Have you ever taken a day off work because of period pain?

My DD is 14 months old and yesterday I had my first period since she was born. I’ve been feeling really sick and dizzy from the period pain. I rang in sick as I couldn’t imagine sitting in the office all day with this pain.

Hell yes!

Yes - when I ended up in A&E (endometriosis and adenomyosis). Prior to that was taking stupid amounts of painkillers to function. Thank goodness, I was able to have a hysterectomy.

Yes. I was sent home as I kept passing out from the pain

I haven't but I was "lucky" that my first post-baby period was over Christmas when I was off anyway. I would have needed a day or two off otherwise, it was horrendous! I went back on the pill the following month.

Going through the beginning of the menopause I had periods where all the blood left my body in 2 days. It was horrendous. I used a super plus plus tampon, maternity night time pad and within 20 mins was flooded. I couldn't even drive in as my journey took 50 mins and when I got out of the car it was like I was having a miscarriage it was so bad. Blood was running down my legs. I was a teacher so I felt really guilty. I had to send in an online learning lesson for them so basically PowerPoint and worksheets plus essay title. It was only the first day of each period the second day was also bad but I could just about cope. I got transanemic acid from my GP which helped a bit.
