And I just ran away...
I did not handle it in a mature manner or alert anyone to it. So those poor cafe staff are just going to come across a big pool of blood.
Luckily it was a plastic coated sofa/bench type seat so I imagine they will be able to clean it easily.
I didnt notice until id stood up to leave and glanced back to see if id left anything at the table.. and the cafe was full so it would've been very obvious if id walked back and started cleaning it. And I realised I must also be drenched in blood so I just ran away...
I ran away, I ran all the way home.
I feel bad. I shouldve acted like an adult and just taken the hit and walked back to the sofa to clean it.
Its my local cafe as well and I go in there alot and they will know I was the one sitting there...
I can never go in there again can I?
I'm 35 years old. I also had like a full night time sanitary towel on that id literally only just put on fresh so I do not know how that happened.... I just gushed so much blood everywhere suddenly... I kind of felt it happen but thought it was fine, didnt realise how much there was and that it had soaked thru everything!! Grim.

And also is this normal or do you think I should maybe go to the doctors about it? I have had a few other wierd period related issues the last few months... ive never gushed blood suddenly in that amount since I was a teen..

Mabelface · 21/03/2023 11:28

Yes, go to the doctor. That sort of bleeding isn't normal.

MobyJeff · 21/03/2023 11:29

I think you should go back and apologise and take flowers or something. You should probably also see your gp just for peace of mind, but I think it’s reasonably common a thing to happen.

angiec89 · 21/03/2023 11:30

Oh lord I'm so sorry this happened. I would have been mortified! Honestly you should have cleaned it up and/or told someone but I can totally understand running away.
You could always return and apologise, but otherwise maybe don't go back there again...
How much blood are we talking? If it's a worrying amount I would see a doctor

houseeveryweekend · 21/03/2023 11:31

@Mabelface yeah it has worried me.. I will make an appointment

OP posts:
MyriadOfTravels · 21/03/2023 11:32

Yes go and see your GP esp if this unusual to you!
And please make it clear it’s unusual and how much blood there was. D9nt be fobbed off by a ‘it’s normal’

LadyHaHaHeeHaw · 21/03/2023 11:32

I can understand why you ran away, that would be my immediate reaction too if I'm honest

houseeveryweekend · 21/03/2023 11:35

@angiec89 a smallish pool of blood on the sofa seat thing, maybe the circumference of a mug? but to get thru the long sanitary pad fresh on, and thru my leggings and jumper it mustve been quite a lot of blood tbh
Yeah I regretted not just walking back over and cleaning it up but I just panicked. At least it won't have ruined the sofa.

Maverickess · 21/03/2023 11:39

Yes go and see the Dr, and if it gives you peace of mind maybe go back at a quiet time and pull a member of staff to the side and explain - but I expect it's not the worst they've had to clean up and tbh if I found it then I'd assume you hadn't realised - which you wouldn't have done if you hadn't looked back, or there was something wrong and the sofa was the least of your worries.

Maybe you could tell a little white lie and say you didn't realise until you got home and didn't want them to think you left it on purpose for them to clean?

InTheFutilityRoomEatingBiscuits · 21/03/2023 11:40

Can you call them and tell them? Then they know to clean it specially and it’s less embarrassing, more anonymous than face to face. It won’t be the first or last time it’s happened if they have enough customers.

Not that it should be embarrassing but I know it can be. And yes get an appointment with the doctor. And maybe rest this afternoon if you can.

