How would you feel if your adult child went on Naked Attraction?

I won’t pretend I don’t occasionally watch this show, mainly out of a morbid curiosity.

Saw a clip last night where a lovely looking young woman who was articulate and seemed funny and bright was rejected, but told the (bisexual) “picker” that she’d love to have a threesome with her and the man she ultimately chose.

I felt so sad for her. Rejected publicly and still eager to please. i wondered how her family and friends felt watching it.

How would you feel if your child told you they were going on this show?

I would hate to think there’s people at home judging and laughing at my child’s body.

I think it's bizarrely considered 'acceptable' because it focuses on more private body parts; if they kept them clothed and then invited the pickers (and also the TV audience, of course) to judge their face/height/plumpness, it would be instantly shown up for what it is.

That’s a very good point. I’ve only ever seen a handful of episodes but has there ever been a case where they haven’t focussed primarily on genitals and someone’s been rejected for being too overweight? I can’t see that going down well.

They always try to do it in a faux-nicey-nicey way, but considerably overweight people (especially women) never seem to be chosen. They'll say something like "Number 4 is very pretty, but I just tend to go for brunettes rather than blondes" - and then choose Number 2 instead, who is indeed a brunette, but also happens to be several stone lighter.

I saw one once where they had a transman on, and Anna had to explain that "Number 3 has a vagina, but identifies as a man". Of course, without any clothes, context, visible face, personality or anything else, how on earth is anybody meant to frame that, regardless of their preferences, perspectives or gender beliefs? If I recall correctly, that person didn't get chosen.

I caught a bit of one the other day when channel hopping. They'd just got to the bit where the faces are revealed and the female picker was talking very seriously about two of them having good noses for if she sat on their faces! I was cringing for her so can't imagine how I'd feel if I knew her!

I also caught the very end of a programme yesterday where two teams had been left naked in a forest for three days and had to race to the finish line to win £5000. Naked. Apart from socks and hiking boots. It was the very last few minutes I saw but I just thought, what was the point in that? What use did being naked have in that situation? The team who didn't win were very disappointed and the woman was saying 'I would never do that again.' Wonder how she feels today having won no money but having shown everything off on TV?

I felt embarrassed for her . Just imagine the grief she's going to get in her home town . She will never live this down . Plus all the creeps that will be coming on to her . I would imagine that anyone going on would be psychologically assessed?

It really is the dregs of TV programmes and the people who take part surely must be desperate attention seekers. The shittest of shit reality TV.

I would be mortified if anyone I knew, let alone someone I was related to, took part in this rubbish.

TV programme makers desperately remaking every kind of programme but with people doing it naked is the equivalent of chocolate manufacturers trying to boost sales by releasing orange-flavoured variants of every single bar that they sell.
