Luxurious treat of utterly inedible?

I'm just opening a box of chocolates I had for Christmas. I love chocolates, but looking at the flavours these sound a bit 'out there' (ie, gross!) Or am I just being a fussy-pants?

Walnut marzipan
Saffron fudge
Pistachio truffle
Rose fondant
Violet fondant
Cassis jelly
Earl Grey truffle

What do you think? Would you fall on these with delight or wave them away?

If they are from Prestat they will probably be delicious.

My Dd bought some really whacky ones from a posh shop in Amsterdam.

Apart from rose and violet fondant, I think they sound amazing. So nice to see different flavours.

I was gifted some similarly posh chocs a few years ago with very weird flavours. I was suspicious, but in the interests of research gave them a try and they were bloody delicious, even the flowery flavours that sounded grim. Go for it (or give them to me!)

Ah, so most people are in favour then?! Lindt are my 'go-to' for posh chocolates. I just can't imagine choosing to put flowers in my mouth! And saffron flavoured fudge?! It seems like kind of an insult to the cocoa bean to pretend these things go together!

And don't worry, it's not been extreme self control that's kept me from them since Christmas - I went and got Covid during the festive season and our guests didn't come so I've had A LOT of sweet crap to work my way through! 😁

No. I don't want to damage the high esteem I currently hold for chocolate! I don't know what to do! Will probably give them to my sister. Or maybe I should auction them off! What am I bid for the tea flavoured monstrosity?

The Earl Grey would be delicious- used to go to Harrods in the mid 90s just for Gerard Ronay doing these sorts of flavours!
This article from the independent in 97 sang his praises.
"Ronay became Britain's leading chocolatier, as they call them in France, after apprenticeship to two top French chocolate houses. It gave him the confidence to develop the most unusual flavours to be combined in chocolate fillings since the Spanish court (in the 17th century) added cinnamon, cloves and vanilla to modify the bitter Aztec drink originally taken unsweetened with chilli. As well as traditional flavourings for the ganache fillings (a ganache is the chocolate cream centre) such as raspberry, praline, ginger, orange and walnut, Ronay has added jasmine tea, geranium, calvados, garden mint and smoked lemon."
Also Prestat is quite "naice" (not to be confused with Prestatyn )
