Anyone up for a ‘sort yourself out’ supportive encouraging thread?

Hi,
I’m 47, feeing old. I’ve very much lost my way with style, exercise, hair, you name it.
I need to:
lose two stone
decide what to do with my witchy mostly grey hair (I’ve been growing out dark brown dye for 10 months, decided to go grey, but I feel so old! Don’t know whether to go back to dye or stay grey).
mu wardrobe is a disaster. I have some decent smart work stuff but my casual clothes are basically lairy leggings and hoodies. I am a size 20.
My house needs a good clean and de clutter
I want to grow veg and have lovely flowers in the garden

Good bits:
I have a great husband, three fab kids and a job I love
I walk the dog for about 20 mins every day

Anyone want to join for self- improvement on an encouraging thread?

Today I ate my youngest’s Easter egg whilst hiding in the bathroom.

Stressybetty · 14/04/2023 23:17

I'm here! Still sticking to low carb diet and just restarted 5:2 fasting. Still need to start some walking or exercise. Sleep going better, am loving the bedtime stories with nothing much happens. Dyed my hair today which I kept putting off. Lots of stressful stuff still ongoing and will be for some time but managing to carry on.

Dracuuule · 15/04/2023 00:14

Great to see everyone's achievements.
My progress today -
Weights achieved
Intermittent fasting achieved
No wheat no sugar achieved
Water I didn't keep count again
Steps were rubbish
Skin care partly and will do my night routine in a bit
I still haven't started reading and haven't finished some work that I've been meaning to do.

IHateLegDay · 15/04/2023 00:58

I have 100% fallen off the wagon! The Easter half term has been so hectic that I've not been to the gym and I've eaten like a pig.
I caught sight of myself in the mirror earlier and wanted to cry. I'm obese.

So new day tomorrow!

I'm going to:

  • go for a walk
  • drink lots of water
  • eat more fruit

I hope you all have a good weekend!

BunsenBurnerBaby · 15/04/2023 06:13

@Handpickled how did you get on with fizzy water?

I cleaned and tidied the disaster zone by the back door yesterday (=massive dumping ground); I got a haircut (and actually felt pretty good about how I looked for the first time in a 100 years - also into my smaller jeans which happens about once every five years); and I went to bed early.

School hols are hard and I am a stressy mess cos of all the work I haven’t done and the next 6 weeks are chaos on a stick work wise but I have to find a way to keep moving forward anyway because life is like this all the time at moment. I ate all the rest of my Easter chocolate (and sampled the baking happening in the kitchen several times) so food was not ideal.

Today:
Speak to DH(!)
Eat the veggies in the fridge
clear the mountain of other people’s clothes, old bedding, blankets and assorted crap out of my bedroom

BunsenBurnerBaby · 15/04/2023 06:16

@CliffsofMohair sending 💐and hope today is better. Can you do something for you today? (I think trying to keep the wheels on the bus is really hard, especially when doing it for several people).

Doro371 · 15/04/2023 07:16

Good morning,
I went to bed ridiculously early last night and I slept so well! This didn't start my book but I think that was worth it 🙃
I don't get along too well concerning food and water but I have a week off work and I usually struggle with that outside my usual routine.
But we spent ours in the garden and it looks so much nicer. Went to the gym, too.
So my plans for today
-finally enough water
-finally clean the car
-make a huge plate of fruit and vegetables to snack on for me and my son. He needs to eat better, too, now that Easter is over!
Have a nice day, everyone

ILoveNigelTufnel · 15/04/2023 07:28

I’m still here too. Since I last posted, I’ve made the decision to use my phone less and be more active / do things that are good for me.
So far I have…. Walked at least 5km a day, read a whole actual real book and cut my phone usage of doom scrolling in half. Off to a good start. Need to up the exercise though, cut down portions of food and drink more water, that’s today plan. And tackle the mountain of washing that seems to have appeared…

Tayegete · 15/04/2023 07:34

I've had a bad couple of days eating wise and having lost 4lbs I've put 2 back on. Exercise was going well but I've developed plantar fasciitis in my feet and even walking around the house is painful. It's made me a bit depressed and feeling like I'll never make progress. Gym membership is up for renewal at the start of next month (I pay annually) and I feel like I shouldn't bother.

Tayegete · 15/04/2023 07:41

So on a more positive note, my plan for today is to go back to 3 meals a day, no bread and avoid snacking in the evening. Also to potter around the house and garden tidying up as much as my painful feet will allow.

