My mum. She's pretty old and frail now, but it's 45 minute drive and she point blank refuses to move in with or near to us. I'd love to be able to pop in more often than the current once a week.

I feel incredibly lucky that I live in a seaside town. Can be at beach on foot in 20-25 mins, bike 10 or drive 5. I go sea swimming every morning at 06:20 before work if conditions allow

Good, free art gallery and museum with cafe and gift shop not trendy, not specialised. Imagine the joy!

Oh I've got that in walking distance! Actually I'm really very lucky as I have most of the things mentioned here - my mum, a river, woodland, open countryside, shops, supermarkets, nice restaurants, pubs, museums, theatres...I'd just like to move the whole place 100 miles or so to the coast! 😆

Walk on the beach. A nice little shopping area with cafes, bakery etc. A park not full of dog shit and teenagers trashing it. We do though have a supermarket within 5 minute walking distance and a 2 minute walk to the train station with regular trains into the city centre so they are good!

Beach

BertHandsome · 04/03/2023 08:20

Walk to a big park with a pond and ducks. There’s little play parks here but nothing like I had growing up and it feels sad I can’t take toddler to anywhere to feed the ducks through the week.

Be near the beach would be nice. I used to live a 5 minute metro from the beach, now we’re in the middle of the country the furthest point away from any beach. I wouldn’t even mind being just out of walking distance just not hours and hours in the car.

SameOldJunk · 04/03/2023 08:20

Swim.

I used to live near a lido which was a ten min walk through the park. It was lovely on a summer evening to walk over, swim then walk home.

A lovely pub with good food and atmosphere
a good cafe
a xouple of nice shops , deli types and independents

ww have a lovely house but it’s in a village that’s attached to a city. The loca pub is awful. There’s nothing here. You have to get in the car to go anywhere. Or a very long walk into the city (and it’s a city I no longer like). I want to move 20/25 miles to a town I love which has all the above but the property prices are very expensive which I can afford as my house is in an expensive and desirable road but we would get so much less for our money. I think it would be worth it but then I look at the size of the house and garden and what we’ve done with it and think I’d be mad to make the move. I’ve always wanted to live in this specific town(for like 30 years) and never thought I’d be able to band joe I can I don’t know whether I should

I am 500m from the beach, it's a 8 minute walk to work and I can walk to both M&S food and a little Waitrose in about 6 minutes. There are also lots of restaurants within a 10 minute walk. My sons can also walk or get a direct bus to school.

So why do I want to move Confused

dustydog22 · 04/03/2023 08:23

A beach.
A forest.
A lido.
A good yoga class.
A lovely little tea room.

As it stands I have two pubs, an off licence and a chippy.

Nannyfannybanny · 04/03/2023 08:24

The beach.it is only 10 minutes away by car,we couldn't afford to live nearer.

CeeJay81 · 04/03/2023 08:24

Cinema/entertainment and a cheaper supermarket and other shops. We live in one of the most rural areas of the wales. In a lovely little community that does have a lot of the essential services most people need though. Online shopping is def needed here.

Octomingo · 04/03/2023 08:24

Work. Although it depends on how far walking distance is. Half hour walk to work would do.

Nice shops. Everyone moans round here about the high Street dying, but as I have no need of a barber, bookie or Thai massage, I don't really need to go there.

MissMarplesbag · 04/03/2023 08:27

Library, cafe, restaurant, shops and gym so I can have an evening social life without driving or replying on public transport.

Ok, now I want to live there too!

LubaLuca · 04/03/2023 08:29

Go swimming. I used to be able to do this and I miss it.

Clawdy · 04/03/2023 08:31

Got nice cafes and restaurants, and best of all, a little independently run cinema five minutes walk from house. But would love to be near a lake.

Marcipex · 04/03/2023 08:32

A Waitrose, a Waterstones, a sandy beach.

WeeMadArthur1 · 04/03/2023 08:34

Beach definitely. I'm very lucky that I can walk to work, supermarkets, city centre with pubs, restaurants, cinemas, etc. But Google Maps tells me it's a 21 hour walk to the nearest beach. And it's not even a very nice one.

mummywithtwokidsplusdog · 04/03/2023 08:34

I would love to be able to walk to a quiet beach!

Xtraincome · 04/03/2023 08:34

Coffee and book shops
Restaurants
A beautiful park
Art gallery

I HATE where we live and can't wait to move. Biggest regret of leaving London was thinking the rural life would be better for my kids upbringing. There. Is. Nothing. To. Do.

We live in Northamptonshire if anyone is wondering.

Allshallbewell2021 · 04/03/2023 08:35

The Sea
The Sea
The Sea

PrincessHoneysuckle · 04/03/2023 08:35

Go to a nice restaurant

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 04/03/2023 08:35

Serious answer - various family members who live too far away to see often.

Frivolous answer - a really good sushi restaurant.

liveforsummer · 04/03/2023 08:36

We have most of the things that people wish for here. I can walk to the beach, to a nice little harbour, to woods, various parks and paths and a river, to the bus stops, to an abundance of bars, restaurants, gyms, activities, supermarkets - the only thing my dc want to do however is ride so of course we spend our lives sitting in traffic to get to the stables and rarely use anything on our doorstep 🙄. I'd love to just be able to pop there in 5 mins
