Am I a snob?

My friend lives around a hour away and invited me over hers to go to a pub.
She said it's a nice family pub
So over I go.
In my head I'm expecting a nice pub with a fire, nice food etc
Oh no she took me to the local working men's club.
Which didn't even look like a pub, more like a big shed.
Anyway we walk in and there's about 8 people in-all old men, football on the tv and inside it resembled a school disco hall.
Random tables with 80s seats
Then my friend says it gets busier lately.
So off we go sitting on a table whilst the football match is on-every 15 mins she goes out for a vape..and I'm just sat there watching my clock.
She gets really drunk and says "shall we go sit with them" (and points to some men about 80)
I ask why ?
And she says it might be fun
So off she goes screeching "hiyaaaaaaa yous alright -had a good night -brilliant in here isn't it"

At this point all I can think of is a takeaway and home
Worst night of my life -am I snob ?

Sounds like HELL to me 🤮

I agree, a working man’s club, how utterly distasteful 😂

I just laughed, what a nightmare 😂 No, you're not a snob.

God that sounds awful.

Horses for courses.
You are perfectly entitled not to enjoy or wish to partake in certain scenarios.
Just be polite & extract yourself quietly and without fanfare if ever it happens again OP as you tread the path of life.

@Warspite One must be cautious whilst walking the path of life Halo

I've got loads of fond memories of hanging out at the club my grandmother worked at when I was little. So I feel conflicted here 😀

Maybe she'd been before on a particular evening and had a really good time? Maybe she thought it'd be quiet and the drinks cheap so you could get a really good chat in?

To answer your question: I don't think you're a snob, but I think judging the venue is distracting you from the important thing, which is your friendship.

It seems to me that you met this woman last week. Therefore, you couldn't possibly know her, so you are perfectly reasonable in being surprised at her choices

However, if she's a long-term friend? You're being rather disingenuous as you must know her well enough to know that she likes a drink and gets a bit lairy

But not snobby. You're not being snobby

Different strokes for different folks

We went to a one-off event at a rugby club recently and there was a girl there like this. Mid twenties, off her face drunk at lunchtime and flirting hard with all the grim old men, I think she got off on all the attention. Is your friend short on love in her life?
