Threads you always click on even though you have no skin in the game

And let me start by apologising for using such a wanky phrase but it does work well for this particular thread ;)

For me, it's dog threads. I don't have a dog, no real strong feelings on them and definitely no plans to get one, but I find the threads fascinating (and lets face it there are a lot of them at the moment).

Other ones are inheritance ones - I'm not in line for any inheritance and not even sure what probate is but love these threads.

Anyone else do this for threads that have no real relevance to them?

Can’t believe nobody has mentioned the laundry threads yet. Absolute Peak MN.

Tentoseveninthemorning · 21/04/2023 17:13

I've never been on a laundry thread... I'm intrigued.

Drying your washing… spider willies.. things being darked on… I never iron…. Heated airers.. my goodness I love those threads.

Botw1 · 21/04/2023 17:58

Cleaning threads in general

If you dint wash yourself and every item in your house at least twice a day you're an absolute minger

DahliaMacNamara · 21/04/2023 18:13

No skin in the game whatsoever: plane threads. Seat allocations and anti-social reclining especially. Lovely stuff.

getafringenotbotox · 21/04/2023 18:18

Parking and anything on aibu

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 21/04/2023 18:30

CF, parking and aeroplane seat allocation threads fill me with joy.

My favourite though are door threads, because I love all the random scenarios people make up as to what you'll miss out on if you don't open your door immediately.

'What colour are these eyes,' threads should be banned though for being boring as shit.

Tentoseveninthemorning · 21/04/2023 18:39

These threads make me love mumsnet all the more 😂

Baby names, I weirdly love those threads and can spend ages thinking of good names.

I also occasionally like to visit the adoption boards, mainly because they're all so lovely and supportive of one another.

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 21/04/2023 19:03

I often lurk on 'Tack Room' threads. Never owned a horse, never will own a horse, have ridden one precisely once in my life, but for some reason I find people discussing horsey stuff fascinating.

chickenwings2 · 21/04/2023 19:08

Bad husband ones even though mine is wonderful ahah

Tentoseveninthemorning · 21/04/2023 21:18

Also any thread entitled 'I am fuming'. I'm literally going in now. No idea what the OP is fuming about.

There was a long-running thread called "The Brave Babes Battlebus". Never failed to read the updates.

Botw1 · 21/04/2023 21:21

I've just been told to keep posting on threads that I've no experience of because someone searched me and found this thread

🤣🤣

Too meta

Tentoseveninthemorning · 21/04/2023 21:25

That’s brilliant @Botw1 😂

I know!!

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 21/04/2023 21:27

How old do you think I am?
What possesses people to start them!

Ooolaaaala · 21/04/2023 21:29

The Royal Family threads - often pop on when feeling wound up IRL about something - makes me feel better about myself to see the loons gnashing and frothing (on both sides) about absolutely nothing.

CoolCalmCollected · 21/04/2023 13:37

The whole of Style & Beauty but especially the "what are you wearing today" ones. I love seeing the outfits.

When I ventured into that I thought I was going to find some really stunning outfits but it's just people in jeans and jumpers most days. It's all very odd.

KillerSandy · 21/04/2023 21:32

MIL threads. I'm not one 😂

CatherineCawoodsScarf · 21/04/2023 21:38

I like the private/boarding school threads. I don’t have kids but I find them fascinating. Particularly the ones with in-depth knowledge of certain schools.

BobGalaxy · 21/04/2023 21:52

The 'should I have another child' threads, even though I only have one who is nearly a teenager and I'm single!

JockTamsonsBairns · 22/04/2023 12:02

Definitely any food/weight related threads. I'm right in there.

Also, "can anyone guess the age of the child who wrote this?" type threads. They bring out all the MNers who have 3.5 year olds writing in full sentences with correct punctuation. Not had one of those for a while.

HowManySunflowers · 22/04/2023 13:23

Oh, loads! Step parenting, nightmare toddlers (I haven't had toddlers for a decade now), baby names, pregnancy/infertility.

MyMachineAndMe · 22/04/2023 13:42

The how often do you shower or change your bedding or wash your towels ones. I read them and feel like a total slob.

The ones where the op is fuming about something, often about something I wouldn't even notice if it happened to me.

The ones where they wring their hands about their dc having no sugar, no juice or squash, no processed food etc etc and are competitive about how wholesome their kids' diets are when we've literally just told our dc to get a packet of crisps because the apples are for pack-ups next week.

The ones where they're competitively uninterested in the coronation and the extra bank holiday. "I didn't even realise it was happening, ha ha ha!" Bollocks did you not know unless you actually live under a rock.
