Grudges you continue to hold

Just drive a different way home, past a car wash and remembered how I refuse to use it on principle 😂
Years ago, I was in a hurry and no one in front - as I drove in, and was being 'washed' by one of the chaps, the one in charge allowed someone to jump the queue as they were 'in a hurry' and 'just wanted a spritz' - nope, they reversed all the way back, had everything, and I sat fuming at the the queue jumpy enablement.
Refuse to go back, I'm sure they are disappointed 😂

Was it relevant that it was a Jewish deli? Or just a deli? Just wondering because my possible Antisemitism-Spidey-Senses are twitching.

I don't think it's anti-Semitic just adding some detail. I like to hear about all kinds of delis and imagine what delights they have.

I assumed the poster was Jewish!

@orangedalmatian I've just handed my notice in. I think I'm going to be feeling the same way. I hate the owners, I hate the managers. Those people have bulldozed a job that I loved and made it one that I hate. And for that I hate them.

My ex partner for chopping down a beautiful tree in our front garden while I was on holiday with young dc.

He had always moaned about it as it had beautiful pink and white flowers that dropped all over the lawn but I refused to let him touch it.

This was in 1995 so I hold grudges for ages.

Even now when I see these trees (can't remember the name) out in flower this time of year it causes me a pang of sadness.

Just one rotten thing he did. Apart from cheating on me and leaving with my Oasis cd (he didn't even like Oasis).

Was it a magnolia?

Apairofsparklingeyes · 18/04/2023 12:46

Many years ago I had a really mean boss that bullied most of the staff where we worked. She was a really nasty piece of work and a few years after I left I heard that she had died. After being told about the death, I walked around for a few minutes singing ‘ding dong the witch is dead’ and I suspect I’m not the only one!

LeFeu · 18/04/2023 12:46

I won’t use spec savers anymore.

their optician tried to refuse to see me then continued to be incredibly rude when I was late for my appointment….because the fire alarm was going off in the building and security literally were barring people from entering. All the staff had just got back in the building and I showed up at the desk but apparently that made me “late” for my appointment.

I refused to leave until I was seen but he was an absolute dick about it and tried to shame me into leaving.

Not me but my great aunt and uncle. When cousin was small they had a family dog, much loved and whom had had serious health issues the year before. There are two vets in their town, Lovely Vet and Terrible Vet. Lovely vet had worked really hard with the dog, tried everything and basically refused to give up. The result was dog was almost back to full health and everyone was very happy.

One day dog escaped, - lots of panic from cousin and his brothers and great aunt and uncle and kids spent the day looking and phoning vets etc. It eventually transpired that the dog had been picked up by a well meaning passerby and taken to Terrible Vets. Instead of ringing the phone number on the collar (this was before the days of chipping) they put the dog down.

When confronted they said dog didnt look very healthy and they assumed was a stray etc etc. Entire family was devasted - you can imagine how upset they were. When Lovely Vet found out he rang Terrible Vets (from the reception of the vets so all the customers could hear) and absolutely ripped him to shreds - he was so angry after all of everyone's efforts to get dog back to good health. Whole family was absolutely fuming but of course nothing could be done.

Even now anyone in the family and extended family refuse point blank to use Terrible Vets and merrily slag them off when ever the opportunity arises. Great aunt and uncle are extremely elderly now but are still viciously angry about the whole thing and get very worked up if its ever mentioned.

I had my contract terminated and did not get the benefit of gardening leave, so had to work there for a further 3.5 months, which really damaged my mental health at that time. I live in a different city now, but that building is visible from a main road and if I do happen to go past it, I always give it the V sign.

Mercy1968 · 18/04/2023 12:49

I went to a sandwich shop in central London (a branded one). I wanted a cheese and onion sandwich. They make sandwiches to order but have a list of pre made ones.

She said sorry for a cheese and onion sandwich, I need to charge you cheese and tomato but add on onion. I said err no, I don't want tomato, so just charge me cheese and tomato because an onion cannot be more than tomato. She said no, onion has to be added on. I said no way. She said there is a massive queue behind you and you are causing disruption and this is management and head office policy. I said who is the manager then and she said I am. And stood there with her plastic gloved hands staring at me daring me to challenge her again.

I said fine, I won't have anything. Walked out. Never ordered from there again. I am CFO of a big organisation and we often need catered in food which we used to order from them and I put a block on ever using them again because of her behaviour 😬

monkeysonthemoon · 18/04/2023 12:55

Growing up we didn't have much money, but my mum had bought me (aged 13) a much coveted pair of boots. They weren't made of leather and unfortunately they had been left too near the fire one evening so had melted a bit on the side, but I loved them anyway and they were still wearable. I had gone to my friend's birthday party with some other girls from school, my friend's mum noticed the melted bit on my boots and asked me what had happened to them. I explained that they had melted because they were left too close to the fire, to which she sneerily remarked "oh, so they're not leather then". I'm nearly 65 now and that nasty comment still annoys me, I hope she enjoyed her Superiority Moment over a young teenager.

