I’ve had a shit week, actually a shit year, but I’m trying to really practise a bit of self car and be grateful for the small things so I’ll start.

Watching my young cat explore the garden this afternoon, getting scared by a fly/the grass/a noise and running back inside every two minutes before trying to be brave and sneaking back out.

Having a chat on the sofa with my teenage son about nothing much, he even let me rest my head on his shoulder while we talked.

A roast dinner cooked by someone else.

A lovely hot bath and fresh bedding waiting to go on.

Went into pret in London and asked if they still did their lemon and ginger tea. He told me they didn’t do it and because I didn’t want an alternative drink he didn’t charge me for my sandwich.

Seeing the sparrows discover the birdfeeder. It took two months!

Ananda1 · 23/04/2023 22:47

Same I’ve had a horrid 3 yrs - health issues etc
Now I love the small things in life…robin in garden, amazing shades of green on trees, mowing lawn, a great book, the laugh only children can make, a text from an old friend. media and advertising has made us miserable never enough stuff - we don’t need stuff we need love, nature and togetherness. Only when health goes do people truly realise this.

Being in the garden just after it stopped raining , i love the scent of the garden just after its rained, and all the birds were singing

insanityclause19 · 23/04/2023 23:09

Oh I want to see bluebells ! I saw tulips today aswell , and the plant pot with the elephant ears sounds amazing I'm going to look out for these! Also I've spied a bath pillow that's going on my shopping list too x

I love the sight of people holding those enormous number balloons for a birthday, they're always huge and awkward and lary coloured. Seen two sets of 3 0. Cheers me up.

Well, nothing remarkable but I did joke with some doctors that our pens keep disappearing because of their great quality (NHS bog standard scratchy articles). They disappear in the night!

Deathraystare · 24/04/2023 10:30

Also I guess because it looked bright out this morning but I reckon when I leave it will rain!

It’s the same here, bright sunshine this morning and grey and overcast now.

No doubt it will start raining just as I leave work for the school run..!

Several messages from colleagues thanking me for a presentation I did recently and telling me how much they enjoyed it.

A FB post from a friend about how much she enjoyed going for a walk with me yesterday.

My dog spread-eagled in a very undignified position enjoying the Autumn sun.

A friend dropping off a chocolate cake.

Several photos of the Aurora Australis, which was stunning last night.

A friend telling me she is falling in love, and for the first time for her, with a guy who respects her and appears to be a decent man.

MagpieSong · 24/04/2023 12:58

Bit of a rude one but a waste tank driving in front of us that had the number plate ‘k27 poo’.

Gave me a good giggle!

Elle200 · 24/04/2023 13:20

Had to be our two week old foal galloping in circles round his devoted mum this morning, those long foaly legs get me every time 🐎

Pahpahpotato · 24/04/2023 13:25

My 18 month old son, who is a complete whirlwind of energy and chaos, really carefully patting his dog on the head then lying down next to her to give her the most gentle, lovely cuddle

I lurve this thread!

Walked past a neighbour's back garden, which has suddenly exploded with the biggest, fattest, deep red peonies
Sun actually felt warm on my skin for the first time this year
Little kid across the road, doing that running-around-because-I-can thing, giggling
I packed & labelled four Ebay things ready to go. I fucking hate selling on Ebay, but felt so GOOD when I'd done it. Even remembered to put the delivery notes inside! [smug]
Discovering there's a new Star Trek Picard series, it's on Prime, and I already have a subscription this month
Ditto Mrs Maisel. I picked the right month to cough up my £8.99!

I had half an hour before the kids woke up this morning and got us all ready for the day .. and made rhubarb jam!!! It's so easy and makes me smile.

lucysmam · 08/06/2023 08:19

I'm off work atm, probably long-term. A colleague messaged out of the blue this morning to say she's missing me & our breakfast club antics, and send me a virtual hug. Made me both smile, and cry a little bit 🥰

PoxyAndIKnowIt · 08/06/2023 08:51

Weighed myself today to find out I was overweight! I'm so pleased!

I had been obese for a few years, but intermittent fasting, low carb and treadmill are working their magic and I'm now, comfortably 'only' overweight!

Reading your post has made me happy today… I totally agree!

DS2, 5, produced a daisy out of his pocket this morning and gave it to his teacher. She seemed genuinely delighted with it. It's lovely to know he is in safe hands when I leave him in the morning.

I'm about to get started on painting my hallway. I love that satisfying pop noise you get when you open a brand new tin of paint.
