of "eat well for less" and they're putting tinned tomatoes in their omelette like it's perfectly normal?

Is that a thing? I really can't see how that would taste nice but ready to hear otherwise!

No, that sounds weird

AlisonDonut · 24/05/2023 22:32

Nope.

PermanentTemporary · 24/05/2023 22:33

In NO universe is that normal.

Did someone decide to make huevos rancheros and then have a psychotic break?

ArseMenagerie · 24/05/2023 22:34

That sounds revolting

dalmatianmad · 24/05/2023 22:35

Sounds vile 😫

TiggerthePooh · 24/05/2023 22:36

Ah thank you! Revolting is the word that came to my mind too!

Sounds grim. Which episode was it?

Changingplace · 24/05/2023 22:37

No, ugh that sounds awful!! I’d put a chopped up fresh tomato in but no way not tinned!

LubaLuca · 24/05/2023 22:37

It sounds very sloppy and I imagine it would look like partly congealed vomit when served.

BonnieGlasses · 24/05/2023 22:38

Yuck no! That would be...sloppy. I sometimes chop up an actual tomato to put in though.

SpringIntoChaos · 24/05/2023 22:39

Wouldn't it just turn into a soggy mess? 🤢

AiryFairy1 · 24/05/2023 22:39

I’ve had tinned tomatoes in scrambled egg, lots of salt pepper and some cheese grated in … quite delicious imho Grin

SmoothSeasDoNotMakeGoodSailors · 24/05/2023 22:40

I am guessing they were drained and they didn't just chuck the juice in too. Grim.

I was going to say shakshuka is lovely so I wouldn't mind the flavour, I think it's the texture that I can't make seem a good idea in my head.

That ^^
Maybe on the side... but not in it

HappiDaze · 24/05/2023 23:01

I agree it's definitely 🤮

TheRainMustFall · 24/05/2023 23:03

I don’t know... if you could somehow craft a sort of egg calzone with pulped tomatoes inside the omelette exterior, I reckon it could be quite nice. But that sounds tricky, so I imagine this is runny egg with runny tomato? Which does sound disgusting.

SalviaDivinorum · 24/05/2023 23:17

No! There is absolutely no way I could ever eat that

I loathe tinned tomatoes though

EwwSprouts · 24/05/2023 23:18

Absolutely not. Yuk.

Esjolaol1973 · 24/05/2023 23:18

How revolting 🤢

TomatoSandwiches · 24/05/2023 23:24

Only on the side.... not mixed in ever it would totally take over the flavour of eggs.

mrsbyers · 24/05/2023 23:27

Eggs with tomato is a really popular Chinese dish

Orders76 · 25/05/2023 00:03

I was thinking about heuvoruous rancheros too. I think the trick is draining then super heating the tomatoes before adding eggs.

tobee · 25/05/2023 00:09

There's a Greek meze dish which is scrambled eggs and tomato (think it can be garlicky and you can also add feta) it's absolutely delicious
