What's the worst film you've ever watched? Think I just melted my brain...

...by watching Spy Intervention on Prime. It has Drew Van Acker in it of PLL fame and I was looking for something a bit easy, he's pretty (I know, I know, very high brow of me) and dear GOD it was terrible. I may have to burn my own eyes out - was it a romance, was it a comedy? Was it just fucking terrible? yes, yes to the latter.

I can't quite believe I kept watching until the bitter end, I think I was expecting something to happen that would explain why it was so bad?

What's the worst film you've ever watched?

PS: DVA WAS pretty in it. Very. But it still wasn't enough to save it.

Another vote for The Holiday - had to sit through it with the family at the cinema so no escape. Absolutely unbearable twaddle.

1917 - what a lot of overhyped tosh. 2 blokes go from one unrealistic set piece to the next. Like watching a very boring video game.

Interstellar - wtf was that all about and why is he mumbling the whole time? I loved Inception though.

Some of my favourite films are in this thread though!

Titanic - I must admit I love it, but mainly for the realistic depiction of the ship. Definitely not for the plot. The bit where Thomas Andrews adjusts the clock on the mantelpiece while the ship sinks brings a tear to my eye every time.

Jurassic Park - way ahead of it's time and far superior to any of the sequels. How could anyone dislike it? I've also read the book.

The Deer Hunter

A Fish Called Wanda.

Absolute puerile bag of shite that film.

A dead heat between Heat and The Insider. Michael Mann makes the dullest movies, yet critics seem to love them

I think Heat is brilliant. I made it through about 15 minutes of The Insider.

Just remembered another one a date made me sit through, as it was his favourite film of all time - Amelie. Words can't describe just how tedious it was and how much I hated it.

Amelie and the long engagement are two of my favourite films .

did not enjoy the recent film the Fall on Netflix .

ToriLynn · 21/03/2023 19:14

Borat
Bad Moms
Drop Dead Fred

I've enjoyed loads of movies mentioned here.

Totally agree with Persuasion though. I saved a lot of friends from watching it after telling them how awful it was.

I saw EEAAO just the other day and loved it. Wasn't a fan of the sausage fingers stuff in it but the rest of it was fine and it actually had me crying at the end.

Because of that though I thought I would watch some previous movies that won Oscars and people were raving about. So I watched Manchester by the Sea today. It was so boring I wished they had all died in the fire. The only good part is a photo I took of a subtitle that made me laugh.

I saw Bruno with a friend of mine and his husband. God that was excruciating.

Piggypiggyoinkoink · 21/03/2023 19:41

The American - made no sense and went on and on and on

And a film I have blanked the name of from my memory. It wanted to be Dances With Wolves and the story involved a priest. Only film I’ve ever walked out of.

Nephilim77 · 21/03/2023 19:53

Tusk. Complete “WTF did I just watch” kind of movie. Not sure if it’s been mentioned already in this thread, but I have no words to describe it. Who on earth would think up something so completely and utterly bonkers is beyond me…

Lincoln - I fell asleep in the cinema trying to watch this.
The Revenant - 3 hours of tedium
LaLaLand - I had such high hopes for this one but gave up after 15 minutes.
Manchester by the Sea - unbelievably boring.

Now I loved Lincoln but I do know a lot about the period, I think anyone who doesn't know the background would be totally lost.

Can I add The Greatest Showman and Hamilton, probably because I'm not a great fan of musicals.

All the Star Wars films, in fact any sci-fi, when Chariots of Fire came out I wouldn't go at first because I thought it was a sci-fi film, I'd recently read Chariots of the Gods! Don't know why I like to read sci-fi but not watch films.

That film was all kinds of messed up!

Gobshite.

Midsommar (might be in the minority with that one)

I saw this in the cinema...one of those 'mystery viewings' where you buy a cheap ticket and nobody knows what the film is until it starts!

Me and my friends were open mouthed all the way through it...having many 'WTF' moments 🤣 It's since become almost a cult film though, and I 'almost' like it now (almost...it's still weird as all fuck!!! 😨🤣🤦‍♀️)

SadGirl6 · 21/03/2023 20:48

The Wolf of Wall Street - so long and boring I couldn’t wait for it to end in the cinema

ClassicLib · 21/03/2023 21:01

Star Wars : Phantom Menace. And it’s not even close. This is the first and only film I have ever walked out of before the end having paid good money to watch. Not just a kids’ film, an utterly shit kids film.

Omg it's AMAZING!! One of the best films ever

MeinKraft · 21/03/2023 21:10

Leap Year. Matthew Goodes terrible Irish accent. Actually, everything about it is terrible. Everything. And yet, when I see it on ITV3 of a Saturday afternoon I'm guaranteed to watch it again.

Embelline · 21/03/2023 21:12

@SollozzoMightNotEvenBeInTheCarSonny yes got completely mixed up there!

The happening..the acting is intresting! Mark Walhberg looks confused throughout and I don't know what was up with his voice. Just odd.. and the plot who knows about that

Squidthing · 21/03/2023 21:15

AI - make me a real boy... absolute shite

MrsWithwithers · 21/03/2023 21:47

Eat Pray Love - so bad!
and The Perfect Storm. Most depressing movie ever.

Kittylickingplate · 21/03/2023 21:48

Bad Boy Bubby, critically acclaimed but it messed me up.

WhyDoesItAlways · 21/03/2023 22:26

Burn after reading. Not even George and Brad could redeem it.

Also to add to all the Oscar nominated films... The artist? Or the painter? Can't remember the name but it was a silent movie. There's just no place for it in the 21st century.

HRTQueen · 21/03/2023 23:15

Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them

213 minutes it lasted after 5 minutes I checked how long the film was and counted down the tedious minutes
