Luxurious treat of utterly inedible?

I'm just opening a box of chocolates I had for Christmas. I love chocolates, but looking at the flavours these sound a bit 'out there' (ie, gross!) Or am I just being a fussy-pants?

Walnut marzipan
Saffron fudge
Pistachio truffle
Rose fondant
Violet fondant
Cassis jelly
Earl Grey truffle

What do you think? Would you fall on these with delight or wave them away?

Let us know how it goes OP. Dh got a posh pack of chic's from Fortnum's and I swear they were Earl Grey truffle. I love Earl grey tea and I love chocolate but these were so disgusting I couldn't eat them! I was appalled at myself! My favorite choc is Aldi fruit and nut. It's extremely addictive.

Whereas I really hate tea (to drink) but I love earl grey truffles!

🤮🤮🤮🤮

Are they milk or dark chocolate ? Think I would prefer the rose and violet ones in a dark chocolate .

None of those flavours appeal to me but I don’t like my chocolate fucked about with much so I don’t really go in for chocolates with centres. And I don’t eat nuts so I’d rule a few out anyway based on that.
Are Prestat seen as luxe sort of chocolate? I always see them in TK Maxx!

I don't understand

I know, right? It’s like all the individual words are fine, but put together in that order it just makes no sense 🧐

Anyway, I don’t think you’d like them op. I’ll just join the crowd of willing volunteers to take them away for you… as an act of public service of course.

Galadriel90 · 08/03/2023 16:39

Prestat are delicious chocolates. Send them here if you don't want them!

Mirabai · 08/03/2023 16:49

They’re classics OP, hardly out there.

Arniesleftleg · 08/03/2023 16:52

Send them to me, they sound amazing and right up my street, but then I drink rose earl grey tea!

WonderingWanda · 08/03/2023 17:07

I think they sound lovely, not sure I'd ruin marzipan with a walnut though. The rose flavour will taste like Turkish delight, violet like parma violets both which I love.

FancyFanny · 08/03/2023 17:07

Presat are a lovely expensive brand and the flavours sound sophisticated and delicious- clearly you have uncultured tastes and should stick to a box of Roses, leaving the good stuff for those more discerning!

LookingOldTheseDays · 08/03/2023 15:58

Daft names? They're named after the flavours! What else would they be named?

Might be just me, but violet or Rose fondant sound horrible imo. Ditto saffron and earl gray. I know that rose and violet can be used for flavouring but they sound more like paint colours than chocolates to my ear.

I don't like jelly or blackcurrant so the Cassis Jelly would be a 'no' and while I like Earl Grey and I like truffle, I wouldn't put them together. The others sound quite nice, especially the walnut marzipan.

Thisisformathilda · 08/03/2023 17:32

They sound vile.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/03/2023 17:35

They all sound delicious. Must keep a look out for those next time I want a treat.

ChilliBandit · 08/03/2023 17:42

@TheChosenTwo - where is your local TK Maxx?! (Asking for a friend…)

TheChosenTwo · 08/03/2023 17:48

@ChilliBandit guildford! They’ve always got prestat in there! I always recognise the gaudy packaging 😂

JunkinDonuts · 08/03/2023 17:48

Can I be your chief taster op?
I'll let you know their deliciousness on a scale of 1-10 😛

Btjdkfnn · 08/03/2023 17:49

I’d scoff them regardless

LucyLeave · 08/03/2023 17:49

They sound horrible. Give me a box of Milk Tray any time over poncy chocolates.

Nellieinthebarn · 08/03/2023 17:54

I'd eat them, or at least give them a try. I've not met many expensive choccies I didnt like.

VivaLesTartes · 08/03/2023 17:55

The cassis jelly can get in the sea. Everything else sounds well worth a try.

ChilliBandit · 08/03/2023 17:55

@TheChosenTwo - oo I, I mean my friend, is close enough to have a nosey. Grin

Violet and rose fondants have existed since the 18th century and even earlier.

I like Milk Tray (when I'm buying) but I wouldn't turn my nose up at those.

Doubt it’s just you in the whole world who doesn’t like the sound of them, some people will and some won’t. Rose and violet creams aren’t a new and unusual thing though, they’re fairly common chocolate flavours. I love rose creams.