Agoraphobia · 21/03/2023 11:41

ive had this happen to me a few times i went to my gp all was good . first time was in toys r us years ago felt it coming down my legs i ran to the loo . second time was in mcdonalds i sneezed and gave birth to a large jelly fish it was all over the seat had wrap my coat around me and my friend at the time sat beside me as i got up she put her news paper on the seat to cover quick we left fast.lol

custardbear · 21/03/2023 11:43

It's probably fine just hormones. But from you left it for the staff but it ts done now and I'm sure they've seen worse.
Get a phone appointment with your GP. I had heavy bleeding after having my second child (first period after birth) and was on tranexamic acid which helped the bleeding then Mirena coil and I've never looked back ... never had a
Period since either (hooray!)

ihatewinter2 · 21/03/2023 11:43

If it makes you feel better this once happened to me whilst I was sofa shopping in DFS and sat on one of the display sofas, it was a cream one 😭 and it didn't have a plastic covering on it. I put a pillow over it and ran off.

houseeveryweekend · 21/03/2023 11:45

@ihatewinter2 omg noo!!! Hopefully it isnt somewhere u go often and they won't know it was you. Those display sofas get manky after a while anyway I think they factor that in.

houseeveryweekend · 21/03/2023 11:47

@Agoraphobia its good you had a friend there for support!

OP posts:
DameKatyDenisesClagnuts · 21/03/2023 11:49

Please think twice before sharing your own experiences- some people get off on this type of thing

houseeveryweekend · 21/03/2023 11:49

@custardbear yes I will do. I've been having random bleeding in between periods for the last few months.. not very heavy but still unusual for me.. so maybe there's something gone on with me

OP posts:
Suetcrust · 21/03/2023 11:49

It happened to me at work. 99% of my colleagues were men.
I had to smuggle as best I could, my chair (smallish one) out to my car and bring home to sponge it. My skirt was badly stained too which was wet and horrid. I waited until my department emptied out at lunch time so I could be discrete.
My GP prescribed medication to slow the flow which worked a treat. Finally I had a Mirena coil which completely stopped my periods.
Dont worry about the cafe. If you feel you must, just go in and apologise and tell them you panicked and had to get home really quickly because you were in a mess. They’ve probably forgotten all about it by now.

BarrelOfOtters · 21/03/2023 11:51

With me it was flooding, in a French hotel, it looked like I'd slaughtered a pig. start of perimenopause (went on Qlaira hormonal pill). I had to go down and tell the chambermaid in my awful French, and stay another 2 nights, I was mortified. But then figured that they'd probably seen it all before.

Lesvacances · 21/03/2023 11:51

It's embarrassing but it's real life and we shouldn't have to be embarrassed.

If it helps I was once quite poorly and only left my house because dd had a birthday event which needed me as it was 3 girls camping so not appropriate to send dh.
I had taken lots of medication and on the way home we stopped at a burger King and i needed the loo. I had the most dreadful diarrhoea, absolutely foul. The other toilet was out of action and when i came to flush mine it just wouldn't flush. I tried and tried and eventually gave up.
A young girl, about 7 was waiting with her dm and i was mortified.
I mumbled 'the toilet won't flush.'
And I legged it too.

BarrelOfOtters · 21/03/2023 11:52

@houseeveryweekend it's probably start of perimenopause rather than anything else....but don't let your GP fob you off. You should be able to leave the house without worrying about bleeding through.

thequeenoftheandals · 21/03/2023 11:52

Hey OP, I have stage iv Endo and this is such a regular occurrence I don’t even bat an eyelid.
I have walked around many times unawares that I am actually drenched from the back, but if it’s not normal for you, please seek help. It may all be just hormones but for peace of mind you should get some support.
Regarding the cafe I would definitely reach out. It’s not nice for them to clean up after you but I’m sure they’ve probably had to deal with a lot worse. Just say you panicked and were worried something had happened to you (which is true) and offer them a small tip as a token apology.

Delectable · 21/03/2023 11:53

Send flowers, choc and a note to the cafe and see your doctor.

houseeveryweekend · 21/03/2023 11:53

@BarrelOfOtters perimenopause is what is coming up when I googled it.. would I be getting that at 35? I'm going make a gp appointment anyway..
Thats embarrassing in your hotel but they've probably dealt with it loads I wouldn't worry! X

anon666 · 21/03/2023 11:57

Maybe send an anonymous card and chocolates or something. If you were drenched in blood no-one could blame you for wanting to get out of there ASAP.
