a snack or a meal?

I'd say it's breakfast, lunch or a light tea (tend to have one slice but third can beans). If it were going to be a main meal, then I'd be looking at two slices toast, half can beans, add a bit of cheese and a tomato on the side.

Lizzt2007 · 14/04/2023 10:46

Depends on the size of the portion. One slice of toast and a couple of spoons of beans is a snack, two slices and more beans a meal.

No, no, no, beans must never tough egg under any circumstances.

WOT NO EGG WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU WOMAN? 😂

caringcarer · 14/04/2023 10:48

A tasty lunch especially if cooking with a couple of sausages.

Spanielsarepainless · 14/04/2023 10:50

Two slices of toast with beans and topped with grated cheese is definitely a substantial lunch in this house.

pictoosh · 14/04/2023 10:51

It's a meal. Definitely.

Yolk mixing with bean juice Envy

Bean juice on egg white Envy

Bean juice all over chips though...
I sometimes wish you could get tins of just bean juice.

A meal!

Comefromaway · 14/04/2023 10:54

I love egg and bean juice mixed!

But I absolutely DETEST cheese

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/04/2023 10:57

How many beans, how many slices of toast?
That is the question.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/04/2023 10:59

If you want egg and beans, the way to do it is to first add some chipotle Tabasco to the beans in a bowl, maybe also some smoked paprika, then make a well in the middle and break in an egg. Cover and microwave until the egg yolk is very nearly set but still bright yellow.

uhOhOP · 14/04/2023 11:00

It's a snack, unless it's followed by two biscuits, in which case it is a meal.

Comefromaway · 14/04/2023 11:01

I don;t like any of those things (chipotle, tabasco, paprika) so will just stick to the egg and beans.

Now, egg chips and beans with a round of bread for a chip butty. Yum!

Skybluepinky · 14/04/2023 11:03

Would depend on portion size

evtheria · 14/04/2023 11:05

I wish I'd not seen the comments on "bean juice" Envy

DelilahJane · 14/04/2023 11:06

Half a tin for lunch, full tin for dinner.

difficultdifficultlemondifficult · 14/04/2023 11:16

For a main meal I would do two large slices of bread some grated cheese and a side salad to fill it out a bit.

It's a healthy ish decent filling meal for when there just isn't enough time to do something better

Oblomov23 · 14/04/2023 11:19

Both. You can make it either.

HighInfidelity · 14/04/2023 11:24

I would generally have it for breakfast or lunch but there’s no reason it can’t be a snack as well. I don’t think there are any rules about what a snack is are there?

theysaiditgetseasier · 14/04/2023 11:26

Light meal, if main meal I'd add some eggs / sausage

DrFoxtrot · 14/04/2023 11:30

It's a meal. Anything that requires more effort than grabbing it quickly is not a snack to me!

MaccyD100 · 14/04/2023 11:43

Can be either. Plenty of people, depending on age, height, level of activity etc, need the odd 300 calorie snack. And beans on toast is way healthier than a Mars bar / frappe / muffin etc which are completely normalised . So all in all a pretty good snack idea.

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/04/2023 11:49

It's a meal for me but if an evening meal, I'd also have a couple of veggie sausages for extra protein.

bellalou1234 · 14/04/2023 11:53

It's a food of the gods
