Is anyone else having problems with the Royal Mail?

We’ve struggled with getting post recently. A few important letters have taken ages to get here, missing deadlines and causing no end of problems. DD sent a document first class and it’s taken a week to arrive. Most days there’s nothing and then tons of mail turns up.

We managed to spot our postman today and he said that we’re only getting deliveries twice a week. We live in a small village but only three miles from a big sorting office and less than a mile from a post office.

It’s real problem because NHS, DVLA, HMRC etc only use the Royal Mail. Is it just a local issue or more widespread?

Depends if you're local to me or not 😂🤣

GU15,26,17 &95 issues at sorting office, may (hahaha) incur further disruption to services.

I just wonder why anyone bothers paying for first class delivery!

PurelyBelter · 11/05/2023 17:14

We hardly seem to get any post but I think that’s because we have everything paperless now.

That being said our posties are absolute smashers. I had ordered something online a few weeks ago that only had special delivery as the delivery option. I thought I would miss it as they usually come about 1130am and I would be at a baby class nearby with DD. On the walk home the postie spotted me and said “Oh you’re number # aren’t you? We’ve put a card through the door but we’ve got a special delivery for you but it’s in the van, are you on the way home?” I said yeah and he really kindly came and dropped it off about 30 minutes later. Such a babe. Made sure to send a “compliments” form about him on the website.

SE London. Post seems to be sporadic, and I've had to re-deliver letters that were for someone else a few times.

Last week a postie managed to deliver a parcel addressed to me to someone else's house, couldn't even recognise where it was delivered to, and the photo they took of the 'proof' had the parcel sticking halfway out of a letterbox (i have a postbox, not a letterbox!) So someone's probably enjoying my new running clothes 🤦‍♀️ thankfully I got a refund from the online shop.

I don't, it's a complete waste of money imo

Same here, we can go 2 weeks without anything then get a pile of post in one go.

One look on Royal Mails Twitter replies will tell you that it's a widespread problem and a lot of people aren't happy.

@Boobahs really feel for RM workers like your partner.

Weirdly I've had 3 items returned to the sender saying I no longer live at my address. I've been here nearly 10 years and still am. I only get deliveries very rarely too. Something is going on.

And I've just got home to this - yet another thing for them to do.

You'd have to be mad to trust Royal Mail to turn up with your prescriptions! You'd probably be dead before the drugs arrived!

I'm on day 3 of (in theory) waiting at home for an important tracked delivery. It seems to be stuck at the same place.

I've got a bunch of papers to send to my solicitor but it's not worth the risk is it?

the sorting office is now open for 2 hours on a Monday so I couldn't go.

they need to stop advertising services they don't have.

A relative is having the same problems in the GU area. Hospital letters turning up after appointments or not at all. Absolutely dreadful.

xsquared · 14/06/2023 14:09

I was about to start a thread on post not turning up.

Not expecting anything urgent, just a couple of purchases made last week which would have been sent as large letters, but we've had nothing since Friday.
