Anyone else disappointed with Vinted?

I've so far "bought" 7 items from Vinted. 4 of which have since been refunded because they've never been posted. One of them, that had been listed for 4 months, was refunded because her printer was broken. But re-listed straight away. That one, I got a friend to buy for me, and that sale was cancelled too. Why bother to offer stuff for sale if you don't actually want to part with it?

I've now bought a few things but am getting frustrated because the sellers are taking so long to post them.

Disco2023 · 12/05/2023 11:44

I’ve been lucky. I only buy tbh but never had any real problems with anything I’ve bought. It’s all been delivered as stated.

I see this feedback a lot about small businesses as well. Not everyone is Amazon - it can take a few days do a private seller to get to a post office or arrange a collection of items from home.

It's worth adjusting your expectations on that one - it won't be despatched an hour after ordering!

problembottom · 12/05/2023 11:46

I think you've been unlucky but there are a couple of things you need to look out for. Don't buy anything listed for more than a week before messaging the seller first to see if it's still available - they may have become inactive on the site or forgotten they've listed it or sold it on eBay etc. And make sure you check reviews - anything less than five stars is risky, some sellers are a bit shit.

I've sold 60 items of DD's clothes on there and only once did I have to refund as I found a fault with the item I hadn't spotted. I also haven't had any problems buying clothes for me and DD.

CaptainMum · 12/05/2023 11:59

I've sold over a hundred items on Vinted. Only had a lost parcel twice and both fully refunded to both of us. I've bought over 25 things too and always been fine. Maybe it's the type of item. Kids wear and cheaper women's wear have been good for me.

MsWhitworth · 12/05/2023 12:44

Have sold lots things with no problem. Don’t buy on there though

SquashPenguin · 12/05/2023 12:47

I’d love to know why 99% of the stuff for sale is a crumpled pile of crap 😂 I’ve looked several times, but never bought anything. I stick to eBay.

TheFormidableMrsC · 12/05/2023 13:25

I've had a lot of success with Vinted, both buying and selling. Only one seller didn't send the item and I didn't check her feedback until after otherwise I would have avoided.

Malbecmoron · 13/05/2023 00:45

@PinkFootstool yeah I'm not looking for or expecting immediate dispatch but i've 2 things I bought 5/6 days ago and they're still not sent. Seems like quite a long time.

MidnightMeltdown · 15/05/2023 01:20

Yeah Vinted is crap. I've only ever bought two things on there. The first was ok, but the second was described as 'new' and when it arrived it was dirty and stained. As if that wasn't bad enough, I then had to pay the return postage to get a refund!

I won't ever buy on there again.

AnyaMarx · 15/05/2023 01:22

My experience with Vinted has been brilliant.

Never had a duff sale or
Purchase !

Samphiredragonfly · 15/05/2023 06:23

Only ever bought. Never had any issues with the the quality of the clothes or the
seller, once or twice the item didn't suit me or the size wasn't quite right.
I've had some great bargains and haven't bought much new recently but then I tend to buy the brands I know and like. I also never really spend more than £15-20.

daffodilandtulip · 09/05/2023 07:22

Haha @RedRedRobinGoesBobBobBobbing my issue is the Evri drop off. It's a really busy shop and he makes you wait to the side until he's dealt with all the "real customers" 🤣

This.
And then there is no system so they just look through a massive pile 1 by 1
It drives me nuts...

bob1985 · 15/05/2023 06:39

I love vinted.

Lots of success buying and selling.

I do think it's key to remember you're not buying from a shop. People have lives and it's not always possible to post straight away.

As for selling I don't understand people who get upset over offers. Surely it's part of the attraction for buyers...everyone likes to get a bargain. List things for slightly more than you would be happy to accept. Silly offers, politely decline.

I've had a couple of things go missing in tran

bob1985 · 15/05/2023 06:40

sorry posted too soon

Couple things go missing in transit. Refund issued no bother by vinted

daffodilandtulip · 15/05/2023 06:41

@Totalwasteofpaper I can top that since my last reply! I went to collect and he said it hadn't come in on his shift, so he didn't know if it was there - he flatly refused to look, said it wasn't his problem! I refused to leave until he had looked, stood in the shop for a good 20 mins, with everyone offering for me to be served before then as I was clearly waiting. He found it for me eventually then gave me verbal abuse as I left.

I was just about to start a Vinted thread.

The haggling drives me nuts - I’m open to offers but people send ridiculous prices. The most expensive thing I’ve got on my page is £15 - most things are under £10 (and all worn once or new without tags) and still you get offers of £2.50.

I know it’s the way Vinted is but I’m not driving to post it for £2.50!

Also the people who send 400 questions and then send an offer which I accept and they just disappear. Drives me MAD!!

I thought there was a limit on the amount you can offer. You can't make an offer for less than 40% below the listed price? Although 40% so still quite a chunk.

beachwhirly · 15/05/2023 07:04

I love Vinted.

Our local Evri driver is decent, I learnt the lesson about the drop off/collect shops and now have it all delivered home and send from a locker. Love those lockers!

I am guilty of forgetting to send something last week though, it was in the car boot and I just didn't have chance to get to the locker and before I knew it Vinted had cancelled the transaction. Felt pretty bad about that!

You can message the seller directly and offer whatever you like.

Teacupsandtea · 15/05/2023 18:00

I'm quite new to Vinted and only started using it 2 months ago. I've made £400 and had all 5 star positive reviews. I'm loving it! Saying that, I've never bought anything, only sold.

Sauerkraut12 · 16/04/2024 14:13

They are a scam. Same login problem here. Saw online many people cant login anymore. They even asked for a photo of my bank cardnwhich is not legal practice. Its basically a AI BOT , sending people in circles. Because they are registered in lithuania they are untouchable. So they keep all the individual pounds and pennies and the buyer or seller will never see a solution. Thats fraud.

Sauerkraut12 · 16/04/2024 14:18

I have had a shocking experience with vinted but after dealing and researching i would like to warn everybody. They have a new practice: they logout the individual. Than people cant login again. The customer service is a Bot. Sends you in circles until you give up. Vinted has 3 legal cases in 3 different countries. It looks all nice but their new strategy is definatly highly questionable. Imagine they do this to 1 million people, that is 1 pound buyer protection times 1 mio , for no protection at all . And yes, forget about the funds in your account, if you have some. They are gone.

This is quite worrying to read. Admittedly I don't leave money in the account and send it straight to my account. I've not had any issues with them at all. I did once have to contact customer services and they were very helpful, I'm pretty certain it wasn't a bot. It does make you wary though. I have just found it much easier than eBay and their horrendous fees.

AngieBJ · 20/12/2024 14:15

In my experience as a buyer, never use Vinted - great when all goes well, ie items received in the condition it was advertised, but when it's not to try to get a refund - it's useless. So much for buyer protection you pay for - my advice, stick the tried and tested Ebay.

Frangywangywoowah · 20/12/2024 14:18

I've had a good experience both as seller and buyer
