What fruit actually gets eaten in your household?

When I buy fruit I find too much of it gets wasted if we don’t eat it straight away.

It’s only me and one teenager at home and I try not to waste food but this week I threw out some strawberries which went mouldy and the bananas went brown before we ate them. We also had blueberries and avocados this week and did eat them. It doesn’t help that neither of us particularly like fruit but I buy it to make sure my dc gets a balanced diet or they would be living on chips.

What fruit do you buy and what do you eat or end up throwing away?

Absolutely do not worry about leftover fruit!! Obviously if you see a pattern ie not eating grapes etc. then you're pretty safe to stop buying them, but kids can be so temperamental when it comes to fruit. One day apples are in and the next they're the food of the devil 🤦‍♀️. My go to when there's food waste is to blend it all up and make food 'leather' by slowly dehydrating in the oven. Try not to add processed sugar syrup though, it gets children addicted and is so easy to replace with healthy vegan alternatives 🌱

Just apples. Occasionally bananas. Occasionally strawberries when in season.

I make crumbles with left over fruit - we've had some pretty odd ones, I admit.

I'm not a big fan of fruit but force myself to eat one portion a day (like you OP, I far prefer vegetables and salads).

DC love all berries. Otherwise I try to buy reasonably seasonally - pears, plums and apples in autumn; cherries, peaches and berries in summer. This time of year I do cheat with things like imported grapes.

I buy some tinned fruit too - I quite like tinned grapefruit, and have a soft spot for tinned peaches as a retro pud.

I eat all of the fruit I buy - bananas, apples (2 different types), kiwis, pears, oranges, and strawberries. I also buy frozen mixed berries to have with yogurt

We get pretty much the same fruit every week - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, satsumas, apples, mango, bananas, prepared pineapple, grapes, melon, pear. DD is 5 and gets sent in with a small apple every day to school but she sometimes brings it back home uneaten. I prepare a fruit salad every day to use up the fruit, which is eaten by me and DH and the younger dcs but not the teenager. All of the fruit gets eaten. Teen requests his own fruit (added to the weekly shop) and eats that - varies from apples, pineapple, passion fruit, melon.
