After the death of Paul o Grady it occurred to me I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him before or after death- ditto George Michael
Other celebs I can think of are David Attenborough and Peter Kay
Are there any others?

I always remember reading an article years ago from a journalist who interviewed celebrities regularly. When asked about the nicest celebrity he ever met/interviewed he said Angelina Jolie. Said she was down to earth, funny and a pleasure to deal with.

Endlesssummer2022 · 22/04/2023 10:31

David Attenborough is a national treasure, however, Prince William started spouting bollocks about climate change being the result of too many babies being born in Africa when his family has a larger carbon footprint in one day than an entire African village uses in a year. And I’d be surprised if Attenborough has been walking everywhere, only eating what he’s grown himself and carefully recycling for his entire life.

Endlesssummer2022 · 22/04/2023 10:32

I meant to say Prince William starting saying these things when he teamed up with David Attenborough.

Mary Berry

No, not after she made a sly dig at Delia Smith for being childless...

Mark Owen of Take That is lovely. So is the Oscar nominated actress Carey Mulligan.

I also like the dog trainer -Graham Hall- he seems a good egg.

Definitely agree - he seems lovely! 🥰

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 22/04/2023 10:37

Paul Rudd

PrincessHoneysuckle · 22/04/2023 10:39

Dwayne Johnson

Might have been said but Tom Hanks 🥰

There are a lot of rumours, he's far from being universally loved

WimbyAce · 22/04/2023 10:42

Chris Hemsworth

Willmafrockfit · 22/04/2023 10:43

Una Stubbs

An Irish celebrity that people tend to like is John Connors, the actor, but I met him and he's a self-important wanker.

ActDottie · 22/04/2023 10:46

I agree with your list except from Peter Kay!

No one. Everyone who’s been put on a pedestal seems to fall off eventually including Aung San Suu Kyi, the Dalai Lama and Mother Theresa.

That said, I would be sad to hear anything negative about Kriss Akabusi. He visited our primary school in the 80’s and was lovely. He even had his photo taken with each child individually and managed to smile broadly throughout. And there were well over 300 of us!

Yes Kriss Akabusi! We bumped into him at the airport once and he was lovely 😁

If Dame Maggie doesn't have a waspish tongue in private life I will be sadly disappointed!

She does. My friend works as an extra. She’s not always pleasant to them and was once told off by another famous actor for the way she spoke to them (I can’t remember who it was though). I don’t think I would mind though. I still love her. Judi Dench on the other hand is apparently delightful.

Here's one: Gary Lineker. I'd say universally loved, apart from complete twats who take massive exception to the fact he might share opinions that differ from theirs.

I've read a lot of negative stuff about Alan Davies here and I can believe it, having heard a colleague's experience. She was a big fan of his, went to a show, afterwards went into a pub and there he was. She went over to him, planning just to say very briefly how good it had been and then leave him in peace. He was really rude to her and cut her off before she could even speak. She was very upset. If he didn't want anybody to speak to him, he should have gone home or back to his hotel room!

He also bit a homeless man’s ear

Michael Rosen.

So universally loved apart from by the many people who don't like him, then?

Mark Owen of Take That is lovely. So is the Oscar nominated actress Carey Mulligan.

The same Mark Owen who had at least 10 affairs on his wife . The story only died down because Ashley Cole’s cheating on Cheryl was exposed.

I haven't rtft so not sure if anyone has mentioned her but I've only ever seen absolutely lovely things said about Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) by people who have worked with her. She would stick up for cast and crew, tell the bosses 'no' on their behalf and take new people under her wing.

Pedro Pascal had a bit part in the series where Buffy is at college and he said she was incredibly kind, made him feel welcome and looked after him. That wasn't her job, but playing the titular role gave her some power, and she used it to help others on set.

I’ve heard this too and also that Joss Weadon (the creator) tried to cause problems between SMG and the rest of the cast. For example for a photo shoot he had told SMG that her photos had to be alone and told the others that SMG didn’t want the others to be photographed with the rest of the cast (I think Emma Caudfield told this story). Such a horrible man!

I agree with Dolly Parton.

Can't find the post I'm trying to reply to but I'm a huge Celtic fan and I love Ally McCoist. He's a great pundit and a real advocate for Scottish football and players.

Concur with this.

Many years ago my sister's petrol gauge was faulty and she ran out of petrol on single lane, back road. Ally McCoist stopped whilst others beeped and drove past, drove her to the nearest petrol station, filled the can in his boot, paid for it, bought sweets for her DS (age 5 sitting in awe in his school uniform), drove her back, sorted the petrol and said 'No bother'. DNEPHEW from that moment on stated he was a Rangers fan- in a family of Celtic supporters that's a big statement for a 5 year old 😂- and remains a season ticket holder now aged 21!

Utter gentleman. Everyone loves him.

Another vote for Graeme

Louis Theroux seems like a lovely bloke. Even the people he is exposing as racist/weirdos/etc seem to like him.
