How would you feel if your adult child went on Naked Attraction?

I won’t pretend I don’t occasionally watch this show, mainly out of a morbid curiosity.

Saw a clip last night where a lovely looking young woman who was articulate and seemed funny and bright was rejected, but told the (bisexual) “picker” that she’d love to have a threesome with her and the man she ultimately chose.

I felt so sad for her. Rejected publicly and still eager to please. i wondered how her family and friends felt watching it.

How would you feel if your child told you they were going on this show?

A work colleague of mine went on it.
He didn't win.
I couldn't look him in the eye again.

This really made me laugh.
Can’t understand why anyone would want to go on it. Is it money? Is it bravado! Are they hoping for offers galore?

I don't understand how they expect people to judge penises in their flaccid state - kinda pointless.

Bloody hell Moon, don’t go giving the producers any ideas for another reveal: penises in their erect state! 😱😂

They have done "oldie" episodes so not everybody will be young and beautiful that's how ch4 gets away with showing genitals on TV they.are being "Diverse"

Oh good, I’ll tell my nan 🤣

It’s just all bollocks really, isn’t it? (Pun intended).

Yes it sooooo cool. Wow, you are soooo liberated for showing your labia on tv. Is that what people want to hear?

I mean there are genuine exhibitionists who would get off on it I suppose. But that doesn’t account for everyone who goes on.

TheReverendBeeb · 28/04/2023 09:20

I too would be mortified if my DC went on a programme like this.

I think it is purely for titillation and so reductive. I daresay many people in happy long term relationships wouldn't choose each other based on body parts alone. There is so much more to physical attraction, at least for me. It's how someone speaks, how they move, their personality etc etc. Physical attraction has to be there, of course, but it's not in isolation and I have so little respect for these programme makers who want to humiliate people for the sake of viewing numbers. Tbh, I think Channel 4 has become a shadow of it's former self. The desire to be shocking above anything else is disappointing.

Mrsjayy · 28/04/2023 09:20

Oh never mind your kids being on it NAN 😂

Moonmelodies · 28/04/2023 09:26

When the male contestants get eliminated and they do that spinning round thing - why don't their parts swing out like a yard-arm.
Seems to defy physics.

Clickclak · 28/04/2023 09:29

I'd be unconsolable if mine went on it. Beggars belief why people do this. I work in a factory full of men and they would never let this go. They way some talk about nice women in there and sex in general is actually harassment. So I can't see how this wouldn't ruin someone after a naked. show. Desperate, vanity, mental health, no self awareness. Who knows. I've sat speechless watching people talk about their sex lives on other shows. Why?

Mrsjayy · 28/04/2023 09:30

Suzi Ruffalo or is it Ruffle does a funny routine about naked attraction its hilarious.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/04/2023 09:31

I genuinely read “lodger” as “todger”.

Time for coffee.

I did the same Grin

I don't think they actually spin around in real life - it's computer simulated; or maybe they do very slowly turn and then they speed it up a lot. Otherwise, they'd have a big hole in the floor where they do it before long!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/04/2023 09:36

I did not even think about parents watching!

It amazes me how many people do this kind of thing, safely figuring that their parents wouldn't watch this kind of programme anyway - as though online catchup and TV recorders don't exist, and nobody would ever tell a friend, who would tell a friend, who would tell a friend, who would mention it to your Nan....

loislovesstewie · 28/04/2023 09:43

What annoys me is that it's really just prurience masquerading as some sort of science. I remember reading, might be the presenter, not sure, that it was an attempt to help people find what they really wanted in a soul mate. Well it's clear to me that is rubbish. I also feel that a lot of people on there are going to have issues in relationships anyway, as they are focused so much on whether someone removes pubic hair. That was the one bit I saw before turning it off and me off.

Mrsjayy · 28/04/2023 09:49

Yeah I think Anna Ryder Richardson trots that out when she's talking about Naked attraction where its really just looking and judging Willies and fannys.

BaroldBalonz · 28/04/2023 09:58

Aunty Pam and Uncle Derek are swingers????

Should I clutch my pearls first or fan myself with the Women's Weekly?

Squirrelsnut · 28/04/2023 10:06

Exhibitionism? Some people enjoy others seeing them naked.
I would be a) mortified and disgusted and b) massively surprised if my adult child went on it.

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 28/04/2023 10:28

I mean I wouldn't encourage it and.its not the.sort of thing I'd go on......but at the end of the day it's only a body. And we all have one of those.......People losing their job over appearing on the show and being shunned by their families seems absolutely ridiculous to me.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/04/2023 10:28

Aunty Pam and Uncle Derek are swingers????

Yes, I was shocked too, when I heard; but the evidence is there and plain to see, the mucky pair.

Oh god. Imagine turning the TV on and there's your nan stood in all her glory, being picked by Herbert who is also stood in all his glory??
It'd put me off sausage and eggs for life!

Someone posted a clip earlier.

it really isn’t.

Cakencookieobsessed · 28/04/2023 23:21

I wouldn't go on it. I like my body and make money from it but Naked Attraction has a level of vulnerability. At the end of the day though, they're just bodies that serve a purpose and we all have one.

LlynTegid · 29/04/2023 14:21

To answer the OPs question, very unhappy. It is not really the being naked I don't like, it's the discussion and judgment about genitalia especially. Also given the various tv channels that show repeats which are often several years old, the possibility of being seen by your children or their friends as they get older.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 29/04/2023 14:48

It is not really the being naked I don't like, it's the discussion and judgment about genitalia especially.

Yes, the nudeyness is quite edgy to start with, but it's the in-depth detail they go into about exactly what they want to do with said genitals which tips it over into tacky de trop territory.

It would be perfectly possible to state that you find the shape, size or style of a potential date's body parts attractive, and leave it there, without having to graphically spell out precisely how you would enjoy them - bouncing around, motorboating or whatever.

Sugarfish · 29/04/2023 14:48

I’d be upset if they did and I can’t see any other reason for this programme existing other than to have a perv over naked bodies. It doesn’t promote “normal” body shapes at all and I would hate to think there’s people at home judging and laughing at my child’s body. I remember watching goggle box once and Denise Van Outen said one mans foreskin looked like a snood!

To be honest I get annoyed at the amount of unnecessary nudity and sex on tv at the moment anyway. Especially in dramas where it adds nothing to the story. Might just be turning into a big old prude as I get older though.

Gettingbysomehow · 29/04/2023 14:51

Awful.....like a car crash. Some of them seem to be either mentally ill or just plain grubby and awful.
Can you imagine Derek at work going on this then turning up at work on Monday morning while we all gave him the side eye and everyone would have seen his fungal nails and weird penis.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 29/04/2023 14:53

I would hate to think there’s people at home judging and laughing at my child’s body.

I think it's bizarrely considered 'acceptable' because it focuses on more private body parts; if they kept them clothed and then invited the pickers (and also the TV audience, of course) to judge their face/height/plumpness, it would be instantly shown up for what it is.
