Alright, she's not really my baby anymore, she's 11, and she wanted a dramatic change, but oh my word, all those years of washing and brushing and plaiting...and now look!!

(We're donating the hair.)

My baby just had all her hair cut off!!!

What a wonderful gift to other kids she's made. Good for her, very brave!

Totally appreciate how 'end-of-an-era' it feels for YOU, though.
Console yourself you've raised a thoughtful and fearless youngster.

Beautiful hair!! It will be a big adjustment for you but I bet she looks great!

AperolWhore · 10/02/2023 16:33

Oh my gosh what fabulous hair! I pay £800 a few times a year for extensions to give me hair like that!

Beautiful ! Worth every brush stroke, what a little star you have raised . She’s going to make a child so happy 😊

ironhelp · 10/02/2023 16:41

What absolutely wonderful hair. But what an even more wonderful daughter you have!

redundantsoon · 10/02/2023 17:01

Beautiful hair! How lovely of her to do that.

what kind of length has she been left with? I hope you embraces her new look.

redundantsoon · 10/02/2023 17:02

I hope She embraces her new look

SoCunningYouCanStickATailOnItAndCallItAFox · 10/02/2023 17:04

Aww that's great. <sniffs, wipes away tear>

I hope she enjoys exploring a new image. 😍

Dodecaheidyin · 10/02/2023 17:04

What a lovely thing to do.

Is your DD enjoying her new hair? Is she feeling the draught on her neck?

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 10/02/2023 17:05

She wanted to go really short - grade 2 back and sides, bit longer on top!

She looks beautiful - but I've warned to expect people to mistake her for a boy now.

My daughter did the same at her age and felt really proud to donate her hair.
She now has a short back and sides and LOVES it and says she never wants long hair ever again (although she loved it at the time!).

If it's anything like Pink's, that's awesomely cool 😀

What a brilliant thing to do. Your baby is growing up !

Hi @MadameSzyszkoBohusz beautiful hair! So nice of you to donate it x

Very cool. People of her own age will mostly not assume she is a boy as long hair/short hair worn by both. And she won't care what olds think Grin

I've just welled up thinking about how happy her beautiful hair is going to make another child! It must be emotional for you saying goodbye to it after all those years of nurture. I hope she loves her new look 🙂

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 10/02/2023 17:37

Beautiful hair! My daughter did her 3rd donation last year, she says it’s time to donate again when she starts sitting on it lol.

She does - and she looks great. It's just going to take a bit of getting used to! By me, at least.

I think this the least hair she's ever had - she was born looking like someone had stuck a comedy wig on her.

Great kid you've got there!

can you post a picture post 'cut'. Give me a Green face if you want to!

lively looking hair! All your nurturing of it was worth it!

ShowOfHands · 10/02/2023 17:49

To reassure you, my eldest has been shaving her hair since she was 11 and she's never been mistaken for a boy. Her 11yr old brother with long hair is misgendered all the time though (he doesn't care!).

What a brilliant thing she's done. I bet you'll do a double take every time you see her for a few days yet.

Whatmarbles · 10/02/2023 17:50

I bet she looks amazing.
She will absolutely love not having to wash, dry and brush that lot!

Namechange101111 · 10/02/2023 17:50

Well, if her experience is anything like my daughter's, her friends will be envious!

I hope she loves it (and her head doesn't feel too cold while she gets used to it).
