Eurovision - will you be trying to get tickets?

I know I'm going to! Bit pricey to be fair, but a bucket list thing for me.

Me and DD got Thursday rehearsal tickets. Were trying for those and Friday rehearsal, where I got to the front of the queue and was straight away booted off 😡but it was 12:30 at that point so chances are all the tickets were gone for that anyway.

I remember when it was announced, my sister (who doesn't really know anything about Eurovision) saying "oh maybe now its in the UK we could go to the final" and I just laughed!

We're excited to go and at least see a small part of it.

Well done for getting something! We were trying for the Friday jury show.....got in at 12.26 and everything had sold out apart from the £490 hospitality tickets! So I'll be watching it from home.

As excuses go, that's a good one!!

So my DH got us tickets for family show semi 1. At 39 weeks pregnant. Please tell me I'm not insane to go.

Soapyspuds · 07/03/2023 22:55

No. The best bit about it was Terry Wogan

RedToothBrush · 24/04/2023 13:11

This is your last call for Eurovision:

The last minute resale started today at noon. We have managed to get (much much cheaper) tickets for the matinee semi preview on the Thursday so I'm going slightly crazy right now. I may explode.

Looking now at 1.10pm I believe there are a few tickets STILL available (look for sky seats) but you have to buy in pairs. The ones still available aren't cheap, but they are cheaper than the seats we were looking at on the initial sale.

Comefromaway · 24/04/2023 13:17

I have just secured (extortionate) semi final 1 preview seats for dd and I. She is over the moon.

wurtle · 24/04/2023 13:42

I tried to get £30 tickets for 1st semifinal review. None left but loads of £60 ones.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 24/04/2023 13:51

We tried again (didn't know there was going to be a second chance after last month) - and could actually have had some - but we admitted defeat. The only show we could have made would have been the Friday night judge's final. We needed three tickets and a chance to buy three hospitality tickets popped up ("You have 1 minute to buy them!"); but much as we'd have loved to have gone, nearly £1,500 is just too much - especially as our DS (and us, probably) wouldn't have wanted all the fancy stuff you have to pay lots extra for.

What I couldn't quite understand was the oddments that came up on the resale list: it said that fans could only sell unwanted tickets (?!) for face value, but I saw some for £565 each, when the highest-priced hosp ones were £490, so not too sure what that was about.

Me & dd have just had an incredible evening.

the stars of the show are the stage hands.

Aww I'm glad you enjoyed it. We're going tomorrow to the family show. Do you reckon you've seen the winner? I've not watched any song but our entry because I didn't want to spoil the live thing.

Can I ask are they super strict on not having large bags or taking food in? I'm super pregnant and stressed about fitting my maternity notes into an A4 bag. And going a prolonged period without food!

Comefromaway · 09/05/2023 00:24

Yes, they are very strict, the person behind is in the queue told us he saw someone turned away with a larger bag

there are plenty of food and drink outlets inside and the queues were ok.

Comefromaway · 09/05/2023 00:26

It is airport style security. You have to put your bags and phones on a tray thing and walk one by one through a scanner.

2kidsintow · 09/05/2023 01:04

I'm going! I checked on the off chance and there are still tickets left. Lots of hideously expensive ones but a few more reasonable (ish) proced ones.
Dd and I are going to the wed eve preview.
Thanks for the bags info.

Comefromaway · 09/05/2023 10:23

One point.

If you have floor tickets don't leave it until the last minute to go inside the arena. Everyone has their phone tickets checked on entry into the building but floor ticket people also have them checked on entry to the floor area when they are given a wristband. It is then much quicker and easier for the stewards to check the wristbands when people come in and out for toilets/food/drink.

Last night a lot of people arrived at the floor entrance just before the start who had not yet been given wristbands. The steward made them stand aside whilst he waved wristbanded people through then it took some time to check the phone tickets of all these people and let them down onto the floor. It also blocked our view a bit as ew were sat just behind where this was happening.

I have to say the arena staff were great. (I used to work for a similar company in another city).

Wrongsideofpennines · 09/05/2023 10:41

Thanks for this. I basically have nothing in my bag apart from my notes, phone and purse so if they turn me away cos my bag is too big I'll cry.

Comefromaway · 09/05/2023 10:57

Is your bag bigger than an A4 sized piece of paper?

Could you carry your notes in a folder through security and then buy one of the souvenir tote bags from the merch stands once inside.

However it does say that there are exemptions for medical purposes. This includes baby change bags. Could you contact the arena to check if your maternity notes would be covered under this?

Lovinmyblanket · 09/05/2023 11:14

Does the a4 bag rule specify how deep the bag can be? I can find a bag to fit but don't want to then be told the depth had to be a certain limit! (This is for the eurovillage which has the same restriction, I don't have concerns tickets)

Comefromaway · 09/05/2023 11:22

I've not seen a depth limit. I went to Primark and bought myself a cheap little handbag. We drove so we could dump our other stuff in the car.

Comefromaway · 09/05/2023 11:22

Dd is heading to the Eurovillage today.

Lovinmyblanket · 09/05/2023 12:29

I don't need a lot, but will be out all day so would like phone, power bank, bit of make up, keys, foldable rain coat just in case! Map maybe.

RedToothBrush · 09/05/2023 12:31

Eurovillage stage times for today:
https://www.visitliverpool.com/event/eurovision-village-night-at-the-opera/54637101/

Queues for the eurovillage are also lengthy. There are only a couple of entrances. We tried to get in yesterday and it was too busy to get in before we needed to head and do other things.

So definitely go as early as you can.

We did watch the coronation there on Saturday though.

There is a merch shop in the city. We went past at lunchtime yesterday and there was crowd management to even get in the shop. Meanwhile the stand on the approach from Liverpool One as you cross the road into the Albert Dock was much quieter. There are merch stands in the fan zone and by the stadium too if you want and don't have tickets (don't queue for ages at the shop!)

I am considering going down tomorrow evening to the fan zone if circumstances allow... I really want to catch something there if I can.

We have tickets for Thursday Afternoon show. Then home in time for the broadcast that evening.

Then having friends at home Sat (with the new bigger TV that DH insisted we absolutely had to have for Eurovision...

This is all really useful stuff

NatMoz · 09/05/2023 12:38

We went yesterday. It was just amazing!

Never known a crowd to go absolutely ape over a song (Cha Cha Cha- Finland)

Comefromaway · 09/05/2023 12:43

We went into the merch shop yesterday. They have a wider range than the stand by the arena.
