We need to repaint and don't know what colour. Currently it is 2 tones of grey and DH hates it. We want to go all one colour.

What colour is yours?

Mine is a Dulux yellow, it's a lovely, light, soft buttery yellow. It's warm and cosy in the winter but lovely and light in summer.

My DH doenst like it but he doesn't often have anything nice to say about anything I choose so...

Sounds lovely to me.

It’s a dark blue (Dulux sapphire salute). If I were to repaint I’d only do it to go a shade darker blue. I love it in winter, but in summer I find it ever so slightly too light. I love dark walls!

I'm thinking along the same lines! Ours is currently F&B Olive (from the archived range) but as one end of the room is so bright in the sunshine (south facing) that the colour looks much lighter. I'm considering going a bit darker - hence the sample painted on the wall in the first pic.

At the darker end we have a feature chimney breast wall with a vintage Arts and Crafts style wallpaper that came from the US.

Egyptian cotton. Which is a beigey neutral colour, with some warm yellow in the fireplace.

Red sofas and curtains, dusky red/pink rug.

The front is light green and the back a mid blue. Last painted about 25 years ago when we moved in.

Ours is yellow, more a muted/mustard yellow with navy curtains/blind and light shade.

I still love it. It's warmed toned so nice in winter but reflects the sunshine so looks bright in the summer.

Tranquil Dawn - in the process of redecorating, we'll be removing the beige carpet as there is nice hardwood underneath

Is it shiny or matt?

It's matt but the modern emulsion is fully washable and really hard wearing. I won't have to decorate again for years.

Is it in good condition? You could be in for a bit of hard, messy work - we have wood floors. I wax oiled them.

Our front room has a white ceiling, mid sage green from skirting to picture rail and a pale sage from above the picture rail to the coving.

I have just painted mine Egyptian Cotton although it had turned out a lot greyer than I had hoped. I had it in my old house and it was definitely more on the beige side there.

SinnerBoy · 16/02/2023 12:54

What colour did you put it over?

Christmascracker0 · 16/02/2023 12:57

Egyptian cotton is definitely different in different lights but I’m so sure the colour has changed to be more grey recently!

I will come back with pics later.

I think it has, I looked back at some photos of my old house from about 3 or 4 years ago and there is not a hint of grey. It's annoying as I don't have the energy to repaint. In both cases I painted on fresh plaster.

LozMarieFielder · 16/02/2023 13:20

Ours is white/off-white.

White goes best if you have colourful/wooden furniture, which we do because we like mid century style.

A light sage also goes well with a lot of living rooms.

Yes, luckily it's in pretty good condition. There are some paint drips along the skirting boards (the previous owner's decorating skills were shocking) but I've been able to scrape them off the floor without scratching the varnish in a test patch, so fingers crossed it won't require much work.

SinnerBoy · 16/02/2023 18:26

I'll cross mine on your behalf; I did 95% of ours and then got a specialist in to clean the last horrors off. Including 120 year old pitch pine varnish. Don't ask!

We have Almost Oyster and then one wall Intense Truffle.
