I've just been to the post box with a birthday card and to the library to change my book. What's more I walked there and back. What old ways are you hanging onto?

OP posts:

I don't think any of that is particularly outdated/last century 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cards, same as you.

I still have a landline

I pay cash or card, not by phone

I have DVDs and CDs and I don't stream TV.

I write postcards.

Saltywalruss · 13/02/2023 16:32

I have a VCR.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 13/02/2023 16:33

I write cards and letters, and love receiving them.

I hand write lists etc

Alighttouchonthetiller · 13/02/2023 16:37

I behave so as not to cause any upset or offence to others when in public, even if this means minor inconvenience to myself, such as not eating something delicious, but smelly, in a train carriage or not watching videos on my phone without headphones when on the bus.

I also don't eat in the street, which might seem positively Victorian.

RonniePickering · 13/02/2023 16:37

I ride a Penny-Farthing to work.

Hbh17 · 13/02/2023 16:37

I post birthday cards.
I only have one TV in the house.
I listen to the radio a lot - & usually on an actual radio.
I have never owned a microwave & don't know how to use one.
I never have takeaways.
I have never Facetimed or videocalled anyone, and I intend that I will never have to do this, coz it sounds awful.
I have never taken a selfie, because I don't see the point.

But I have ditched cash, & I never watch "live" terrestrial TV.

Hbh17 · 13/02/2023 16:38

Oh, and I totally agree with the person who hates eating in the street - horrible habit.

Eating in the street is fairly common in most parts of the world. The Victorians taught the English middle classes to scorn street eating as it was done by people who needed to frequent soup kitchens and hence were poor and undesirable. I presume that rating in public is acceptable when one has a Fortnum and Mason picnic hamper at Glyndebourne.

(Note that I am not in favour of people dropping food all over the street, it attracts vermin, but that is not the same thing).

LaFemmeDamnee · 13/02/2023 16:43

I go to my local library every week. It's always busy with children. Not last century at all.

I did all those things yesterday. Didn't at any point think I was doing anything old-fashioned

YewandOak · 13/02/2023 16:51

I still watch dvds,in fact I recently bought a new tv that has a built in dvd player.
I watch ''live'' tv
I pay using cash or card,not phone/watch

JaneJeffer · 13/02/2023 16:55

I can go about my business without a takeaway coffee in hand

I ride a Penny-Farthing to work.

Are you the person I met getting the train to London with one? He said it wasn't the most comfortable bike but he enjoyed it.

I darn socks when they get holes in.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 13/02/2023 16:58

I still own and use a VCR.

On the rare occasions I have a takeaway, I walk to the shop to order it and take it home.

Many of the above too.

redspottedmug · 13/02/2023 17:04

No TV in the bedroom.

Leftbutcameback · 13/02/2023 17:04

Absolutely love my local library, although I use an app to reserve books!

I have DVDs still, although we use a gaming box to play them.

So both a bit last century but a bit this one too!

shout out to librarians BTW - thanks for your lovely spaces

Leftbutcameback · 13/02/2023 17:05

I also send post cards from holidays still - forgot about that one

Bluekerfuffle · 13/02/2023 17:06

I have a set of cd’s in my 16 year old car and an old style mobile phone that I only use for phone calls and the odd photo.

Newnamenewname109870 · 13/02/2023 17:08

I send postcards when I go away.

Thank you cards.

Letters to some friends.

Anything written I love 😄

kingtamponthefurred · 13/02/2023 17:09

I occasionally listen to cassette tapes on an old cassette player. I quite often borrow books from the library, but usually I have previewed them by downloading the free sample chapter to my kindle.

Lelophants · 13/02/2023 17:13

Some people are really grumpy grouches! It’s obvious what the op means.

I do thank you cards and I love walking everywhere. I love going to different shops for different things, like fresh fruit from grocers and bakery for bread. Granted this is pure luck that I have good ones near me. And obviously it’s more expensive than a supermarket. As I’m home a lot more this is my extra ‘spend’ I guess and I want to support local.

Dyslexicwonder · 13/02/2023 17:13

I cook from scratch using fresh ingredients, can't see the point of hello fresh etc. I can't wear pyjamas out of the house or even downstairs to breakfast. I send birthday cards.

Lelophants · 13/02/2023 17:13

And on the weekend I actually buy a newspaper!

AustralianCrunch · 13/02/2023 17:14

I use a filofax
