What’s Happening In Your House?

I need cheering up as have Covid - always enjoy these threads. It’s really knocked me for six. Supposed to be going back to work this week but will have to see how it goes. DH has had it too but got over it pretty quickly, although he’s still coughing a bit & gets tired. DD14 tested positive initially then realised she had accidentally used DH’s little stick. Her 2nd test was negative.
DH was going to make his famous sausage pasta for tea but because he’s been working hard all day, I suggested having something with chips instead. Sausage chips & beans it is! Cafe tea as my friend calls it.
I’ve been enjoying watching the bunnies today. They are always a joy & very good therapy. Our newest rabbit definitely thinks she is a house rabbit. We have to keep an eye on her as she tries to eat all sorts!
DH has just put Paddington 2 on so might watch that. Love those films!

I am currently trying (and failing) to get my 2YO to bed. I became a single parent two weeks ago and it's still really hard.

Yesterday we went for a walk in the woods and did the grocery shop, and had pizza for tea. Today she saw STBXH for a few hours, so I did some jobs and walked the dogs. It was a gorgeous walk, everything is luscious and green, and our village is on a hill with lots of fields and footpaths. Then we went to DM's for a roast and a few cups of tea. Which takes us to now. And the bedtime which isn't happening..!

Hope you enjoy your tea. I'm hoping to go and eat some chocolate orange cookies with a cuppa soon (cross your fingers for me!).

Hellocatshome · 21/05/2023 19:11

I'm in the bath. I've been helping DS1 prepare for an interview for an apprenticeship and finding it really hard to guide him without putting words in his mouth. He needs to be able to answer the questions they ask not just parrot back what I've told him. He should now be revising as Chemistry and Geography GCSE exams tomorrow. DS2 id having a lazy day as swam his first open water race of the season yesterday and back to swim training in the morning. DH is now 'relaxing' after a taxing day of fixing the guttering. When I say fixing I mean his version which involved gaffer tape and very little skill so we will see how that goes.

AppropriateAdult · 21/05/2023 19:14

Procrastinating on my phone though I really should be putting DS2 to bed. Have had a nice, quiet day; it's been sunny here so did some weeding in the garden and DH cut the grass. Earlier I got out to a coffee shop for an hour or two to get some work done on a project in the (relative!) peace and quiet. Have just put away a load of laundry. Really must get youngest child up the stairs now!

Sorry pressed send too quickly.

We went on a really lovely hike this morning and took a picnic. Then we came home and did a bit of gardening, followed by a bbq which we’ve just finished. We had some of the neighbours over. Perfect day!

cptartapp · 21/05/2023 19:17

Just had a barbecue. DH watching Man City lift the cup (big fan) and DS2 taken himself off for a bath. He was 18 on Friday and is knackered after a weekend of celebrations.
Lovely weekend.

tatteddear · 21/05/2023 19:19

Just back from
Work. Dd1 in her room sulking because I asked her earlier to hang some washing out and she said no in a horribly teenage way and got a big telling off. Dd2 revising for gcse physics. Dh, and DSS's out walking the dogs.
I've swept the ground floor of the house as it was filthy and now
I've just settled down with a bottle of beer to watch the golf for a bit.
I had covid over Easter and it was the worst I've ever felt so you have my sympathies OP.

moomoolander · 21/05/2023 19:20

House is a tip. But 6 year old is in bed awake and the baby is asleep. I'm chilling out on the bed upstairs and DH is downstairs watching Basketball holding the baby sleeping.

GoGoJasonWaterfalls · 21/05/2023 19:20

I've had my best friend and DS's godmother round for tea so did a lovely lasagne with salad. DH doing bedtime and I'm relaxing with a gin. No idea what to watch on TV tonight after finishing Colin from Accounts last night.

Yahyahs22 · 21/05/2023 19:21

Just put the kids to bed. Although they're not asleep yet..can still hear them chatting away.
Then I'm going to mop the floors, put the clean clothes away and finally watch this Rolf Harris documentary.

Today I went food shopping and spent most of the afternoon at MIL'S. Was a nice, relaxed day.

MrsTulip · 21/05/2023 19:33

DS9 is getting dressed after his bath, DH is cooking evening meal, I'm mucking about on here. We will eat in about 10 minutes. Oh and I can also hear next door giving her DH a mouthful.

