Most UNDERRATED destination you've visited

I thought it would be just as interesting to hear about places visited where you had very low expectations, and were pleasantly surprised by how much these were exceeded.

I will start with three:
Turin, Italy
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Portsmouth, England

Brussels! We went inter-railing through there on our trip around Europe (many years ago now!) and were really surprised at how nice it was.

I had really low expectations of Krakow, I'm not sure why that was but I loved it and have been back twice more.
Glasgow.

I don't know why people are questioning Swindon. A relative of mine lived there and I often visited, and even stayed for a few months when I was young. There's nothing wrong with Swindon, it's actually quite nice, and it's loads better than other places. It really is underrated!

That doesn't make France under rated. Or over rated. Just somewhere you find disappointing.

Germany, in general, is really underrated. Wiesbaden (for example) is a lovely town.
