Apparently most people have 6 meals they make on a loop? How about you?

Some random study I read.

It's probably about right..

stirfry
fajitas
a roast of some kind (not every week)
salmon and veg
sea bass with veg
fishfingers chips and peas (or similar)
a curry - usually prawn.

I’d say I rotate about 20-25 recipes.

@neverenoughchelseaboots haha you're amazing! Thank you so much for taking the time to post this!
just another question if you don't mind, do you live by the coast to get your crab? I dont, they have it in our supermarket about ten miles away in the fish counter, but obviously with my username I love crab meat lol.

I get lump crab from Tesco in a tin so crab linguine is actually our emergency store cupboard meal.

DH is originally from the coast and when we visit his family we have fresh crab and it’s amazing. But the tinned stuff is definitely good enough for a mid week meal.

I’m a bit sad that the one year old has a taste for it now and we have to share it.

In full agreement. Who has the time for that even. It's a bit much.

I'd say each to their own, but claiming to be 'shocked and depressed' by those of us on the thread lost my sympathy.

Quite. Too much stealth boasting as usual.

cooking like that requires time, often money and a family without fussy eaters/ allergies or whatever.

As long as people are happy and fed with reasonably healthy food….

Wow!
I'm shocked.
And depressed.

We generally go at least 2 months without repeating meals (with possible exception of spag bol or chilli).

I go through phases of ticking off meals on a list and a rough count on that list is over 60 variations.
I can't imagine eating the same each week.

Really?

You've ticked what looks like pizza four times. The rest is heavy on the meat and carbs, with some occasional fish and carbs.

I'd be fucking depressed if I had to live on that all the time.

Strathyre · 26/05/2023 14:21

I do, party influenced by my toddlers not giving me much time to cook. I try at least to vary the veg we have with/in them. Before I had kids I rarely repeated amd was much more adventurous.
Spaghetti bolognese type thing
Chicken thighs or drumsticks roasted with veg and/or potatoes
Lentil curry with yoghurt
Bean stew often with cheese
Breaded cod or haddock with potatoes and veg

ASGIRC · 26/05/2023 14:45

I batch cook one meal a week, as I go out for dinner a few times a week as well.

And yes, I do rotate my meals, though obviously there is quite some time between them:

Meatballs/mince with spaghetti
Tuna pasta
white wine pork
bacon and cream pasta
chicken fajitas
Chicken/turkey steaks

MysteryBelle · 26/05/2023 16:12

S Roast chicken with variations
M Pasta various iterations
T Tacos or wraps
W Hamburgers
T soup
F Fish and chips or salmon with lemon broccoli
S Pizza

declutteringmymind · 26/05/2023 16:33

There's nothing wrong with having a few meals and rotating them though is there? I'm a foodie but there's nothing wrong with repeating things if that's what you like or if it's what works for you. Some people don't have an option with it.

Repetition brings comfort and consistency.

Rotormotor · 26/05/2023 16:36

I eat beans on toast at least twice a week…the horror!

Zippedydoo123 · 26/05/2023 16:46

My repertoire is four different evening meals. Then rinse and repeat.

RL24 · 27/05/2023 15:52

We eat very similar stuff as well. Easy to make and nutrious!

My kids are not keen on anything vaguely adventurous, so it's all quite basic!!

CornishGem1975 · 29/05/2023 18:13

I've just done our weekly shop and we're having four new recipes this week!
