I'm so desperate.

I need a mattress that's not going to dip fuck you Simba after a few months.

Even better if you're able to post a link to the mattress you still love.

My poor back 😭

If I were to get an ikea one, I'd have to get an ikea bed frame for it to fit wouldn't I?
I heard their mattresses aren't the same sizes as the English ones

They are English sizes now with some EU options, we are struggling to get a super king long enough for our current Ikea bed, but I'm loathe to get a new bed.

nondescriptusernane · 16/05/2023 19:11

Definitely not an Emma. 5 yrs and needs to be replaced. Check Trustpilot for reviews.

We bought the Premier Inn mattress. DH and I work away quite a bit and have to use PI for overnight stays and we also stay there for leisure trips away. We've always found the mattresses to be really comfortable. Much better to have slept on one for a few nights rather than having a ten minute lie down on one in a bed shop. That bit us on the bum with our previous mattress!

Had it a few years now. No dipping and still really comfy. They are made to order so it took about 4-5 weeks from ordering to arrival. It also comes with a topper.

We've since bought the pillows as well - 2 firm and 2 soft - and they have lasted longer than any other pillows we have had before. I seriously recommend both the mattress and pillows.

You could do worse than finding a local PI and book in for a cheap stay just to test it out.

We've had a John Lewis Back Care mattress for 17 years and it is still as firm and comfortable as when we got it. It cost about £1000. I don't think they do that particular one anymore but they might be able to tell you if they have something similar.

NeedToKnow101 · 16/05/2023 19:27

I've got an ikea Hovag. Had it around 10 years and it hasn't dipped at all. I must love it as o spend an inordinate amount of time in it.

GeraltsBathtub · 16/05/2023 19:28

We have an IKEA pocket sprung mattress that still looks like it did when we bought it 5 years ago - it’s a standard sized double. Ours is a Hamarvik but I think that exact one is discontinued now.

So do I.
We we're really strict with the rotation because of the money it cost.

I need a firm mattress because of my back. My Simba is definitely not firm now and definitely dips.
Im not overweight and I only share the bed with my 4 year old. Yet it's absolutely had it.

Unfortunately there's a whole host of people online that have suffered the same fate.

My Simba dips too. I sleep alone and currently 2st overweight (BMI) but when I have been the correct weight it dipped. It was fine for the first couple of months then went rubbish. I rotate a lot, which is difficult to do with a king size when you live alone. I am currently waking up in the night and moving to the other side of the bed! I want to buy a new one but feel I need to persevere a bit longer due to the price I paid. In another year or so I can justify a new one. I am keeping an eye on the thread as don't want to get caught out again!

Dh and I have a latex one from Heals. It's over 24 years old and still really comfy with no dips 😅

We have a Dunlopillo latex mattress from John Lewis. Goodness knows how old it is now, must be about the same as yours but it is still as comfy as the day we bought it.

We also have an Emma.......rubbish!!!

eleflump · 16/05/2023 20:01

Agree with John Ryan by Design - had ours 8 years now, no dips and after sales support is excellent.

HelloDoris · 16/05/2023 20:02

Premier Inn Hypnos mattress, over 5 years old and still in perfect shape. I have yet to sleep on anything better!

SOMumm · 16/05/2023 20:03

Hypnos

TokyoStories · 16/05/2023 20:37

I have an Eve. I find it really comfortable. I’ve had it for 6 years and there’s no dip, but I’ve read about lots of bad experiences with the company.

I wouldn’t buy memory foam again since discovering how environmentally unfriendly it is.

fluffiphlox · 16/05/2023 20:41

We bought the second most expensive John Lewis own-brand mattress about ten years ago. (£££). It was the best money we have ever spent. We rotate and flip it regularly. It weighs a ton but it has been so comfortable.

CoQ10 · 16/05/2023 20:46

Hypnos. ❤️

eyesopened1979 · 16/05/2023 20:47

I heard you are supposed to change your mattress every 7 years. Is that right?
I've got a tempur which I love

Lapland123 · 16/05/2023 20:47

Tempur

Once you try Tempur, nothing else will do!

twilightsleepiness · 16/05/2023 20:54

We have a staples firm mattress. It's about 25 years old now but was in my parents'
Spare room for about 15 years and never used. They bought it in the sale from Harrods, randomly. Parents were defo lower middle class which is why a harrods purchase was a bit random! We convinced them to give it to us and it's been amazing. Just checked online and apparently only Bensons for beds now sell staples mattresses but they have been in business since 1895. Gotta be a reason for that!

Spanielsarepainless · 16/05/2023 21:04

Top of the range from M&S. Nice and firm but with an integral down topper. There are shallow hollows where we sleep, but that's because it's natural fibres. It hasn't dipped. It's turned every month. Had it ten years and I am not inclined to replace it yet.

newtowelsplease · 16/05/2023 21:53

I wasn't a fan of tempur. I need a firm mattress and we are coming up to 5 years with one of these:

otty.com/products/the-otty-hybrid-mattress

I absolutely love it. It's still perfect, hasn't dipped at all and we are two large people.

Good customer service too in sticking to their sleep trial period. I bought one for my son after he complained about how much comfier my bed was and said his mattress was uncomfortable. When he changed his mind after about 10 nights they took it back with no questions asked and I got a full refund.

snarkyrooster · 16/05/2023 22:02

I recently (last year) got an ikea, supposedly the best Which recommended one. It supposedly isn't meant to be turned! Anyway, about a year after getting it started sagging. So I turned it over, and it was firm and fine on the other side. I will keep turning it over, even though it isn't recommended to do so (one sided). It's not uncomfortable on the other side.

I did the same with my last (Ikea) mattress, it turned it from lasting maybe 1-2 years with sagging to about 7 years with the turning.

So just to say anyone with an Ikea mattress that is unsure whether to turn their "single sided" mattress, give it a go, it works and is fine.

Okunevo · 16/05/2023 22:17

I have an IKEA sprung mattress that cost about £100 and it has no dips after over five years.
