I am, to a Scottish musician. For a lot of years every time we went to a wedding one of the bands songs was played at the end of the night…. Our wedding guests got to hear them play it live.

I might be a 4th cousin to Liam Neeson. My 3rd great granny was a Neeson from Belfast so .........

Surely everyone knows or is related to someone famous in Northern Ireland! We constantly see our Jimmy Nesbit around town, have a drink with Jamie Dornan down the local and see famous golfers in the spar! Our fascias were built by a guy that also built the scenery for Game of thrones and lady Stark herself is from these parts

I was once married to someone whose father is a well known actor. I couldn't believe how rude and entitled the general public were, not everybody of course, but the amount of people who would interrupt a meal or assume that he'd "get a round in" or people who couldn't differentiate between a character and an actor. Not a job I'd want!

I had a colleague like that, she was astonished that the person was rude to her after she interrupted their meal. I said nothing as she was of a very low IQ and very angry/defensive to go with it, it wasn't worth pointing out it, that she was the rude one.

Family friends are famous yes. Plus very well regarded cousins. Famous in their fields. I’m pretty great myself though not famous.

Amispringy · 23/03/2023 23:06

TeaserandtheFirecat · 23/03/2023 23:07

Yes. Very famous actor/musician who was in high profile court case last year! By marriage (cousin married him). Some contact with him but mainly cousin and kids.

Is your cousin French?

This man is my husbands great uncle. He was sadly the first police officer to be killed in Wiltshire https://www.wiltshire-opc.org.uk/Items/Lydiard/Lydiard%20-%20Sergeant%20Enos%20Molden%201843-1892.pdf

Some of the general pubic have no boundaries and think it’s perfectly reasonable to interrupt a meal/run up to people in airports/approach them in shops etc for an autograph or a photograph. I don’t miss these days!

My father is a professional darts player.

WoofWoofMooWoof · 23/03/2023 23:16

BZN?

SorryButThatsAFact · 23/03/2023 23:17

Oh, I forgot one! This one isn't a celeb I'm related to, but my husband threatened to batter a current Coronation Street actor who literally knocked me on my arse striding out of a shop in the Arndale Centre. Does it still count? 😆

Neverplayleapfrogwithmrpipes · 23/03/2023 23:17

My great uncle John mitchell played for Bolton Wanderers and my other great uncle Rueben Marr played for Bristol city FC

One of my DH's cousins was in a 90's boy band. They had a couple of hits here but were massive in Europe. These days he does a normal job and is married with a child so has an absolutely avergae life. He still gets recognised walking down the street in places like Paris and Berlin though.

DH's aunt used to run the fan club and was once sent hundreds of pairs of socks by a company as a promotional thing. They were distributed amongst the male members of the family. This is the only tangible benefit DH has seen from his "famous" relative.

I have only met him a couple of times but he seems alright.

Oops, didn't add quote lol. I'll try again. BZN?

Daisywithastory · 23/03/2023 23:20

My great-grandfather was a politician-he died well before I was born but we have an unusual surname so I get asked a lot if we’re related.

justasking111 · 23/03/2023 23:22

OH cousin is an expert on the antiques road show .

Chocolatehippychick · 23/03/2023 23:22

Yes and was all over the front pages not so long ago. Unfortunately is loaded but a right arsehole with no morals. Don't have any time for them and haven't seen them in years. Too outing to say and I'm ashamed to be related to them so none of my friends know.

RenoDakota · 23/03/2023 23:26

My ex husband's father was the cousin of one of the greatest and most famous English actors of his generation (active 1930s to 1980s)

TopOfTheCliff · 23/03/2023 23:26

I’m descended from Grania O’Malley Queen of the pirates. She was badass!

Meowser72 · 23/03/2023 23:30

My cousin is a music producer and musician. He’s not A-list famous but he has produced music for A-listers. He has released several critically-acclaimed albums of his own.

Standinginthewayofcontrol1 · 23/03/2023 23:31

My niece and nephew were both in Corrie. She was also in Shameless
