Thats the point of a monthly direct debit, it evens out over the year. Higher usage in winter, much lower usage in summer. I prefer to pay the same each month for budgeting

That's why I don't have a DD.

I'm one of those weird people who don't feel the cold.

But I suffer in the heat, so my bills are higher in the summer.

user1471505356 · 08/03/2023 10:02

It is similar to last March though I have used 40% less gas, electricity £4 per month at the moment, I think that might be too low on Direct Debit.

OnMyWayToSenility · 08/03/2023 10:03

Gas £160
Elec £60

3 bed house 3 people

But is £120 enough to cover winter and summer bills? It wouldn't be enough for mine, maybe it is for yours

Puravida23 · 08/03/2023 10:05

£276 in January for Gas alone and we weren’t even in the country for 2.5 weeks of it so that was just keeping 2 cats warm!
No idea what Feb will be but slightly scared

Mamabear04 · 08/03/2023 09:42

Sorry £468 for 5 months but in comparison last March was £216 for 5 months!

My nearly £300 was for just February.
4 bed detached in Scotland, 2 adults, 2 teens

KnittedCardi · 08/03/2023 10:08

£487 for gas and electric. As expected. I did have a lot of credit built up before winter though, so haven't yet had to top up any excess. Monthly dd is £292.

We don't ration anything though. Have a nice warm house, and still wash and tumble and all the usual shit. It costs what it costs.

Kim82 · 08/03/2023 10:12

£98.88 for electricity
£80.76 for gas

We pay £170 per month DD plus the £67 on top of that from the Government.

We’re a family of 5 in a 4 bed property. I was surprised it was so low tbh as we don’t skimp on using the dryer or the heating but it’s accurate as I give monthly readings.

sashh · 08/03/2023 10:12

My bill is produced mid month so my last bill was 14/2/23 - 14/3/23 £96 for electric and £53 for gas.

2 bed bungalow, just me and the cat. I use heated throws which keeps me warm. The cat sleeps on the set top box.

Ours was £442 for last month. 1 month!
I would be very happy if that was 5 months.

AllWorkYoPlait · 08/03/2023 10:21

Well, Jan alone was £390 electric for our 3 bed semi. I can only dream of some of these bills 😩

We aren't living our toastiest life. We just have an expensive heating system.

Arwen7 · 08/03/2023 10:21

£315, 2 bed with a baby but we are never cold

florenceandthemac · 08/03/2023 10:24

Scottish Power Standard Variable
For the period 16th Jan - 4th March, so 79 days:
Gas £246
Elec £195
Plus VAT is total bill of £463

We don't have a March bill yet as it's only the 8th of the month?

5 months?! Absolute bargain!! I am paying that now for a month and half.
I've never ever paid that low, before all the increases. Live in a 3 storey 4 bed semi

Pretty much the same as us. We do have DC and WFH though. I love our little 2 bed (we have an office in the garden!)

NewBootsAndRanty · 08/03/2023 10:34

£90 gas, £23 electric for feb 1-28th.

Wishawisha · 08/03/2023 10:38

£468 for 5 months is really not that bad. Less than most people.

We pay more than that but our usage is still on the low side and not close to some of the amounts I see other people paying.

Auntieobem · 08/03/2023 10:38

£195 in Feb for gas and electric, 4 bed detached, wfh, heating at 20 during day and lots of tumble drying....I've got a bad feeling they aren't converting our usage correctly or something...

Rebel2 · 08/03/2023 10:42

£120 ish

How much did you pay for your March energy bill?
Marmite27 · 08/03/2023 10:43

25th January to 24th February was:
£172.95 electric
£47.06 gas

£220.01 total, DD IS £221.26, so just in under and the £67 government credit is banked.

ChocolateBauble · 08/03/2023 10:44

£760 for 3 months.

BelindaMelinda · 08/03/2023 10:48

£399 for gas and electric combined in Feb. £215 gas, £184 electric. Large 4 bed detached, 5 people, one bed wetter so we have a large amount of additional laundry to wash and dry daily.

I said fuck it to trying to skimp at the beginning of January though, I was sick of feeling cold in Nov and Dec whilst trying to fight big bills (appreciate we're lucky to be able to). So it seems high, but that's with heating on lots every day without being careful, tumble dryer on sometimes a couple of times a day etc.

Ifailed · 08/03/2023 10:52

£37 for February. It'll go up to £97 in April. I'm £378 in credit and live in a victorian 2-bed terrace.

Wishawisha · 08/03/2023 10:52

Oh actually is that net of government money - the £66/7 a month? Maybe that’s why it’s less than £100 a month..? So otherwise it would have been about £800?

Our supplier credits our bank with the £67 the day after the direct debit is taken so whilst I’m paying something like £220 a month currently it’s only costing me about £154. We don’t use the £220 a month though so a lot is going to credit and I’ll rescue the direct debit right back down again once the scheme ends.

JadeSeahorse · 08/03/2023 10:54

£286 for gas and electric.

4 bedroomed detached - 2 retired adults - c.heating on 24/7 @12 degrees sometimes higher but flame effect gas fire on low setting 10 hours per day. Tumble dryer usage around 2-3 hours per week, most cooking now done on air fryer, Ninja foodie and/or microwave.

Comes to something though when you admit to being pleased at £286.🙄 (Especially when usage was way lower than the same time previous year but bill total still £78 higher.😡)
