I'm so desperate.

I need a mattress that's not going to dip fuck you Simba after a few months.

Even better if you're able to post a link to the mattress you still love.

My poor back 😭

Ditch the foam type ones and get a classic spring one

LadyEloise1 · 16/05/2023 17:16

For goodness sake don't be like me and spend over a €1000 on a mattress that can't be flipped.
It can be rotated - but your ar*e is basically in the same place when rotated so the mattress gets weight in the same place, more or less all the time.
It's now dipping, at 6 months old as much as our last mattress which was about 25 years old Sad
That suits the mattress manufacturers because you have to change your mattress more often.
I'm gutted.

Oh yes they sent a man out to check it was ok and he of course said it was fine.

YoucancallmeKAREN · 16/05/2023 17:18

Silentnight 7 zone, now 9 years old and still as comfortable as the day we bought it. The only issue is you hate staying anywhere ese because the mattress is never as comfortable as the one yo have at home.

John Lewis mattress. Super king size. Bought in 2019. Still going strong.

It would really help if you'd say which make this was!

@Milger yes I'm the very unhappy owner of one. I contacted them about the poor quality, had an email back basically saying they've gone into administration and the warranty counts for shit. They are still selling them though, which is really unethical in my opinion, when they know they won't honour their 10 year guarantee.

😮 wow! Thanks

Best mattress I've ever had.. 5 years old and still going. Not to pricey either.

TheReverendBeeb · 16/05/2023 17:59

Another contended ViSpring owner here. Had it for over 20 years and still the most comfortable mattress in the world, so much so that when we've been away I am overjoyed to come home and sleep on it.

As pp said though, not cheap. Think it was over £1k twenty odd years ago so goodness knows what it would cost now (although when it finally does need replacing I would go without other things to afford another one).

pensionconfusion · 16/05/2023 18:00

Wowcher

Pocket sprung mattress - high number.

This came as an unrolled mattress. I've now had it for approx 4 years and it hasn't dipped. I turn it every couple of months.

I think it cost me £300

OrionRelocationServices · 16/05/2023 18:04

Emma here. Bought for all in the house.

Only a year or so mind but still grand/like new and no complaints yet from any of the fairly sizeable grumps.

It is a miracle.

ADHDDDDDDDBOOM · 16/05/2023 18:05

I wouldn't touch Emma with a barge pole.

I think it's a toss up between John Lewis and IKEA, leaning towards John Lewis which I was before but there was such huge variation in price I wasn't sure where to begin.

Actually £169 in 2018

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 16/05/2023 18:06

Tempur ,15 years old and like new still.

FKATondelayo · 16/05/2023 18:15

Feather and Black pocket sprung - I just looked on their site and I think it's Bronte. It's not cheap but don't skimp on a mattress.

I've had mine now for 11 years and it's still going firm.

OrionRelocationServices · 16/05/2023 18:45

Fair enough OP - if you’d have said that in your post though I wouldn’t have mentioned it!

Meanoldlady · 16/05/2023 18:52

Tempur. It was excruciatingly expensive, we paid it over 4 years and I'd always thought that spending this sort of money on a mattress was for mad people and lottery winners but it was worth every penny. I love it and 5 years later its still like new. It'll last another decade I reckon, even for a pair of fatties like us.

Roselilly36 · 16/05/2023 18:53

Reylon bought out memory foam mattress and hand made base well over 10 years ago, it’s still perfect.

Heartsnrainbows · 16/05/2023 18:55

I've had a Salus memory foam one for years and it's like brand new. I'm not light either, I'm quite a porker. Just foam, no springs, in Firm. I believe it was called Viscoool but I haven't seen them in shops since.

SusannaQ · 16/05/2023 18:57

Ikea pocket springs. It has dipped recently, but it's 18+ yrs old, it supported me through more than one pregnancy and DH is morbidly obese. Can't complain at that. It also has a zip off top which I stuff in the washing machine.

Oh I like this idea.
I have a pukey kid who likes to aim for my hair at bedtime.

You should see our current mattress. DH will have to dispose of it in the dead of night or we'll have to move house if the neighbours see.

Sealy posturepedic probably 20 years old and still going strong , now a spare bed as we lashed out on a Hypnos mattress as the bed that came with the house (massive wooden, heavy) was euro king and Hypnos was one of the few that did that size. . Went into a store to try them out which is essential as I thought we should have hard , as we normally do, but medium was perfect. There was a £11,000 mattress which we lay on for the experience . Absolutely not worth it and less comfortable than ours , but made out of gnu ear hair or similar
. Now had hypnos 4 years and still the most comfortable mattress we've ever had but it was an investment. Had a very brief 2 year trial of a. memory foam type mattress. Never again , too sweaty and not comfortable , gave it to one of the kids for their house .

SusannaQ · 16/05/2023 19:04

Just as an afterthought. DD has this mattress, it was ridiculously cheap (as mattresses go) but would be sufficient for the spare room bed which was the intended location. DD pronounced it far better than hers and swapped it, she's had it about 5yrs now and it's still as comfortable as the day we bought it.

Ikea, firm pocket sprung mattress. Had it for 3 years and it's still like new.

LadyEloise1 · 16/05/2023 19:10

@Milger and @ADHDDDDDDDBOOM
It was King Koil.
Because I was in an accident years ago my back isn't great and I need a good firm mattress ( that stays firm for more than a week ).
I blame both myself and the retailer.
I didn't ask nor was I told that the mattress wasn't flippable.
Our last mattress was in such good condition the guys taking it away commented.
I had a mattress protector on it and flipped it every 3 weeks. No wonder it lasted so long but had just got too soft for dh and my taste.
I was sooo looking forward to getting a new mattress.