My SIL has been a complete and utter vile cunt to my mum in the last year. I will never speak to her or my spineless arsehole of a brother ever again. I wish unspeakable things on the two of them.

I could have written this!!! OMG! I can't believe there is another vile cunt out there similar to my 'SIL' nor another brother who needs to grow some after also being an absolute cunt to our Mum! I thought they broke the mould when SIL was hatched in hell.

thisshizisbananas · 18/04/2023 12:56

I was bullied on my PGCE by my class teacher mentor and university tutor. Although neither are employed by the school or university any more, I continue to flick my middle finger surreptitiously at the school and university building when I pass. That bullying cost me dearly. I was signed off with anxiety which years later i'm trying to unpick, as well as not being able to complete a qualification which I had worked very hard for. I'd also given up a secure job to the course, as well as the additional student loan debt I'll be paying off til god knows when. Anyway, I was secretly delighted when the school - which had been outstanding for years - was deemed inadequate during its last inspection. There a thread about it on here. I'm one of at least four trainee teachers who have been bullied on their placements there, yet the university continues to send students there.

I also have a massive grudge against a bullying boss I had years ago. I regularly google her to ensure that she has not moved anywhere I'm likely to encounter her (we work in the same industry). She seems to last no longer then 18 months in any job, presumably they keep finding her out.

We all cheer when Manchester City lose at football.

An ex of mine was a fan. I haven't seen him for a decade but the cheering continues!

Not much cheering recently then!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 18/04/2023 13:00

A lad on my university course very frequently photocopied my lecture notes, borrowed my assignments to read, and let me take the lead in any group work. And yet it was he who got the first and I a 2:1…

No one’s ever been bothered about my degree classification, but every time I think about it I get cross over 20 years later.

TigerTony · 18/04/2023 13:01

Thirteen years ago a good friend called size ten me "the fat one of the group". Literally cannot move on from it.

I haven't worked for Julie for 4 years now but I still flick the Vs at her building on the odd occasion I drive past.

😂There's a route through town which snakes past a certain business which did me down atrociously years ago, & I always 'flick the Vs' at it (though under the level of the car windows, so nobody sees).

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 18/04/2023 13:04

Charity shop in a little town I drive through sometimes, was there with my mother as a youngster and got an utter bollocking by the nasty bat that ran it because I'd picked up an ornament. Gave it the V's for years (even though the bat will have long since passed) then recently it changed into a mini mart so now I just smugly smile whenever I drive past it instead.

Building where my drama teacher did his local productions out of when not teaching also got the Vs. He was a total twat who got his classes involved in his latest project as "classwork" and probably stole their ideas. He then bought in an X Files magazine for a boy in my class who was a fan. When I asked him if I could get a copy too and was willing to pay for it, (unlike the freebie for the favourite), I just got ignored.

We had a class outside once and I was trying to remember something I'd seen to give as an example because he had asked a question and we were going round answering it, and I was preparing the answer in my head. He loudly told me off for "daydreaming". Best day ever when he fucked off, and replaced by a lovely no nonsense lady who didn't have time for bollocks, and I always got excellent feedback from her!

Looooong grudges Grin

Alondra · 18/04/2023 13:05

I always remember if I've been given an awful service or a friend was a CF or took advantage of me. Not because I'm holding grudges, but I try not to make the same mistake twice.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 18/04/2023 13:06

A friend at school once copied some of my answers in a test & I thought it was mutual, so I tried to copy her answer to ONE question & she covered it over.

Not that I'm bitter, but it was 50 years ago & I still remember the question.

Years ago we bought a mattress and bed frame from Harveys which was due to be delivered on our moving day into our first home. On the day they turned up with our mattress and when I rang them it turned out our bed frame was on a boat. We asked for a refund they would not refund as the item was in transit. So we slept on the mattress on the floor. Weekly calls and letters followed to Harveys who insisted the bed frame was on its way. After a month I got particularly shirty and insisted they provide up with a mattress base while we were waiting. After 6 months and with an awful lot of letters and phone calls trying to get our money back they eventually agreed to refund us on the proviso that they collected the base and the mattress. So we wrapped both of them up in plastic and watched as they carried both the mattress and base, which had been used for six months, to their van. My husband got in his truck and followed the van back to their depot where they stopped opened the back of the van and rested the wrapped mattress and base on the floor next to a skip and drove off. My husband loaded the mattress and base onto his truck and brought them back home! It was the biggest 'f*ck you' we could give to Harveys who gave the worst customer service I had ever experienced. I never bought anything from them again and when they went bust I celebrated!

Cattenberg · 18/04/2023 13:10

A bus driver refused to let me off for ages after I pressed the Stop button, leaving me standing at the front of the bus like a lemon.

Not only did I not thank him when I got off, I now walk into town instead (4 mile round trip). Take that, First Bus!

Love this!

Boggles the mind that they chose to take the mattress back only to bin it, when they could have earned good will at no cost by letting you keep it.

No wonder they went under.
