Where do you buy your bras??

OK.

Bra shopping has reached desperate levels.

I hate shopping with a passion.

I'm a 34F/G depending on fit and my daughter is a 30D. We went bra shopping today and came home empty handed again.

Most places seems to cater for 32-40 AA-DD which doesn't cater for either of us.

What I am I missing??

I really don't want to spend a fortune on bras!

I usually end up in M&S but they only have a very limited supply outside of granny bras and minimisers.

I'm aware this is going to be because I'm missing something.

I also find that the more upmarket places tend to have more choice in 30-32-34.

Yeah, interesting...

I tried on 14 bras last Thursday and came away with 1. But I considered that a win!

I need to adopt your positive mindset! Bra shopping makes me irrationally angry 🤣

Have you tried different M&S stores? I've always seen plenty of bigger sizes in my two big local ones.

I haven't tbh. The smaller one in town closed a few years ago so I already go to a large out of town one. I might have to try somewhere different.

I have seen them have a larger range of 38+ F/G but very little in the 34 range.

Looks like I'll have to look at Bravissimo. I feel like a big of a fraud shopping there though. I mean, my sister in law shops there and her boobs are big! Mine are very modest really.

I get the twin packs of underwired sports bras from marks and Spencer's and they are sooooo comfortable. Wear them all the time, even to bed. When I go running I put a shock absorber bra over the top )so wear 2 bras) and it keeps everything still with no chafing or discomfort

Haven't bought one from her yet, but as soon as I have the ££ I'm going to ...her instagram is great...she does real life home visit fittings, or video link ones.

Currently am wearing Asda, because I'm sick of m&s bras falling apart

Soozikinzii · 21/02/2023 18:42

Pour moi are good but all online as far as I know.

AMA2023 · 21/02/2023 18:43

Elomi for me usually via JD williams when they have a discount code!

AreBearsCatholic · 21/02/2023 18:43

First, try abrathatfits on Reddit. Their calculator is better than any fitting.
I buy triumph or freya (30K). But different brands suit different shapes — again, lots of recommendations on abrathatfits.

sauvignonplonk1 · 21/02/2023 18:44

Another vote for Bravissimo, make a day of it and go to their Oxford St store, you won't be disappointed.

AC2022 · 21/02/2023 18:44

I agree with @welshweasel

I shopped around for years but finally settled on Freya which I buy from bravissimo or next. They do a good range of plunge bras. I’m a 34G. I’ve never got in with M&S as the shoulder strap isn’t always fully adjustable on larger cups which doesn’t give me the right support.

Ooh I'm quite excited at the prospect of that! I've just had a quick look at her website.

AreBearsCatholic

I'll have a look there too.

I use the proper bra calculator I got from mumsnet years ago. That seems fairly accurate... but I'll take a look. Thanks.

M & S

I only have two and replace only when broken or in holes. Yes £30 a shot is a bit pricy, but I have never found anything cheaper and as good quality, and then end up buying them more frequently and bring less comfortable.

gingercat02 · 21/02/2023 18:51

I buy all my underwear from Belle Lingerie online. Loads of sizes and styles and decent prices. www.belle-lingerie.co.uk

GreekDogRescue · 21/02/2023 18:51

Why do m and s mix all the sizes up? I’ve given up shopping there as it takes ages to find your size

MajorieEks · 21/02/2023 18:53

Bravissimo! I’ve tried all sorts of shops including M and S and they’re the only ones that have actually given me well fitting bras that hoik me up enough but also feel comfortable. I’ve persuaded so many friends and family to go and they all now only shop there too

TreesAtSea · 21/02/2023 18:54

I'd echo the suggestion to try a large M&S branch. I hadn't bought bras there in ages as I'd been happy with those I found in supermarket ranges, but that's out now that most no longer have changing rooms.
Went in M&S last week and was very impressed and came out happy with some good quality, well-fitting and good value bras.

confusedlots · 21/02/2023 18:54

My favourite bras are from Asda!

Pinkfrogs45 · 21/02/2023 18:55

Curvy Kate! Recently found them and I love their bras

Caulidop · 21/02/2023 19:00

Bravissimo will be great for both you and your daughter for finding brands/styles that fit well. I wouldn't say it's an expensive shop, but don't think decent bras are inexpensive. I'm a 30G and have never found other high street shops that stock smaller than 32 back sizes as standard, it's rare. Even M&S don't really do 30 back, it's a few bras rather than standard when I've been in store. Brands I've had joy with are Panache, Curvy Kate, Freya. Bravissimo's own brand never worked well for me. Only other shops have been independents stocking same brands. Happy shopping OP.

bcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyza · 21/02/2023 19:01

My best bras are from yours clothing.

Tallulasdancingshoes · 21/02/2023 19:02

Bravissimo but they’re not cheap. I’m a 34/36 G/GG depending on style and have resigned myself to the fact that I cannot buy cheap bras. However brastop do usually have some good offers. I just prefer to try them on in a shop.

SagelyNodding · 21/02/2023 19:07

I often get lucky in Primark! 34F/G. All my day to day bras come from there actually!

hookiewookie29 · 21/02/2023 19:14

Yours clothing( online ). Not bad prices either

TheEmperorIsNaked · 21/02/2023 19:20

I used to buy in store at M&S but got fed up with the inconsistency in sizing across the different ranges. I tried online recently and had to send everything back.

I managed to get a couple of Fantasie bras in Next online that were £30 ish each and they are much better than anything I’ve got in M&S over the years.

NancyJoan · 21/02/2023 19:20

John Lewis or Bravissimo. This is not the shopping trip on which to try and economise. Well fitting bras make everything you wear look better.

AlaskanSnow · 21/02/2023 19:23

I use an independent shop local to me, and an independent online retailer (on Instagram as bellarosalingerie)

Brands I wear are Pour Moi, Curvy Kate and Freya
