Where would you go?

Was talking to my DP last night, and I said that my choice would be North Wales because its my absolutely favourite place and I dont think I would ever get bored of it.

OP posts:

Filey.

Spanielsarepainless · 30/04/2023 12:54

North Norfolk. Been going for 57 years and not tired of it yet. (Have been elsewhere too!)

IsThePopeCatholic · 30/04/2023 12:57

coastal west Dorset.

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/04/2023 12:59

Scottish Highlands or St. Ives. Would be hard to choose, love both equally. In the end though, probably the Highlands, more variety.

Coffeeandtv83 · 30/04/2023 13:00

Isle of Arran. My happy place.

WeedKnife · 30/04/2023 13:01

Edinburgh. It has it all - beach, city, hills, great restaurant scene, gorgeous art galleries...

FluffyTrousers · 30/04/2023 13:06

Ardnamurchan in The Highlands.
I want to live there!

Ilikewinter · 30/04/2023 13:13

Wales so far for me, went 4 times last year and loved every part we went to!. This year weve been to Filey, Whitby etc but Wales still beats it for us....going to Norfolk later in the year so will have to see how that goes.

Crikeyalmighty · 30/04/2023 13:14

@IsThePopeCatholic I'm with you on that.

MaidOfSteel · 30/04/2023 13:34

The Lake District. Or the North Riding, where I'm from.

Fife. St Andrews has everything. Fantastic beach at Ely and wonderful little villages.

Interested in the recs for the Shropshire hills. How doable are they without a car?

Because with all the second homes that are bought in the SW mean that it's very difficult for locals to buy. Also the places may be left empty most of the year and so there's no community, no one to spend money at the local shop and they become like ghost towns. Salcombe in Devon is a prime example.

OP it would either be Snowdonia or the very end of Cornwall. But I'd hate to never be able to go abroad for proper, reliable sunshine.

The poster didn’t say they had bought a second home.

Not that it’s our business if they have, none of us will please everyone else with how we choose to live our lives.

Cornwall, have had a small holiday chalet there for nearly 40 years. Visit up to 6 times a year and close family & friends use it as well.

Smashingwatermelons · 30/04/2023 14:29

Lake District - I can go there any time of year, absolutely gorgeous. Hiking and kayaking for the rest of my life sounds brilliant. Gingerbread and Crabbies at the end of each day 😋

Yorkshire…going back for my third visit in 6 years in July.

I live in a seaside town and am not a big hot weather/beach person.

Yorkshire has the countryside, culture, big cities and beaches if you want them. I’d wanted to go for years before I made my first visit and came away knowing I’d found my spiritual home.

I live in Yorkshire, moved there after 5 years in London, best place ever. Having the countryside on our doorstep is just the best.
