Family holiday with adult DCs. Sitting around a hotel pool in Florida playing a silly but fun people watching game, Famous Lookalikes. DS points out a very thin, shaggy white haired, leathery looking person on the sun lounger on the opposite side as a dead ringer for Iggy Pop. We all agree that the man certainly looked very like h until we realised - it WAS him! Confirmed by me who ‘casually’ swam closer and overheard him talking about his latest studio recording.

Was at the graduation ceremony when Prince William graduated. Lots of royals there. Ken Barlow off Coronation Street was incidentally also there for his DC graduation. Served Graham Norton in a shop. Stood behind Robbie Coltrane in a bakery. Was inspected by Princess Anne in a line up when I was in the guides.

I once sat next to Ricky Hatton at Maine Road watching Man City. Before he got his private box.
Not that exciting.

ButtonSister · 26/04/2023 10:58

Jarvis Cocker. Our eyes met 😍

Moonandstars90 · 26/04/2023 11:04

I grew up on a farm up the road from Robert Plant. My parents still live there and he sometimes walks past and has chats with my dad over the garden wall. 😂

Alan Alda at the airport. Barbara Windsor sat behind us at a pantomime.

He owned a bar in North Carolina and we were getting signed in when he appeared behind us

Patrick Dempsey at New Orleans Airport

Tom Hanks in a restaurant in Malta

Remembered some more!

I served Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams in a cafe in Bronte Beach. I dropped his empty coffee cup as I was so nervous. No one else gave a shit

Also served Toady from Neighbours in the same cafe and had a chat with him about the book he was reading (Catch 22)

Walked past Dale Winton in London once

Walked past Jimmy Carr in a bar in Edinburgh

afrikat · 26/04/2023 11:34

Also met Prince Charles (well he was at the time) coming out of a homeless shelter in Edinburgh on millennium eve

Elijah Wood. His eyes are HUGE in real life. He almost looks like a cartoon character. We made eye contact a few times and it was like he was looking into my soul it was so intense.

A friend of mine was a little bit in love with Elijah Wood. She went to a Comic Con at Earls Court and paid a lot to get a signed photo.
Later that day we were at a gig at the Troubadour across the road and I bumped into him in the unisex toilets!

LindorDoubleChoc · 26/04/2023 11:47

Alan Rickman (two occasions, different places).

StylishM · 26/04/2023 12:00

Met most of the senior royals at various horse events. Princess Anne and Zara are both lovely, Mike Tindall is a very attentive dad & The Queen has a laser sharp eye when it came to a horse's form & the ground conditions.

Non-royals, I've met Lin-Manuel Miranda, and he was absolutely delightful - I was fangirling HARD.

UrsulaBelle · 26/04/2023 12:05

I served Sharron Davies the swimmer in a cafe once. She was very glamorous and extremely tall.

I saw Mel Smith on the tube.

I've actually met Johnny Morris, Johnny Ball and Tony Hart. (Not at the same time) The first was a bit of a luvvie, the second as mad as you'd expect and the third was delightful.

beguilingeyes · 26/04/2023 12:05

The Duchess Of Kent in the greeting card bit in Harrods..having just told my mum that they usually shut the shop for Royals.
Terrence Stamp on a bus. He was wearing Crocs.
Hugh Laurie in Virgin.
Una Stubbs in Piccadilly
Joanna Lumley on the escalator at Leicester Square tube station a couple of weeks ago.
Roger Taylor, John Deacon ( I was a massive Queen fan) and Rick Parfitt from Status Quo watching ballet at the Coliseum. Parfitt was one of the loveliest people I've ever met.
Sat next to Cate Blanchett in a burger bar in Camden recently.
Sat next to Sharleen Spiteri in her husband's restaurant.
Steven Spielberg and his wife having dinner with Sam Mendes at The Ivy a long time ago.
Barbara Hulanicki (Biba) at a Polish restaurant in Kensington.
Not the same, but we've been to a couple of Damian Lewis gigs recently. A bit surreal, but he's good!

TheSaturdayAfternoonnessOfIt · 26/04/2023 12:06

The Duchess of York in London in the 1990s.

mewkins · 26/04/2023 12:07

John Peel

taxguru · 26/04/2023 12:13

Bumped into Olivia Newton John once back in the early/mid 70s when she lived in London and was a regular on Saturday night TV shows. Lovely girl, very friendly and lovely personality.

meatbaseddessert · 26/04/2023 12:17

Larry David being very Larry David arguing with a pregnant woman and her partner about who was first in the taxi queue outside a hotel in Boston when it was hosing it down with rain and everyone was trying to get a Red Sox game. Surreal.

taxguru · 26/04/2023 12:17

Also served Jim Bowen many times whilst he was still a teacher and was a part time comedian, before his Bulleye days. Nice bloke, very quiet but friendly enough and respectful. Certainly no airs and graces.

lemonyellows · 26/04/2023 12:20

Most famous would be Bill Clinton. Waving from his car in Washington to me and my friend. A bit surreal. This was when he was president

QueenSmartypants · 26/04/2023 12:23

Charles & Camilla
