How many people do you know with Covid right now?

LicoriceComfit · 07/04/2023 08:38

I know many people are not testing but I need to for my work.

I felt really sick and tested negative, but it was positive the next day. I’m feeling fairly rough, tired, no sense of smell, all the usual things. Two of the days I was incredibly wheezy.

A few days ago I was out with friends, half of us have tested positive and have symptoms. My son - who wasn’t out with us - now has it.

I know of two people currently in hospital with it.

I don’t know if this is being replicated as a new wave around the country, or just in my circle in Glasgow.

No idea but no one I know is testing

Cherry321 · 07/04/2023 08:39

I have it. I probably caught it in Glasgow when I went for work. I’m on day 9 and still really ill with it. Don’t know if the jabs are wearing off or it’s a different version. But it’s grim. Hope you feel better soon.

  1. Also require testing for work, absence levels lately have been atrocious.Scotland too

No one actually.
We still test if under the weather, which thankfully isn't often.

disappointed101 · 07/04/2023 08:41

Following as I’m testing negative but similar symptoms as last time. I work with children and a lot of them snotty/coughing/rashy/sick/tummy aches before holidays but who knows?

starfish4 · 07/04/2023 08:44

Four at work. If you font test at home and have symptoms, they ask you to take a test which they supply.

One friend has just got over it, but his wife now has symptoms.

I guess it depends on the area, but my main colleagues in two work places test, as does my family (wider) and friends. Lots of us are 40s-60s, whether age makes a difference.

starfish4 · 07/04/2023 08:45

Sorry, forgot to say, hope you're both OK and shake off whatever soon.

Sallycinnamum · 07/04/2023 08:46

My DH is currently really poorly with his first bout of Covid and 3 members of my team have it after catching it from a work event.

TimeForMeToF1y · 07/04/2023 08:46

No one I know currently but the few 100 people I know aren't representative of the whole population. Do they stlll publish the data in cases, that's going to the only way to get an accurate answer on how prevalent covid is today

sorrynotathome · 07/04/2023 08:46

Yes a fair few but not seriously unwell. I still haven't had it! I have a few tests left and have tested whenever I've had cold/flu symptoms but so far always negative. When I run out of tests I won't bother any more.

emmathedilemma · 07/04/2023 08:47

I know 5 people who've had it in the last few weeks (3 for the 1st time, 2 for the 2nd or 3rd time). I'm also in Scotland.

Schmutter · 07/04/2023 08:48

None. But I don’t know anyone that needs to test.

It won't be accurate at all, as people aren't testing now. It will only be hospitalised cases. The data that gets published has been extrapolated/modelled for ages.

memesndmoreme · 07/04/2023 08:54

None and I don't test, don't actually know anyone who does.

Some GP surgeries are testing people with viral illnesses who come in. Part of a national program It's really interesting to see the amount of COVID compared to the other viruses when the statistics come through. At one point the COVID section was barely visible on the bar charts compared to flu and RSV.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 07/04/2023 09:00

I’m in Glasgow as well. Similar to you. Ive
just had it a couple of weeks ago. Tested negative, then the next day I was positive. It was just like a cold, seemed to bugger off within a few days but 2 weeks on I have a cough (didn’t get it when I had Covid) and sneezing and full of snot. Not sure if it’s Covid reflaring or a cold. I suspect I got it off my 17 year old, who was a bit under the weather but didn’t test as the guidance is not to test under 18s. I don’t know anyone else with it, but I reckon loads of people could have it and just think it’s a cold, especially if like us they test negative to start with.

Got to just get on with it now I guess.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 07/04/2023 09:04

I didn’t lose my taste and smell this time, just the usual kind of dulling that happens when you have a cold and can still discern some flavour/bitter/sour/toothpaste etc. last time I lost it completely.

Twinedpeaks · 07/04/2023 09:06

I don't know anyone who has had it since last summer, and people are still testing when ill. Weird

SpeckledlyHen · 07/04/2023 09:06

Dh and I both currently have covid. We both tested positive. He’s on day 10 and I’m on day 8. Both feel absolutely awful snd I think this is the sickest either of us have been in a very long time. We are in the south west. A lot of people here seem to be getting it and seemingly worse than previously with symptons.

TravellingSpoon · 07/04/2023 09:06

3 people at my work, 1 staff member and 2 service users.

SpringIntoChaos · 07/04/2023 09:06

I have just got over my fourth round of Covid. I was actually really poorly with it this time (2nd and 3rd not so bad). We had 9 teachers, plus the head and site manager all infected within a few days of each other. All of us were really ill 🤧

Remmy123 · 07/04/2023 09:07

I don't know anyone that's tests now

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 07/04/2023 09:08

It's still around unfortunately. My friend (healthy, early 40s, no underlying health conditions) had it 2 months ago and is now seeing a neurologist as it's left her with a severe tremor.

My colleague tested positive last week - she described it as like the flu, was bedridden for a few days and is now fine.

So 2 extremes, and I still test because of that.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 07/04/2023 09:09

Both times I’ve had it it’s been really very mild. Consider myself very fortunate. This time was worse in some ways as I had a temperature, but last time was worse in others as I lost my sense of taste and smell and my throat was very sore.

I was honestly stunned this time when I tested positive. I was certain it was a cold.

WunWun · 07/04/2023 09:11

None. A couple of weeks ago I would have been able to say four. They are all perfectly fine, back at work now.
