After the death of Paul o Grady it occurred to me I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him before or after death- ditto George Michael
Other celebs I can think of are David Attenborough and Peter Kay
Are there any others?

Paul McCartney but I’m aware MN doesn’t like him. I do 😍

Why doesn't MN like him? 🤷‍♀️

Umanresources · 22/04/2023 14:56

I hope Rick Astley is as lovely as he seems.

longwayoff · 22/04/2023 14:57

Jay Rayner. Unless you own a pretentious overpriced restaurant.

He stole brushes, canvases and tubes of Cadmium Yellow from art supplies stores and would often flick paint at members of the production staff. He was a git.

Kidding. He was probably a top bloke.

Lol

OssieShowman · 22/04/2023 15:04

Jane Goodall

Beyoncè

There are loads of videos about how she treated people, including her ex-band mates, which are not good! Not saying they’re correct, don’t know anything about her, just saying lots of people have bad things to say about her

TheLunarModule · 22/04/2023 15:06

Here's one: Gary Lineker. I'd say universally loved, apart from complete twats who take massive exception to the fact he might share opinions that differ from theirs.

Eh? I agree with a fair few of his opinions but I don’t love him and I think he’s hugely overpaid. In fact, I have yet to meet anyone who thinks he is ‘universally loved’.

Jay Rayner. Unless you own a pretentious overpriced restaurant.

I like to imagine there's a table waiting in paradise for Jay Rayner and Grace Dent.

michaelmacrae · 22/04/2023 15:10

I'm a huge Cillian Murphy fan (see username) and I've not heard a bad word about him. He seems universally loved and respected. ❤

Badbudgeter · 22/04/2023 15:11

Keane reeves is supposed to be a good guy.

@PrtScn @justasoul

Oh that's interesting I hadn't seen it

To be honest Matthew Perry didn't come across like a particularly nice person in a book he wrote about himself!

He was trying to be honest, and when you've been off your face on drugs for 30 years you probably aren't very nice tbf.
I did like that he took full responsibility for his actions- there was no "poor little me" at all.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/04/2023 15:29

@Clementineorsatsuma

Interesting how people have different experiences with.books isn't it? I found it VERY poor little me

Pierce Brosnan.
Joanna Lumley - how can anyone dislike her?!

If you’re thinking Pierce Brosnan, then maybe you shouldn’t be living heeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrre.

(Niche Adam & Joe joke, potentially not understood by many.)

I still cant get my head around Paul O Grady been best mates with Cilla. Ive never heard anything nice said about her, Im surprised he had any time for her. It obviously worked.

I was puzzled at the friendship too

Mostar · 22/04/2023 14:11

Fuck. I'm going to have to stop following this thread. Seems all my fave celebs are evil. I'm logging off before you tell me Piers Morgan is a wankhammer and that Jeremy Clarkson beats his servants.

Grin Grin Grin

Jane Goodall

She supports chimps n chimps are evil monkey eating horrors. Plus she makes the chimps work in a diamond mine for her gain, was on the telly so must be true lol

AwaaFaeHom · 22/04/2023 16:35

Paul O Grady was a bit of a bitch about his former neighbours, in his autobiography. I'm not sure that he's as nice as people seem to think.

Scout2016 · 22/04/2023 07:51

Bill Nighy. The Sylvanian Family rabbit at the Oscars sealed it for me.
Please don't tell me bad things about him!

I wouldn't want to hear anything bad either!

I LOVE Bill Nighy!

Emotionalsupportviper · 22/04/2023 16:52

Lzzyisgod · 22/04/2023 09:01

Bernard Cribbins!!

Oh, yes!

Bernard Cribbins always seemed lovely.

Not me I'm afraid. Heard a nasty story from someone who did some work in his house. He rather horridly played around about whether he was going to pay them (work was fine). His wife told him not to be a dick and just pay up! Never liked his on screen simpering ever since.

He's someone I've always got an unpleasant, snarky vibe from - never understood his popularity.

Spidey66 · 22/04/2023 17:13

I’d heard stories about Alan Davies being difficult to work with and also heard the story about him biting a homeless man’s ear.

and sorry I don’t get the Rylan love. Can’t bear him, and what makes it worse is the man’s everywhere.

stayathomer · 22/04/2023 17:16

Reading these if WE were celebrities- the everyday person on mn, surely everyone can have dirt dug up on them, or has had a day someone could twist around and say ‘she’s a b’
