Thread 7 - TalkLair: “In fact it’s an oblate spheroid”

Continuation of previous threads (thread 6).
The new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey; we have truly settled here. Outside, the garden is blooming with spring flowers. Inside, the hearth is glowing, pictures are up on the walls, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Wee bit over the top but fair play to them and their acquired taste.

I'm in the Peak District! Currently at "home with Seamus (greyhound) because the others are on a walk that's too long for me and my arthritic body. It also means they can take that specific walk because there are stiles that are not greyhound friendly. I did manage 6k yesterday so go me. I met these women while we were out and all of them let me rub their noses.

Hello lovely cow ladies!

450 grand for that?! The decor is like a hairdresser's acid comedown!

duc748 · 26/04/2023 14:41

On a notepad on my table, right under Mondays' UC scores, I've written 'Wednesday, 11.20'.

Nope, not a scooby! It's not a doctor or dentist appt, and I can't think what else. No visits from workmen planned. Well, 11.20 has been and gone (assuming it means am), and no bollocking texts or phone calls. I may never know!

Tricyrtis2022 · 26/04/2023 14:45

Something on the radio?

artant · 26/04/2023 15:22

That house is extraordinary. So familiar from the outside but so alien on the inside!

MavisMcMinty · 26/04/2023 15:23

When I saw the cow photo I thought it was a calf on their side with its amputated limbs hanging out of the window.

That's dark!

MavisMcMinty · 26/04/2023 15:24

…With the calf looking beseechingly over its left shoulder, I mean.

MavisMcMinty · 26/04/2023 15:24

Too much Stephen King, Brit.

Britinme · 26/04/2023 15:28

I just had an email telling me about the death of a friend I've known since university days. Apparently she fell while she was at the flat of a mutual friend from that time and broke her replacement hip, which meant an operation, and she unexpectedly died on the operating table. I think she must have been in her late seventies - a few years older than me. I've just been writing emails to our friendship group from that time. My first husband was part of that group - in fact I got to know them all through him, and I think when he died unexpectedly 22 years ago now it must have sent a similar shock wave through the group, though I was too wrapped up in myself to notice at the time.

Too much Stephen King, Brit.

Probably!

SinnerBoy · 26/04/2023 15:34

I'm sorry for you with that sad news.

artant · 26/04/2023 15:48

Sad news about your friend @Britinme

Kucinghitam · 26/04/2023 16:01

Oh, that is such a sad email to receive @Britinme.

Slight correction - apparently the operation on Monday lasted 5 and a half hours, and she appeared to be recovering. The friend who wrote to tell me said that he WhatsApped with her on Monday evening and she appeared to be doing fine, but she suddenly died on Tuesday. I don't want to spread false news about the standards of British surgery.

@Britinme Horrible news to receive about your friend.

duc748 · 26/04/2023 16:33

Tric> I meant to say, it wouldn't be the radio, not a radio person. So it remains a mystery!

Tricyrtis2022 · 26/04/2023 16:47

That's really sad, @Britinme.

How strange!

Not knowing would really bug me.

Ginmonkeyagain · 26/04/2023 17:29

That is sad @Britinme . Sadly survival rates for emergency hip ops in older people are not great. This was the final push/pressure we used to persuade Papamonkey to get his elective hip op done a few years ago.

MouseMinge · 26/04/2023 17:41

I'm sorry for your news, @Britinme . I hope she went gently.

Britinme · 26/04/2023 17:45

I hope so.

UnfortunatePoster · 26/04/2023 18:56

So sorry to hear about your friend Brit.

Winterborne74 · 26/04/2023 19:48

Yes, what a shock.
