How do you have pyjama day?

Do you just stay in the PJs you woke up in? Or do you shower and change into fresh PJs? I do the first, but then by the evening I feel skanky, and it sort of undoes all the relaxation effect of having a pyjama day.

I've never had a pj day in 50 years, why would you want to? Don't own a pair of pj's

Kranke · 15/02/2023 20:30

Do those that feel grubby change their pjs every night? I wear a vest or nightie to bed and get at least three nights wear out before I wash them. I shower in the morning, not sure that makes a difference, and obviously clean pair of pants daily!

2Rebecca · 15/02/2023 20:36

If I'm in night wear all day I'm ill and usually in bed. I've no desire to spend all day in night clothes but usually wear very little in bed and like few clothes and a thick duvet. I do wear jogging bottoms and leggings a lot if just in the house

Laze about til lunchtime, shower and put on some comfy lounge wear.

WaddleAway · 15/02/2023 20:39

I don’t wear pyjamas to bed, just put them on when I get up, so if I have a pyjama day (rare, sadly!) I’d put a clean pair on that morning.

CaravaggiosCat · 15/02/2023 20:40

Late morning shower and hair and light makeup then loungeset which look like pyjamas. Couldn't just float around in pyjamas I slept in. Even when I had covid and again 3 hrs post labour, I did the same thing except it was more dragging myself in the shower. My kids think I'm mad.....they may have a point. 🤔

Zola1 · 15/02/2023 20:40

Don't tend to have a pyjama day as there's always someone who needs taking somewhere, something needed from the shop, a walk to the park because the kids are climbing the walls etc. I usually get a shower and put joggers on if we are intending to stay home though as I feel minging if I don't do that. The kids will stay in their PJs from night before til they're forced into something else

I think some people need to get some more comfortable clothes. I don't like getting food and food smells on night clothes. I don't see the attraction at all. Layering is easier with my normal clothes

I get up, have a shower and change into clean clothes - not pajamas but normally leggings and a baggy hoody or jumper.

Yeah same, it is just easier for me as I figure I will have a shower at some stage in the day so may as well get on with it and out the way so I just put comfy normal clothes on

Sodullincomparison · 15/02/2023 20:45

DD4 requested a pyjama day on Sunday - our first one. I didn’t know what she was expecting but at 7am, she appeared at my bedside saying “pyjama day!” With new pjs and a onesie to change into.

then she wanted to spend all day in our bedroom so we swiftly went downstairs. She wore them all day and played out in the back garden as well for a bit.

then bath and new pjs for bedtime.

we all had cabin fever by mid afternoon so don’t think we’ll be doing one again soon.

I've never had a pyjama day either, the thought makes me uncomfortable for some odd reason

My ideal would be to have a day with no urgent tasks, kids' sports, or work & to be able to relax & read, go for a coffee, potter in the garden

Eeeek! Is that not a pyjama day?? I think a PJ day is just doing what you want instead of a normal everyday routine, with no responsibilites. Have I got it wrong?? 😬😬

I wouldn't be in PJs to do any of that though, nor would I stay at home - I'd be up, out, going places. The relaxation would come from having no 'tasks' to do!

Perhaps I'm taking the PJ part too literally!

EarringsandLipstick · 15/02/2023 20:48

Having a pyjama day does not necessarily mean being stuck indoors all day. I'll often enjoy the garden in my PJs. Being a jeans wearer, it's really lovely to feel the breeze ripple my dressing gown around me.

Oh sorry, I see this now.

I didn't realise this - but you couldn't do out for coffee for example, in your PJs?

There's no way I could garden in PJs! But I live in a large housing estate, overlooked etc so that would feel weird! I can imagine if you lived more rurally or in a large detached house with big garden, it would be easier.

The shower comments remind me of one thread recently where people said they only had sex with their husbands/partners after the had both had a shower!! Can you imagine.

DottieUncBab · 15/02/2023 20:12

Definitely put new pyjamas on, although my idea of a pyjama day is to wake up, go for a run, then come back shower and spend the day in pyjamas

That so funny, I don't think that's bad or anything I just could never imagine doing it. Once I'd been up & out, I'd want to be in 'proper' clothes. (But that might fresh leggings / top so possibly not that much different, except you could go out in them).

Ponderingwindow · 15/02/2023 20:51

I shower every evening and puT in fresh pajamas. I don’t feel gross in the morning. If I stayed in my pajamas all day, I shower and put on a fresh pair before bed.

It's funny, I'm single (separated & no relationship since marriage ended) and when I was married, I didn't have to have a shower before sex.

But having read this a lot on MN since, I think if I'm ever in that situation again, I would actually like both to have a shower pre-sex!

liveforsummer · 15/02/2023 20:53

Stay in and likely shower and change in the evening- if it's the result of a bad hangover though i might not muster the energy 😆

anotherscroller · 15/02/2023 20:54

Why???
i shower in the morning and that’s quite enough for anyone I should think

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 15/02/2023 20:54

I thought this was more of a, how do you manage to have pyjama days - like how do you fit them in, which obvious speaks to my current state of mind!

Craftybodger · 15/02/2023 20:57

I depends on the day! Sometimes just bung on a dressing gown and shower before bed, other days shower as usual in the morning and then dress in PJs but more likely slouchy home clothes or Oodie equivalent.

Justalittlebitduckling · 15/02/2023 21:04

For a lazy day I shower and then wear comfy sports clothes.

Lovetotravel123 · 15/02/2023 21:04

I would love to know how to get a pyjama day. I always have stuff that I need to do. What’s the secret to getting one?

Tbf I answered as if it was a thing when it actually is not 🤣. Am currently on holiday from work and still have to be up and out before 6am.

20viona · 15/02/2023 21:07

So if I was having a full on pj day I would wake up and shower and then put pjs on. I sleep in a nightie so not got grotty pjs.
