How much do you think this face painting would cost?

DD had her face painted almost exactly like this at the weekend and I still can't get over how much it cost 😂
Any guesses?? I want to know whether the artist was taking the mickey or I'm really out of touch!

Readytogogogo · 23/05/2023 19:39

dementedpixie · 23/05/2023 19:39

£8-£10

bibbityboppityboo · 23/05/2023 19:39

Are we talking child DC at a party, or teenage / adult DC getting it done for a night out? I'd think £5 for the first one, £20-30 for the second?

DontBegDontFollow · 23/05/2023 19:44

It was for my 4 year old at a village fete. It was £8 so it appears I am indeed out of touch! I know, it's not just about the few minutes time + small amount of makeup, it's their insurance, overheads, fuel etc etc. I was just really surprised as I was expecting a fiver at most.

I would have said £5. £8 seems really expensive!!

SugarAndSpike · 23/05/2023 19:50

I'm out of touch too but I would have said a fiver.

cherry2727 · 23/05/2023 19:51

I would have said £2.50!!! Blimey Thats extortionate!!

Partytastic · 23/05/2023 19:53

I would say doing it and clean up would take about 10 mins, add in materials, transport, insurance, pension and sick pay £8 seems reasonable.

Hugasauras · 23/05/2023 19:53

I think that's expensive. We've had DD's face painted a lot recently (fetes and various events) and each time has been £3-4 for a much more elaborate one. The last one had glitter and a matching flower hair clip!

PaddlingPoollyColour · 23/05/2023 19:55

That is expensive imo. But my DCs used to get theirs painted by the nursery staff who did the nursery fetes themselves! They were really, really good at it too

WWGDD · 23/05/2023 19:56

£3-£5 as there's not much to it

LetUsPonce · 23/05/2023 19:57

I am absolutely gobsmacked. I used to do face painting at charity events. That is appalling work and wouldn't have taken more than 10 minutes, a good part of which would have been drying time. £8!!!

Hedjwitch · 23/05/2023 19:58

£5 max

Newname47 · 23/05/2023 19:59

Wow, we're charging a quid for that at the school fete!

Itdoesnthavetobejusrol · 23/05/2023 20:00

That's not a whole face - just one eye and a very simple design. I wouldn't pay more than £4 as they could do 6/8 of those in an hour (they let the base dry while they start the next person)

PerfectYear321 · 23/05/2023 20:02

£3

What insurance? 🤔

NuffSaidSam · 23/05/2023 20:05

I think £8 for that is really expensive, especially at a village fete!

Face painting has got to be one of the biggest wastes of money available. It's up there with the plastic crap you get in party bags for the absolute pointlessness of it.

PerfectYear321 · 23/05/2023 20:02

What insurance? 🤔

Public liability but it's not very expensive

itsmellslikepopcarn · 23/05/2023 20:14

DD had hers done at Chester zoo recently, it was £7 and not even any good! Her school do it for £1 at their fairs.

Rockschooldropout · 23/05/2023 20:15

Chester make their retail staff do the painting , they have no experience and rubbish products to use .. it’s just greed ..

Dacadactyl · 23/05/2023 20:17

Bloody hell, I'd have said £3.50 at a push!

And for 8 quid, I'd have wanted most of it to have gone to a charity.

User1438423 · 23/05/2023 20:17

I would expect to pay £2-5 for a face paint. Wouldn't pay more. Those rainbow ones are quick to do too, not exactly a whole face. At Bewilderwood they have got it right, facepaint is free with your entry, and they offer only one design per day, it's a stencil so if takes them about 10 seconds, 30 seconds including getting them seated and asking what colour they want so there are little to no queues. I wish more places would do simpler designs and less choices, I loathe long face paint queues for complex designs. At parties my kids choose not to bother because they don't want to waste half the party queueing.

Weedoormatnomore · 23/05/2023 20:22

Looks like a quick design only couple of mins to do plus bit of glitter. 8 pounds seems over priced.
