Also saw musician Goldie sat on a sofa outside a studio I was working in. Was about to tell him, excuse me you can’t sit there (sofa was for studio clients) but then he looked up, smiled so I saw his gold teeth and I realised who he was. Quickly changed my tack to: you sit exactly where you want, sir!

Thoroughly nice chap as it goes. Very down to earth and had a conversation about the car park ticket machine outside.

Woahtherehoney · 26/04/2023 09:26

I walked smack bang into David Cameron before he was PM in a hospital in Central London and he was actually very nice about it considering I wasn’t looking where I was going.

I’ve seen Elton John at a comedy show, Russell Brand used to come into the shop I worked in and was an actual angel, he was so nice and always funny but very casually so. I’ve seen Tom Hardy (gorgeous but short) near where I work, and Ian Wright I’ve met a couple of times through work is wonderful too.

GlintingFuriously · 26/04/2023 09:26

Another one from way back - Ian Botham at a netball tournament in the 1980s! Our school team were playing in it and I think his daughter was in one of the other teams. We won, I remember that 😄

Twospaniels · 26/04/2023 09:27

I saw Jack Farthing (Poldark’s George Warleggan) on a train from Leeds once. It was standing room only and he was about 2 people away from me.

I also saw the then Prince Charles about 30 yrs ago when he visited my place of work.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 26/04/2023 09:31

@VisitationRights,
I stayed at the same hotel as Billy Connolly in Dublin and ran into him constantly, even sat next to him for breakfast.

Very envious of you. I'd be chuffed even sharing the same airspace with him. Huge fan.

kittensinthekitchen · 26/04/2023 09:34

I was delivering some stuff to Josh Groban's dressing room once, not expecting to see him (thought he was out), when he opened the door and asked if I could show him where somewhere was. That was unexpected, and he was lovely.

Shared a lift in a hotel with Motley Crue.

These were situations where I knew they were doing shows, so maybe don't count, though I wasn't expecting to encounter them at that moment.

Bumped into Maisie Peters in Edinburgh a couple weeks back... again, knew she was in Edinburgh for a show, but didn't expect to see her there.

booktokbear · 26/04/2023 09:40

Ben Whishaw (Dr Actor from This is going to Hurt) outside Liberty in London.

booktokbear · 26/04/2023 09:50

Oh actually also Karl and Harold from neighbours, they were playing in their band and I once got to dance on stage with them in my backpacker days 😂

Toady was the MC. He had an horrible attitude!

HavfrueDenizKisi · 26/04/2023 09:51

Living/working/going out in London you are plenty of famous people.

So off the top of my head, in no particular order:

King Charles (many years ago); Elle McPherson, Ruby Wax and Salman Rushdie (all the same evening at a restaurant; they were not together); Hugh Grant (newsagents in Fulham); Andrew Lloyd Webber; Martin Clunes; Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics (in a bar in Soho way back); all of Pulp several times (via an ex boyfriend); Michel Roux Jr; John Goodman (Roseann tv prog); Michael Sheen (having breakfast); David Tennant; Brad Pitt; Helen Baxendale (at Ham House near Richmond); members of A-ha (sadly not Morten though, early 90s in a bar); Peter Jones from Dragon's Den; John Craven; Ray Mears (in a Waitrose); Timothy Spall (in Honour Oak; Huw Edwards (walking his dog in Crystal Palace Park); David Mitchell; Charlie Watts from the Rolling Stones (in the Natural History Museum); Boris Johnson (unfortunately, in a church in Venice); Lemmy from Motörhead; Dirk Benedict.

This is me thinking for 5 mins. There's likely many more I can't think of right now.

33goingon64 · 26/04/2023 09:51

Remembered two more: Bjork in the street in Soho and Jeremy Paxman on the beach in Brighton, leaving the Labour party conference.

AlltheFs · 26/04/2023 09:53

I’ve got quite a lot as DH used to work in telly (he used to share a house with Chris Evans amongst others) but my favourite of mine was at a horse event, my pony spooked and practically sat on Princess Anne. We had quite a laugh and chatted for a good few mins. I’ve also met Zara a few times.

This one won’t mean anything to the non horsey, but I competed in the same Novice test as Charlotte DJD and she went in after me. She was there with a VERY young horse and when I came out she said that my test was “very nicely ridden”. Highlight of my life! She won obviously- even with her youngster vs my old hand there was no comparison.

I’ve got a fair few horsey one’s actually as there’s a number of big names in the equestrian world with yards near me, so it’s not unusual to see them locally.

MissAmbrosia · 26/04/2023 09:56

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones having brunch in NY. Dd went and sat at their table with their kids - all little at the time. I made a hand wavy gesture about her bothering them, but couldn't speak 🙄They all sat there happily chatting away for ages. I ordered another bloody mary.

CurlewKate · 26/04/2023 09:57

My niece was in a hospital waiting room wit Hugh Grant a couple of days ago...

Dinosaurdrip · 26/04/2023 09:58

Lonelycrab · 26/04/2023 10:01

Trevor Neal out of Trevor and Simon, pretty quiet, softly spoken guy in real life.
Resisted urge to swing pantsGrin

BarelyLiterate · 26/04/2023 10:05

Jamie & Becky Vardy, at Costco in Leicester.
Gordon Brown at Edinburgh airport. He was scowling & obviously in a big hurry.
Nicky Morgan MP in my local Waitrose.
Wayne Rooney, filling up his Range Rover at Asda in Derby.
Adrian Chiles at Edgbaston cricket ground, watching the test match.

Summerhouse2013 · 26/04/2023 10:10

My husband has met & shaken hands with Charles & Camilla when they visited his place of work, he also met Greg Wallace & Heston Blumenthal when they were filming at his place of work.

I was dropping my mum off at our local train station many years ago when Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen & his wife walked out of the station. I said hello and offered them a lift! Ridiculous I know as they had a taxi waiting no doubt.

I also shook hands with Jon Pertwee when I was a young girl, he was in costume as Worzel Gummidge and was filming where I lived. He was lovely...

meatbaseddessert · 26/04/2023 10:18

Paul McCartney

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 26/04/2023 10:20

Bjork and her son with what looked to be like her son's birthday party at a pizza restaurant in Kingston upon Thames in the late 90s(I recognised her tattoo first).
Richard E Grant in Richmond high street.
Janine Butcher in Kingston upon Thames ditto Keith Barron and Floella Benjamin, all on different days.

larkstar · 26/04/2023 10:21

Craggy, shaggy haired and dishevelled - actor Richard Harris - he was absolutely hammered, walking down the high street one afternoon in Hampstead mid-80’s supported on each arm by a couple of tall blonde women in fur coats and high heels - I’m pretty sure they were twins. I’d love to know the full story of what went on that day.

I also saw Jarvis Cocker - he was on the same hovercraft crossing on the way to the Isle of Wight.

James May shopping in Sainsbury’s - really can’t remember where we were.

We were in Hyde Park watching Kate and Wills marry on the big screen (coincidental, not something we had planned!) - after the event the huge crowd was shuffling out of the park along routes directed by police as there were temporary barriers everywhere- through a gap in a hedge at the back of what must have been a private club people were stopping momentarily to look at some well known faces you could see standing just inside large open patio doors - we saw Posh & Becks talking to Elton John.

Movinghouseatlast · 26/04/2023 10:21

Princess Diana. Twice! Once she was at the theatre and I literally bumped into her. She gave me a death glare. The other time I saw her in Kensington gardens.