Thank you.
lot of plates spinning at once here.

Mybestusername · 15/04/2023 08:19

I'm still here too! I'm the quiet type Smile I've been quite good this week, cut out all bad snacks and have been having healthier meals (more salad and veg).I've done some sort of exercise everyday. Also upped my skincare. Have lost 4 pounds since Tuesday Star

shutthedamndoor · 15/04/2023 08:28

Still here! Life's actually fairy stressful right now but somehow it's making me more determined not to give in, unlike all the other times when I've caved at the first opportunity.

I believe my husband might be cheating on me. I have no concrete proof yet. I'm not going to dive into it here, but I am going to focus on sorting myself out and preparing for whatever the future looks like.

Mil is in hospital and sil has learning disabilities and is unable to live alone. We both work full time and don't live in the uk. So there's a lot going on. Focusing on what I can control is helping.

So, fasting until noon, 2 litres of water, 5 minute workout every day.

Love to all of you, reading how we are all pushing ourselves along is inspiring!

Handpickled · 15/04/2023 09:34

i like this accountability. Have still had no coke - the headache is starting to pass so ready for Monday with no Diet Coke habit. Had no crisps either. The. To add in exercise.

Whatliesbeneath707 · 15/04/2023 10:21

@shutthedamndoor I'm sorry to hear of your struggles. I hope you have people close to you that you can talk to.

EducatingArti · 15/04/2023 10:57

Morning everyone. I've had a couple of pretty busy days where I've been out of th
e house most of the time, including having head and neck MRI yesterday. This is to see if they can work out what is giving me a hand tremor.

Having a slow start today but need to get on soon. First the coffee.
Today's tasks need to include food shopping, putting dry washing away and changing bed linen!

Happy Saturday everyone!

IWasGlad · 15/04/2023 12:16

A review of my last post first...

  • Spend 20 minutes cleaning before I go (to include ensuite) Nope
  • Pack light (had a weekend away recently and didn't do this - very much regretted) Yes - too light though. Left packed toiletry bag on side so had to go and buy stuff 😬
  • Listen to more 'atomic habits' on train Yes!
  • Avoid hangover and excessive calories Yes!
  • Come back motivated! Ummm...

Today I have the afternoon and early evening to myself so I think this is a good chance to get stuff done and hopefully get more motivated. I've bought the audible book 'feeling blah?' to listen to which sums up the current situation!

I think I'm going to have to keep my objectives simple and set myself the goal of having a productive afternoon with no longer than 15 minutes at a time sat at my desk - which has become the hub of procrastination and over-thinking for me. Write down what I do not what I'm going to do - apart from - I'm going to come back here this evening and join in properly!

Have a good day everyone 😀

@shutthedamndoor I'm sorry to hear of your struggles. I hope you have people close to you that you can talk to.

Thankyou! Seeing some old friends next week, that'll help.

Stressybetty · 15/04/2023 16:40

Slow start today and a bad stomach. Just pottering about the house. Plans to do a couple of tip runs tomorrow to clear garden rubbish. DH also has some planting to do. Planning to paint the lounge this week and install the new wall lights in there.

Stressybetty · 15/04/2023 18:51

Elderly MIL with mild dementia lives with us and another thing I'm working on is being less abrupt with her. All down to me being in peri menopause, stress, fatigue and having a chronic condition myself.

EducatingArti · 15/04/2023 18:58

Fairly exhausted now. Have done food shop and bed linen. Still to put clothes away!

Temporaryname158 · 15/04/2023 19:51

This thread has really inspired me. Well not enough to do some of the major painting jobs I need to do in the house and garden but small wins and all that!

I have started to exercise more and have enjoyed doing so.

I have tidied out the out house and pantry which is used to store all manner of junk!

I am on top of washing, putting away.

tomorrow I will

go to the gym
mown the lawn
file some paperwork that is lurking on a shelf
put some things in the loft

that seems more than enough!

I have been off work for 2 weeks and am dreading going back. I’m behind on work projects and a course I’m on, but can’t muster up the energy to care 😬. I’m hoping to spend some evenings next week catching up!

IWasGlad · 15/04/2023 20:12

Pleased to report that my plan of writing down what I did AFTER I did it rather than before worked so I've had a productive day. Now want wine but we don't have any so...that is also good (I guess). I'm pretty tired now though! I'll have to catch up properly tomorrow.

EducatingArti · 15/04/2023 20:50

Have done some of the clothes but think the rest will have to wait till tomorrow
