I'd like to be able to walk to a seaside beach.

bussteward · 04/03/2023 12:55

I can walk to the beach (a slight trek) and the South Downs and Waitrose – so the holy trinity of needs! – plus the library and children’s nursery and school, a park, the train station, etc, but I’d like a really nice dog-free coffee shop and cafe on my doorstep within minutes, and for the local swimming pool which is within five minutes’ walk, to reopen.

waterlego · 04/03/2023 13:01

Reading this, I’m reminded how lucky I am. I have a beautiful beach 300 metres from my front door. I walk on the beach every day with the dog. In the summer, I go down there after dinner most evenings to just sit and relax until the sun goes down.

Also have some decent shops, pubs and restaurants in walking distance. I can’t really think of anything I wish I had nearby. I’ve got everything I need.

Buttalapasta · 04/03/2023 13:02

Open air swimming either in a pool or narural, all year round. We do have an open air pool but it's only open during the summer holidays.

waterlego · 04/03/2023 13:02

@bussteward, I thought you might be in the same town as me for a moment there but I don’t think my local pool is closed. I am very near the South Downs though.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 04/03/2023 13:04

Swim

Another one who would love a nearby seaside beach. Love the sea and all things seaside.
I am lucky that the bottom of our tiny road opens out onto countryside and woods though. National Trust place within walking distance.

bussteward · 04/03/2023 13:46

@waterlego Ooh! I’m in Eastbourne, which tbh has everything I need and want if Motcombe Pool would just reopen!

DMCWelshcakes · 04/03/2023 13:53

I'd like a beach and a lovely teashop.

The sea. I have to drive for two hours to get there and I make a video on my phone so I can watch it when I'm back home saddo I know. A cafe would be nice too.

waterlego · 04/03/2023 14:14

Ah @bussteward, I’m over Worthing way! Am on the beach as we speak. Looking East and giving you a wave! 👋🏼

openingbat · 04/03/2023 14:15

A Sandy beach

eatsleeppaddle · 04/03/2023 14:18

A beach and a mountain

thebear1 · 04/03/2023 14:34

A decent school, DS walks to school but I'm not especially happy with the school. A cattery would be good so the cat doesn't get distressed on his annual trip there in the car when we go on holiday.

SapatSea · 04/03/2023 14:53

swim

lljkk · 04/03/2023 15:10

work, kayaking, orthodontist.
Honestly we chose to not live in city, though. So situation is what it is.

fairtrauchled · 04/03/2023 15:40

Visit our grandchildren.
We're fortunate to have lots of other things within walking distance like a big supermarket, shopping centre,a beach with a long promenade, river walks,,woodland walks, sporting facilities and good transport links

We have great countryside and walks on our doorstep, but I would love to be able to walk to a shop. Currently, the nearest one of any size is a 15 minute drive away. Cant have everything I guess!

Nannyfannybanny · 05/03/2023 15:51

Bussteward,I reckon I know where you are....if the pool is Motcombe.

Nannyfannybanny · 05/03/2023 15:55

Ah bussteward, just seen your reply, I'm just outside. I did a 100 miles round trip commute to work to move here, for the dogs and countryside. Can see the downs from my lounge garden... just 2 roads away.
