For what period?

the bill I get early March is for 6 months.

ProseccoOnIce · 08/03/2023 09:29

£53 (not including govt contribution of £67)

I refuse to set up a DD & pay monthly by card after phoning in meter readings

On a contract from Dec 22 - just as the energy crisis started, took Feb 2024

£116 gas and £124 electric.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 08/03/2023 09:35

Same monthly direct debit as usual, £120

Phillipa12 · 08/03/2023 09:35

I've just paid £245 for gas and electric for February. My bills for December and January were similar. We are a family of 4 in a mid terrace, four bed, 1820s cottage, we also have a log burner.

That may or may not match your usage though
I pay £220 direct debit but my February usage was about £300. The government £67 topped up the £220 and then my credit balance paid the rest.

PuttingDownRoots · 08/03/2023 09:37

October 15- Feb 14.... £300. So £75 a month
Electricity averages at £100 a month (before government bit)

3 bed semi detached.

Oldskoolfackall · 08/03/2023 09:37

We paid;

£55 for gas
£0 for electricity (the £66 government thingy!)

2 bed house and prepayment meters. Snug as a bug in a rug x

DoorstoManual · 08/03/2023 09:37

No idea, we heat the house all day to 20 degrees, it costs what it costs. I feel the cold badly so we just suck it up and move on.

@user1471505356

are you running a Hotel?

DoorstoManual · 08/03/2023 09:39

In the spirit of the thread, just checked £400

Oldskoolfackall · 08/03/2023 09:39

We're on prepayment meters because the previous owner had them installed for her tenants!

Haven't bothered getting them switched as I quite like them 😆 (yes, I know it's a little more pricey!)

Thats the point of a monthly direct debit, it evens out over the year. Higher usage in winter, much lower usage in summer. I prefer to pay the same each month for budgeting

pbdr · 08/03/2023 09:40

About £600 for both gas (LPG) and electricity. 5 bedroom house, radiators turned off in the bedrooms/rooms that aren't used during the day, but in the living areas heating turned on to 18degrees from 6am to 8pm (baby in the house). In Scotland which makes it more expensive.

Mamabear04 · 08/03/2023 09:42

Sorry £468 for 5 months but in comparison last March was £216 for 5 months!

OP posts:
DanceMonster · 08/03/2023 09:43

£367. But that was for one month, not five.

Mamabear04 · 08/03/2023 09:44

@pbdr we're in Scotland too. 3 bedroom house with baby and toddler. DH WFH as well so we are always in so switching the heating off is not an option for us!

Mamabear04 · 08/03/2023 09:44

@DanceMonster OUCH!

We haven't had our march bill yet but febs bill was £380. We pay £300 DD so are using some of our credit now.

It's horrendous! Large draughty Victorian house. Tumble dryer is essential as we have a disabled DC.

Dreading the government help ending in march, I assume our DD will go up?

DoorstoManual · 08/03/2023 09:46

Again in the spirit of the thread, £400 was for a month.

Spacie · 08/03/2023 09:54

Dual fuel, 4 bed house, 3 adults -
£407 for February (due to be paid on 21st March less the £67) down from £466 in January (mainly because Feb is 3 days shorter).

December was £522 but was very cold and I had the heating up higher because a family member was immobile due to a leg injury.
I make that £1395 for the winter quarter (actual payment £201 less due to the EBSS).

I set my account to variable DD last autumn to get rid of the ridiculous credit balance and I'm happy with that as I've realised that the biggest bills come when theres no council tax (Feb & March) and no water bill (Dec to March) so it's not as painful as you'd think. It helps to be with a supplier that bills monthly.
