I had to scroll down to check it was in the UK. It looks like how Americans think upper class British homes look. The exterior is lovely, and the inside could be really nice if dialled back a bit.

themuminator · 24/03/2023 11:29

My eyes don't know where to look! It's all a bit sad and fake 'character'.

McMansion.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 24/03/2023 11:29

I know that house / road and spent my childhood round the corner near George Michael. Always been a super expensive road. I quite like it!

MarshaBradyo · 24/03/2023 11:32

I kind of love the madness

The sun in the outside spaces looks glorious

I’m clearly not the target market. All I can think whilst watching the video was how on earth is that going to be kept clean. The cobwebs and dust that will collect along the high walls and corners.

it’s also really dark in the video even with all lights on and the video taken during daytime.

I thought the same about dust/cobwebs....and I'm not a clean freak by any stretch of the imagination!! Next thought was how much would it cost to heat. ....then why would you put a gym in a conservatory - won't it be boiling in summer?
Thankfully I'm not thinking of moving and don't have that budget so I don't have to give any further thought to these dilemma 🤣

jlpartnerrs · 24/03/2023 11:36

I lived in Borehamwood until 2000. I thought it might be because it's near the studio's also a lot of rich people live that side of the railway tracks

BaroldBalonz · 24/03/2023 11:39

Not very much to like. In fact nothing at all, not my thing.

ScattyHattie · 24/03/2023 11:49

I'd live there, all the feel of an old hall but warmer with mod cons. It's been beautifully done and must've cost a fortune. That green hall with that huge arched wooden door makes the normal doors look like they are for borrowers 😂

I'm always disappointed when it's photo of beautiful old building outside, then find inside photos it could be a new build as all modern bling.

@Dizzywizz that’s what I was thinking, I went through the pics twice thinking I had surely missed the pool.

other than that, I hate all the furniture and wall decorations.

They could always use the neighbours pool. The VERY close neighbour.

For £15M I’d want more than an acre of grounds. What you can see if that lawn is all there is. And then another house (completely different architecture) right next door. Reminds me of a theme park.

Wheretheskyisblue · 24/03/2023 11:53

I am just surprised the agent is using an open house day to market it. Surely there can't be that many buyers who would be in the market for it.

Mondayblues23 · 24/03/2023 11:54

Staff quarters?? BlushBlush

I knew it was going to be this house before I opened the post. Name changed. I know who lives there and it’s not a footballer. It’s an ordinary family with a ridiculous amount of money. They’re not low key and are known for extreme displays of wealth. But they have nothing to do with football. The whole of that road is a building site. Lovely big attractive family homes are being knocked down to build these monstrosities and plots alone are going for £3m+

“They’re not low key” - you surprise me Grin
It’s just so busy/full on. I think I’d need to go and sit in the utility to decompress and watch those four washing machines go round…

twoandcooplease · 24/03/2023 12:04

I wonder how much it would cost to staff per month. You couldn't manage it without help
All that perfect garden. You'd only just be getting to the last bit and doing it all over again
How often do the curtains get washed and I hope they come with the house bcos the windows are so big
I don't like the children carved into the foot of the bed. Not my style
But j would like to test live in it for a month or so just to see what it's like

Dagnabit · 24/03/2023 12:05

The space is amazing but it’s too busy for my tastes so I’m going to give it a miss… And also, £15mil??

BrieAndChilli · 24/03/2023 12:15

I think it looks like a foreign persons idea of what a posh english house is like. The massive master bedroom suite on the ground floor gives this away as it is not normal in the UK for master to be on the ground floor and the kitchen area also looks very american. Actually the house looks like someone has made it in the SIMS video game!
They have just mashed together a lot of elements but are missing the air of history and that slightly worn look that big british houses have.

Way too much going on for me and the bits that are made to look 'old' just look souless as they dont have 100s of years of history absorbed into them.

its all just odd. I dont like the shiny grey minamilist look either but this is a bit too far in the other direction! There are some elements I like and obviously if someone gave me this house I'd bnite thier hand off as it is so big but it needs a lot of toning down!!

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 24/03/2023 12:22

It's bonkers but I find it strangely endearing. I think it is the addition of the teddy bears - it looks like there might be real people with children living there. But the heating bills ....

WeAreBorg · 24/03/2023 12:23

This is the exactly the sort of house I wanted when I was about four and had zero taste 😂 It looks like a low budget rip off Disney film set

GordanoBenito · 24/03/2023 12:31

I bet that's what Alan Sugar's house is like.

Whiteroomjoy · 24/03/2023 12:42

MargaretRiver · 24/03/2023 09:14

15 loos and 11 showers
Perfectly normal home

ha, I was thinking exactly the same thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
saw that kitchen ceiling and thought how the hell are you going to get all the greasy build up off of that or even repaint ceiling every 2 years
Clearly designed by someone who’s never cleaned in their life

Ohthebanality · 24/03/2023 12:42

It gives me Hill House vibes

Yep, agree, when I saw layout I thought it was very similar types layout you get in expensive USA floor plans for their homes…all those circular jutting out bits. In uk we don’t build houses with a sticky out bit in every room - too much heat lost and too expensive to heat, plus waste of expensive land costs.

Leopardprintisaneutral · 24/03/2023 12:45

£15,000,000 and no pool?

Passerillage · 24/03/2023 12:47

Am agog at the amount of money spent on the build and (some of) the fitting, just to use the cheapest, tattiest fabrics/textiles on all the upholstery/drapery??? Whyyyyy?

Looking at the empty cellar and the bananas room shapes/layouts suggests that their architect might have drunk all their wine.

It could actually be really nice...? Maybe?

ThePoshUns · 24/03/2023 12:50

That's hideous. Money definitely doesn't buy taste!

ThePoshUns · 24/03/2023 12:54

On a positive I do like the laundry room
