How loyalty points rich are you?

So in the real world I'm skint all the time. But I have a habit of saving my points rather than frittering them:

Boots £44
Tesco £75
Waterstones £30 plus 7/10 stamps
Costa 7/8 beans - 1 more for a free drink
MacDonald enough points for a veggie deluxe

Wow so much self restraint

It's my husbands card really and apparently he's saving it for something special! Every so often, I suggest we use it for shopping, but he wants to hang onto it!

OneFrenchEgg · 26/02/2023 09:42

Love to know what he ends up buying!

I had £8 in nectar points but I spent £5 on a kettle bell weight as I've had to give up my gym membership (skint)

Loyalty points often just have to supplement income, e.g. if we run out of shampoo at the wrong end on the month I use my advantage points

I currently have £6 in boots and £1.50 in co op (I did have £2.25 but spent 75p on fruit pastilles yesterday as fancied a treat 🙂)

I don't accrue points much as I often spend them on essentials

7/8 beans at Costa
£63 at Waterstones
£5 at Boots

peachgreen · 26/02/2023 09:47

I’m on about £190 at Boots and not entirely sure what I’m saving them for!

Wow. Sometimes I do find it difficult to spend them. I'm getting a bit possessive of my Tesco ones.

I've got about £1250 in Nectar points. I'm saving them up for something, although I don't know what yet.

Everything else I redeem straight away, so I've only got a couple of pounds maximum on each card.

MaryKateDanaher · 26/02/2023 10:03

£5 Asda
£7 Tesco
£6 Boots
£10 Waterstones

I build them up over the year & blow them all at Christmas. Grin

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 26/02/2023 10:04

i have about £10 on my Boots card.
Nectar has similar. I did have £70 on it but used that during January. Tesco has about a £6 in vouchers. Coop £5.50 (that’s really hard to build up).

Girasoli · 26/02/2023 10:10

DH has saved up £250 worth of Nectar points - they will hopefully go towards our flight home from our holiday this summer.

Wow, that's impressive!

I was very happy to spend c.£300 of nectar points on a lawn mower.

We tend to save ours up to December and then do as much Christmas shopping as possible at Argos.

Dodecaheidyin · 26/02/2023 10:12

Watch your Waterstones points, mine expired and I lost £10.

I was the same with Boots, I didn't know there was a time limit on them.

soboredoflooking · 26/02/2023 10:14

Boots I have £42

Tesco maybe a few pounds I'm never in there don't have one nearby.

Nectar £14 - I don't shop much in Sainsbury but if u didn't know u can collect points through eBay purchases!

McDonald's over 11,000 I need to start using as they take them off u within a year if u don't use. Nearly enough for 3 Big Macs 👍

megletthesecond · 26/02/2023 10:15

£7 sainsburys
£8 boots
£10 Waterstones.

I know this off the top of my head as I'm being very strict and saving them this year so I can buy myself Xmas stocking fillers in the autumn.

Doliveira · 26/02/2023 10:16

Every six months I pay for the Sainsbury’s delivery pass with nectar points. So currently the only points I’ve got are £3 of nectar points.

oh and £8 of Boots ones!

lljkk · 26/02/2023 10:19

Always spend them as soon as. We really only have Nectar, though. No advantage in saving them up for us.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 26/02/2023 10:20

I remember my aunt and uncle going on a short break to Iceland in the first few years of Clubcard rewards.

My trip to Legoland pales in comparison.

I’ve currently got enough points for £85 off a hotel stay. I’m going to keep saving and go for a weekend away with DC hopefully. Won’t be Rekyavik though sadly 😁

Blanketpolicy · 26/02/2023 08:51

Tesco £159

We usually use them for delivery saver, RAC and occasionally some Denby.

The delivery saver is no longer x3 so need to rethink that one.

This has annoyed me with the delivery saver. I got a x3 one just before it expired so have until November but will probably stop deliveries with them then. Even if it was x2 or a special price I may do it! Seems a bit tight

SouthCountryGirl · 26/02/2023 10:36

£7.50 in Tesco
£38 in Boots

No idea what I have for Nectar. Rarely used now

tothelefttotheleft · 26/02/2023 10:39

Haven't Boots recently changed the rules on their loyalty scheme? Don't you have to spend them quicker now?

NobodyKnowsTiddlyPom · 26/02/2023 10:48

£125 Tesco club card
£150 ish on nectar
nothing in boots as I recently spent my £40 of points (about 2 years worth)
Nothing on sparks card as I don’t have one nearby since I moved.

UB40andaglassofwine · 26/02/2023 10:53

Can I spend Asda rewards on an online shop? I've only got £12 so far but do a big online shop weekly, so once it's gone up quite a bit it will come in useful.

derbylass81 · 26/02/2023 11:10

Lost all my boots points recently as they changed the 2 year rule to 1 year rule and I couldn't get to a store in time to spend them. Would have been make-up / perfume so couldn't buy online.

Annoyed. Don't shop in Boots anymore.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/02/2023 11:14

Well I thought I was quite loyalty/bonus rich until I read some of these posts.

I currently have about £45 of Nectar points because I know that if I spend them, they'll bring back the November double up. When that was running, I used to use them to get TTD fizzy wine for Christmas but they've stopped doing it and I don't want to just use them on normal shopping.

I also have around 550 points on my M&S credit card
1065 points in my Zooplus account (online pet food)
About £40 of unclaimed Quidco cashback, a similar amount from Natwest as they give me a fiver a month just for having an account and I think I have a £1.50 Clubcard voucher floating round somewhere - we don't shop at Tesco often enough for it to ever build up much.

I think I had a very small amount of Paperchase points but I assume they've just evaporated now they've gone bust.

But I must investigate the Asda app because they seem to give you money for various reasons and Moneysaving Expert said the other day you could get a free fiver just for signing up.

But I really hate that this is the way it is and that everywhere needs an app or a card to get a discount off an inflated price. I know they're called loyalty cards, but in reality few people are loyal to anywhere and we just end up with loads of apps/cards/points etc.

TellSomeoneElse · 26/02/2023 11:14

£11 in asda rewards
£2 on the Lidl app
£20.68 in boots points
2/3 of the way to a free soft play trip 😂
