Continuation of previous threads (thread 5).

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

Binturong's made me tear up, what a lovely story.

angelico53 · 16/04/2023 18:58

Wonderful threads - thank you both.

NotDrowningJustCrowing · 16/04/2023 19:03

Lovely stories. Listening to Ali playing violin at the end of the thread I thought, "That's lovely music, unusual, must be some sort of Afghan folk music." Then it began to sound familiar and then I started singing "I can hear the sound of violins ..." and realised, not for the first time, that I'm a halfwit. I hope he can get to music college.

The collection and the beautiful store and show thing the mother built for her son was a joy.

Thanks, @BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn and @Dotellhimpike . It's always a pleasure to read uplifting stories.

Britinme · 16/04/2023 19:09

Another lovely story - thanks @BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn .

artant · 16/04/2023 19:40

Those are both great stories.

Kucinghitam · 17/04/2023 05:58

So many good people in the world; I enjoyed reading @Dotellhimpike and @BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn 's wonderful stories yesterday too.

I've had a great weekend in London visiting my son and his partner and dog. featuring The Best Pizza In London, apparently. Surprisingly in Tourist Central. just off Trafalgar Square. Well, it's certainly the best pizza I've ever had. And an always enjoyable stroll around Greenwich, the Park etc, yesterday when it brightened up a bit. And a second visit (and the first was a looong time ago) to the Ciné Lumière in fashionable Kensington.

Tricyrtis2022 · 17/04/2023 11:55

Sounds good, @duc748. Just curious, what did you have on your pizza and what made it the best one you've ever had?

mach2 · 17/04/2023 12:25

My line manager is a hero. He went into a river to rescue a dog that was stuck and drowning. He thought it was only knee-deep where the dog was stuck but it was actually neck-deep! Anyway, he and his drier friend on the bank managed to rescue the dog between them.

Gonners · 17/04/2023 12:28

Was that pizza at 50 Kalò, @duc748 ?

Fantastic. Here in the cold uk?

mach2 · 17/04/2023 13:09

Here in the cold UK. Thankfully, he is young and strong.

Tricyrtis2022 · 17/04/2023 13:12

Well done to your line manager, mach. He's a good man.

I'm not big on toppings, just buffalo mozz and tomatoes and basil. But just perfect; tomato sauce, crust. Impressive diameter too, and didn't have the issue a lot of more upmarket pizzas have of being mean with the cheese.

Sounds lovely, I'd like to have tasted it.

Me and Mr T have been experimenting with pizza making since we met in the mid-80s and what you had is similar to what we've ended up making, though he likes a few slices of pepperoni on his. I've come to the conclusion with pizza that less is more and too many toppings ruins the flavours, because they're all mixed up so you no longer taste them properly.

Dog-rescuing colleague was brave and lucky - cold water shock is dangerous.

My animal rescues today have been of wasps. I've done 8 catch-in-glass-and-drop-out-the-window manoevres today and there's another one flying around. I have no idea whether they were all different animals. I think they were hibernating in the curtains and behind books and it's suddenly warm enough to wake them up.

Almost time for a new thread? I can't get used to having to keep an eye on the number of posts.

Well done to your line manager, mach. He's a good man.

He is. He could very well have drowned, then there's Weil's Disease to worry about...

NotDrowningJustCrowing · 17/04/2023 22:45

Your line manager is a hero and also very silly, @mach2 . He could have drowned himself, but I'm glad he's silly and I bet that lovely dog is too.

Today I have emptied the cat litter tray and it is clean and empty. Fingers crossed that they now understand that as they are both capable of getting off the terrace and into the multiple gardens below that's where all the toilet business should be done.

Kucinghitam · 18/04/2023 06:24

Sunday evening - discovered that Phoebe's face was swollen on one side, made her left eye a bit squinty, some sort of firm mass on her cheek, refused to let me investigate further. Seemed quite listless. Booked vet appointment for Tuesday morning, earliest available.
Monday all day - still quite listless, hiding under dressing table, but came out for food.
Monday night - hopped up onto bed as normal, happy squeaky purring, walking all over us as per usual bedtime routine. DH "is it just me, or has the swelling gone down?" 😒

Of course, it was too late to cancel the vet appointment, so we shall be going anyway, as I have ongoing concerns about her teeth.

I just hope it pays the river more respect now!

Britinme · 18/04/2023 11:05

@Kucinghitam - sounds as if it might have been an abscess on a tooth. I hope the vet can sort her out.
