Where would you go?

Was talking to my DP last night, and I said that my choice would be North Wales because its my absolutely favourite place and I dont think I would ever get bored of it.

Glasgow so I can visit my family, also there is so much lovely countryside all around in Scotland.

Iltakethat · 30/04/2023 14:58

Cornwall. We live in the north and have a holiday home in north Wales but plan on moving to Cornwall for at least part of the year when the dcs are older. It has everything IMO, the beaches are stunning and there are so many lovely villages to visit.

cryinglaughing · 30/04/2023 15:00

North Yorkshire.

My parents have holidayed there (with us when we were children) for the last 40 years...

North Norfolk, I'm about as far west as you can get from Norfolk but I just love it when I visit. Those beaches...

Geckle · 30/04/2023 15:03

I live in a beautiful coastal location already, so I think I’d choose London.

I lived there for a while but found a new appreciation for it once I moved out and just visited for short breaks.

Easterbunnywashere · 30/04/2023 15:05

Scotland or Devon. So many lovely places in either of those that I would be very hard pushed to choose.

Cupcakequeen75 · 30/04/2023 15:15

Isle Of Purbeck

helpfulperson · 30/04/2023 15:18

Keswick if I could ban other people from using it at the same time otherwise newtonmore in the Highlands.

whatthehelldowecare · 30/04/2023 15:19

Nairn, just outside Inverness

Orangebadger · 30/04/2023 15:31

Probably North Devon, but then I think of the Scottish Highlands.

ItsMorningTime · 30/04/2023 15:33

Loch Lomond

The Gower, can't believe nobody else has mentioned it yet. The walk down to Three Cliff Bay via the castle ruins and alongside the impressively meandering Pennard Pill stream is lovely. There are often wild ponies drinking from the stream, and the water is shallow if you don't quite manage the stepping stones. It's not the safest place to swim though, so I think I'd like to have one of those apartments just above the sand on Caswell Bay to go swimming every day. Or perhaps Oxwich bay for very safe swimming with small children, and tea and stickies at the Oxwich Bay hotel afterwards, a place that always makes me feel as if I'm a character in an Agatha Christie novel.

I live in North Wales but I'd still choose Wales. Either Porthmadog way or Anglesey, both beautiful.

Gizlotsmum · 30/04/2023 16:08

Tricky, love North Wales ( would probably pick here as has beaches and mountains) and the Lake District.. if money wasn’t a factor Finland.

Flossflower · 30/04/2023 16:48

beeswain · 30/04/2023 07:32

Either near Aviemore or Kyle of Localsh

I like these two places plus Braemar.
@beeswain Do you hill walk?

TroysMammy · 30/04/2023 16:53

Holiday Isle of Wight. Short break London.

Interested in the recs for the Shropshire hills. How doable are they without a car?

Church Stretton and Ludlow both have train stations. The Stretton hills are easy to get to from Church Stretton station where there are regular trains from Shrewsbury.

A lot of the other parts of Shropshire aren’t so easy to get to without a car but the Stretton hills are stunning so between Shrewsbury, C. Stretton and Ludlow you’d see the best of the county. In my opinion anyway 😉

TulipTuesday · 30/04/2023 17:02

Somerset for me. I feel at peace as soon as I’m there.

Gizlotsmum · 30/04/2023 17:13

I appreciate Finland isn’t uk! I forgot that bit

anunlikelyseahorse · 30/04/2023 17:26

anunlikelyseahorse · 30/04/2023 17:27

Ooops flag was meant to be beside Isle of Man, not replace it!