Earlier today me and DS went to church. Then this afternoon DH took Ds to see his grandparents (DH parents) whilst I did some food shopping, laundry and a bit of work ready for school tomorrow.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 21/05/2023 19:34

Yahyahs22 what channel is that on?

riotlady · 21/05/2023 20:15

DD is fast asleep, 10 mins after getting into bed which is unusual for her! We have been outside most of the weekend so think it must be all the fresh air and running around. DH is working so I’m going to watch xo Kitty on Netflix and eat some frozen pizza. House is unusually actually quite tidy and I’ve just brought the washing in and it smells lovely.

mommybear1 · 21/05/2023 20:23

DH is just putting DS5 to bed I'm finally sitting down with a mint tea and trying to keep my eyes open. We had family over today and there was a lot of cooking, faffing and entertaining going on. I think I have 30 minutes in me before I slope off to bed 🤣😂.

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 21/05/2023 20:25

I love these threads! I'm on my own as DH is nights and DS has gone over to his girlfriend's. I'm just back from the gym so am chilled. I'll potter about tidying then have a shower. I'm off tomorrow so it's a nice feeling.

Whattodo121 · 21/05/2023 20:30

Ds is in the bath-all packed for his first school residential tomorrow 😳 he will be fine and have a great time, I am a bit nervous! I’m in pjs, faffing on my phone. I need to go downstairs in a minute and put the chickens away and get the dog in.

Bluelightbaby · 21/05/2023 20:34

Ive been doing house work all day, house is gleaming ! Nipped put to do my horse, came back and the cats have been sick on my freshly made bed and lounge carpet !!!

cleaned it up and now looking at wedding venues !

anaconda1831 · 21/05/2023 20:36

DP is watching the baseball and I’m sat scrolling mumsnet, DS is in bed after a bath. We had a productive day sorting out some boxes we haven’t touched since moving 6 months ago, went to a vintage kilo sale with DS in the pram and bagged some bargains and had pizza for tea

MissingMoominMamma · 21/05/2023 20:39

I had a lazy morning, then went for a long walk with the dogs. DH and DS were both working. When DH got home at 3, he went and got a table at the pub and the dogs and I met him for lunch.

Now I’m upstairs, lying on the bed, with two of the dogs and the cat. DH and DS are chatting downstairs about sport.

I can hear lots of birds in the garden- it’s lovely.

LBOCS2 · 21/05/2023 20:41

DD1 is in the shower, singing, in our en-suite and DD2 and I are cuddled up in my bed watching an episode of Ghosts. They should have been in bed 8 minutes ago but DSis got back from holiday on Friday and has been over for a roast dinner (followed by apple crumble, of course), and they only left at 8.15 which has rather set bedtime back a bit!

We've had a lovely weekend. Highlight was two new family members - baby Guinea piggies who are very cute, to keep our older girl company. She seems to have settled with them ok and they're all chittering away at us.

Dacadactyl · 21/05/2023 20:41

DS10 in bed. DD16 getting her school bag ready for tomorrow. DH is ironing the kids uniforms and I'm sat on here procrastinating when I should be preparing the dinner for 2m night.

Chelsea26 · 21/05/2023 20:44

We’re lying on the sofa catching up on Masterchef after a busy weekend with friends to stay.

Was lovely to see them and we had a bit of a party last night with some other friends over so today I have slowly sorted the house out and put all beds/clothes/stuff back where it should be.

DP has had a crohns flare up so has been in bed most of the day but is down with me now.

My boys went home this morning and his kids went home this afternoon so just us for the next few days.

Pebbles16 · 21/05/2023 20:45

DH is watching his favourite football team about to win their national league (not England). I have just had a glorious shower ahead of getting into clean bedding this evening (bliss). Also chatting to my sis on the other side of the world planning our 'once in a lifetime' travel adventure in a few weeks. It's all quite delightful

bloodywhitecat · 21/05/2023 20:49

The small person was offered a two night stay at our children's hospice so is there having a sleep over while I can't quite get my head around the fact that I don't have to do midnight medications and turn their little body in bed every couple of hours. I am vegging out on the sofa, just finished a Mars bar and I might make myself a coffee in a minute. I am planning how to spend tomorrow, it is my second wedding anniversary but there will be no cards or celebrations because I have been a widow now for 16 months. I might take my camera and go and investigate a nature reserve.
