I think Charles looks nervous rather than miserable.

TheFluffiestHobo · 06/05/2023 12:26

She's the most successful ow in history. Let her have her moment.

🤣🤣🤣🤣. Good one.

Waitingfortaco · 06/05/2023 12:27

It is Queen Consort to distinguish between Queen Regent (the actual Monarch).

Indeed. If Camilla came on the scene after the divorce, fine. But they were cheating while he was still married, so it’s a bit grubby.

Diana cheated first, that's well documented.

The King and Queen have been married longer than Charles and Diana were.

Get over it.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 06/05/2023 12:27

*Is it still cheating when your husband has effectively already dissolved the marriage with ongoing non-repentant adultery?

I think it not the same somehow.*

By reports, Diana cheated first. So I guess she already dissolved the marriage.

I thought Camilla looked absolutely radiant as the crown was lowered into her head. So many emotions, I imagine. They both look so much more relaxed now.

I wonder when they'll meet again?

RhubarbFairy · 06/05/2023 12:27

Ricco12 · 06/05/2023 12:24

Charles looks miserable as sun. Hasn’t once cracked a smile. Not like when his mother was crowned she was all smiles. This is depressing to watch .

He looks tired. He's well past retirement age, and everything has ramped up for him now.

Turn off then?

They can't win with some people.

ShamedBySiri · 06/05/2023 12:27

Holy Communion?

Surely not for all the congregation - how many hours have they got?

I used to take communion but always felt a bit of unspiritual misgivings about sharing the cup. These days I just can't do it. It makes me feel a bit ill. Envy

whyhere · 06/05/2023 12:27

Can't believe we've only just got to communion!

NashvilleQueen · 06/05/2023 12:28

This warm and funny thread is now going to be derailed by anti-Camilla/pro-Diana comments :-(

Guineasrule · 06/05/2023 12:28

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 06/05/2023 12:19

It's a celebration. Don't you smile at celebrations?

Exactly- she had come a long way from evil mistress & tampongate to queen of England. She is probably giving herself a high five..

LindorDoubleChoc · 06/05/2023 12:28

I literally cannot believe people keep droning on about Camilla vs Diana! It's incredibly odd.

BarelyLiterate · 06/05/2023 12:28

HamptonCaught · 06/05/2023 12:19

Imagine if Charles had loved Diana, she would still be alive and they’d both be getting crowned. I think that would be a lot more meaningful.

I don’t think Camilla should be queen (queen consort, fine), as she was just his side piece. Maybe ok if they met after Diana died, but since they were having an affair I think it’s a bit unseemly and undermines the whole thing.

What are you on about? Camilla is the King's wife, therefore she is the Queen, in exactly the same way as Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother), or Queen Mary, or Anne Boleyn or any of the other Kings’ wives dating back to the Middle Ages.

And what about Diana's affairs? She wasn't as innocent as made out. She just had a better publicity machine making her out to be a victim. He loves Camilla, love is not grubby and not something he needs to wear a hair shirt to appease the curtain twitchers

MidgeHardcastle · 06/05/2023 12:28

The Queen's wish re Queen Consort was because so many sniffy people over the years were saying that she shouldn't be ever be queen only a princess.

AbbyGal · 06/05/2023 12:28

Sudeko · 06/05/2023 12:26

They usually appear together as a group of three on the moors in Scotland.

I'lltry again

I wonder when they'll meet again?

TheCreamTeaWasFromMe · 06/05/2023 12:26

But that was years ago. Life moves on, and to keep clinging to what happened decades previously is unhealthy and counterproductive.

But then I'm not a fan of endlessly rehashing the past. If I was into that then I'd listen to Adele.

Bravo! Grin

Qilin · 06/05/2023 12:28

KC has dropped the consort bit? she is Queen**

Prince Philip was officially Prince Consort, but they never said the consort bit generally. Not King because the title king comes above queen.

So queen Camilla is still queen consort to the king, but as has happened in the last the consort part isn't generally used. It's not something knew iirr,

I've got some bad news everyone. This is not the official watch along thread!

Penny is still hanging on to a sword.

theresnoonequitelikegrandma · 06/05/2023 12:29

Anyone else think Camilla might be feeling a little bit pleased that her initials are the same as her husband? 🤣🤣

anonymous98 · 06/05/2023 12:26

I think Charles looks nervous rather than miserable.

I agree. I also think he can't win. If he smiled during the "solemn bits" then he'd be pulled apart for grinning away and not respecting the occasion. But because he's keeping a straight face he's accused of being miserable. I think he's nervous and probably a bit overwhelmed by the fact that this is finally happening. It must also be quite poignant for him given that he's officially replaced his Mum now.

Sudeko · 06/05/2023 12:29

Well, it looks like .... in thunder lightening and in rain (most unusual for London in May!)
