How much do you think this face painting would cost?

DD had her face painted almost exactly like this at the weekend and I still can't get over how much it cost 😂
Any guesses?? I want to know whether the artist was taking the mickey or I'm really out of touch!

I would have guessed a fiver at most

Oh my goodness I was going to say £4!

That's not a whole face - just one eye and a very simple design. I wouldn't pay more than £4 as they could do 6/8 of those in an hour (they let the base dry while they start the next person)

FYI. Pro painter here; We absolutely do not let ‘the base dry whilst we do another’

Id charge £5 for this and I can do about 15 an hour.

£3

What insurance? 🤔

Public Liability Insurance - incase someone complains about allergies or getting face paint on the child’s £500 jumper

I think £8 for that is really expensive, especially at a village fete!

Face painting has got to be one of the biggest wastes of money available. It's up there with the plastic crap you get in party bags for the absolute pointlessness of it.

Plastic crap takes years to decompose but your Insta memories are forever!

🤣 me too!

£8 is a bit pricy, totally agree.

…but £2.50? Im not busting myself out there painting for dolly mixtures!

I used to facepaint, some events I would have charged £8-£10 for that, others would be about £4. It totally depends how much you get charged as a stallholder.

Insurance isn't too much a year, probably around £80, materials can be pretty expensive, then there's tax and NI to pay too. There's practise materials to take into account, courses, the time learning all the different pokemon various characters, and figuring out how to do, for example, frozen or enchanto. I had a yearly DBS check too, and took a 3 yearly first aid courses. Theres actually a lot more to having a facepainting business than a lot of people think.
