How does your Easter Sunday compare to Easter Sunday in advertising land?

We don't go overboard for Easter, tomorrow we will be at church in the morning followed by an egg hunt at my parents and a roast. The marketing this year seems to have been worse than ever, with images of families feasting akin to Christmas! It all seems so OTT.
We are having roast Welsh Lamb (bought on offer in Aldi) with all the usual trimmings followed by a homemade raspberry cheesecake, the total cost for the food for 6 adults is just under £20 and there will be leftovers. We will have some wine too and that is about £6.00 a bottle.
We make a bit more effort than a normal Sunday but it won't break the bank.
What will you be doing tomorrow?

Well, we are all coming out of viruses, so I suspect it will be v muted, no fancy dinner, and I plan a run to the tip!

LlynTegid · 08/04/2023 17:52

A lot less chocolate!!!

GettingStuffed · 08/04/2023 17:55

We don't really celebrate it, well be having lamb on Monday as TH is involved in his hobby tomorrow.

We'll spend the day decorating and have a pasta bake for tea.

TheInterceptor · 08/04/2023 17:57

Less diverse

CiaoBellisima · 08/04/2023 17:58

No different to an average Sunday here, but we are not religious.

MandaLynn · 08/04/2023 17:59

Tbh @Oceans1000 your plans sound exactly like what's advertised for Easter. Church, egg hunt, Sunday roast with lamb.

NormalForNuneaton · 08/04/2023 17:59

When the DC were younger we'd do an Easter egg hunt in the garden but that was all.

When they grew up it was just like any other Sunday but with chocolate. Sometimes a Sunday roast, sometimes not. Nothing that acknowledges that it's Easter Sunday really

Exhibity · 08/04/2023 17:59

I'm going for a walk with my daughter and her new puppy.

curlywillow · 08/04/2023 18:02

We’re not religious but will do our traditional Easter egg hunt in the woods even though dc are now 18 and 16, then my DSis is hosting family lunch which will be a roast with all the trimmings. I’m making a rhubarb and strawberry crumble for pudding with ice cream. No doubt her home will look like an insta Easter home with lots of decorations since she likes to make as big effort.

icebearforpresident · 08/04/2023 18:02

I’m going to stay in my pj’s until lunchtime at least and eat my body weight in chocolate.

AlltheFs · 08/04/2023 18:03

My parents are coming for lunch and an egg hunt at home, we have a 3 year old. The house has decorations up that my MIL sent which DD loves but we have never bothered before now.
We are having roast lamb, puddings and a bit of booze. DD has many eggs. The eggs came from family, we have probably spent £60 on food and wine, the lamb was £28 from Aldi but there will be leftovers. Very low key but pre-DD we did nothing at all so it’s a development!
DD has also been doing Easter arts and crafts courtesy of MIL and nursery.

That made me laugh.

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 08/04/2023 18:04

Church in the morning, including an Easter egg hunt, then lunch with family. Not sure what's on the menu as we're not hosting, possibly roast chicken or maybe salmon. There will definitely be pudding!

Ponderingwindow · 08/04/2023 18:06

I’ve bought my dc some chocolate. It isn’t even Easter chocolate, just some chocolate I know she will like.

we will decorate some hard boiled eggs because we like a good craft project and we will eat the eggs for lunches over the next few days.

that’s it. We don’t really do Easter.

CMOTDibbler · 08/04/2023 18:06

We'll go to Ds's sport in the morning (well, walk the dogs while he trains), then go to the cinema in the afternoon. So not at all like advertised

Stropalotopus83 · 08/04/2023 18:06

We've all had covid and so I haven't been able to go into town to buy eggs etc until today because I've felt so rotten. Got the kids an egg each from the sad bunch that was left on the shelf and have bought stuff for a slightly nicer Sunday roast than usual (nice stuffing and extra sides). That's about all I can manage as still not feeling great despite testing negative today. We were invited to Easter lunch with the in laws and rest of the family but we decided not to risk it as PIL are vulnerable and despite testing negative none of us are feeling 100%. It's not worth the risk given that the kids are 14 and 19 now! Kids are fine with this btw - Easter has never really been much more than a family get together for a nice roast and some eggs so as long as they get their roast and a token egg they seem quite happy!

gwenneh · 08/04/2023 18:06

I'll go to the yard in the morning and ride, then we have friends visiting from abroad so we're going to spend some time with them.

I have a terrible cold and there are too many CEV people in my extended family to see them, so we'll do a late Easter with them in a few weeks.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 08/04/2023 18:07

My DP is working both Sunday and Monday. Long shifts so no point cooking anything nice for tea as he can't guarantee when he'll be home.

No Easter eggs for us adults as neither of us are willing to waste the money on them. My dad has bought my kids an egg but this will be kept to a small piece a day for my toddler and nothing for the younger one. I've also eaten the buns he brought for them.

Mynameisntrelevant · 08/04/2023 18:07

Lazy morning, film and chocolate, then egg hunt in garden and roast dinner just us 4. Maybe a walk...

ClassicLib · 08/04/2023 18:07

Definitely no religion here, and no egg hunts either. DP is at a competition for his sport tomorrow afternoon, so I will go for a walk, eat chocolate & chill. Then it’s paella for dinner & we will watch the Masters golf in the evening.

BabychamGlass · 08/04/2023 18:07

I was raised in a very Catholic household, so Easter was a Big Deal.

Nowadays, as an atheist, I enjoy making it all about nothing special- a roast lamb, a nice pudding and a chocolate egg. Lovely.

Hellocatshome · 08/04/2023 18:07

DS1s 16th birthday tomorrow so we are not really doing Easter Sunday this year. But in a normal Easter Sunday we have an Easter egg hunt in the moring and a roast of some description at lunch time and then walk it off with a dog walk on the afternoon.

TribeD · 08/04/2023 18:10

Church at dawn (it's a lovely service), out with friends in the morning then back to ours for a roast.

Slimjimtobe · 08/04/2023 18:11

Getting over bugs here too so we had to cancel a weekend away and I am on a diet so there’s no chocolate for me (but hopefully it will be worth it long term)

will cook a roast beef joint and I will have it with veg but make Yorkshire’s for dh and kids and potatoes

very low today - just very tearful so I’m hoping to brighten up tomorrow (it’s not like me to be like this)
