Vinted account blocked?

Ellemeg82 · 08/02/2023 14:00

Has anyone had any experience with vinted permanently blocking their account?

I started selling on their about 3 months ago, just clearing out old clothes that me and the kids had outgrown.

I've got all positive feedback on 50+ transactions.

Then I decided to sell some converse trainers....

So I bought them last summer from Schuh, wore them a few times but they rubbed and hurt my instep so they've just been sitting in the cupboard.
I listed them on Vinted but within hours a message popped up to tell me my account had been blocked due to "counterfeit" items.

I message them, sent photos of the box and even the receipt. These are genuine converse! But they just replied telling me they were counterfeit and I couldn't prove otherwise (?!) and therefore my account was permanently blocked.

I'm upset about this as I was enjoyed making a few quid whilst clearing out my wardrobes.
Seems unfair to permanently block me without warning.

Anyone had this happen and did you get your account back?

Thank you. That's a relief! I still think I'll carry on taking it out regularly rather than let it add up!

For anyone having problems, you can email [email protected] and will be able to speak to someone. I've seen a lot of people on the facebook groups get their issues sorted by emailing

My account was blocked, and the only illicit activity here is that they never responded to any of the desperate attempts to contact them. There is no customer service at all, and they do not seem to realise that they have a technical fault sending many customers, who try and buy from the purchase button to the chat facility instead of enabling the purchase.
All is also an auto chat, and I think their system is faulty rather than it being a member of staff blocking users.

In any case, this is one of the worst managed platforms.

I'm a buyer and this has just happened to me! They've accused me of violating their terms and conditions but I've got absolutely no idea what I've done wrong. Like others, I just keep getting automated responses. Thanks for the suggestions posted upthread to try and resolve it, tho I'm so pissed off, I'm not sure I want to give them any more of my business!

Yes I went round in circles with vinted and couldn't get my account unblocked. I bought the converse from Schuh. Showed the box, receipt - even my bank statement showing the purchase! They just kept telling me they were counterfeit and that was their final response.
I would warn anyone selling anything branded on there to be careful as even if you have proof they don't listen to you and your account may be blocked.

This seems so random and must be some kind of weird algorithm error. In the past few months I’ve sold a Mulberry Bag; Swarovski jewellery; Ugg Boots; Havianas; and a pair of Dr Martens and I’ve never once been asked to provide proof of purchase.

chrisconcoco · 29/11/2023 19:33

Same here. Emailed them and that has been 1 week again. No helpful response.

Bettybo75 · 02/02/2024 10:42

Thanks for the email address Nuca, l tried and in fact after days of automated responses l think l got to talk to a human being!!! However after giving my details in 15 different email l got an automated response Gestapo style saying that l was blocked forever and there was nothing l could ever do. l got blocked because l changed my phone number and l could not verify it as l coud not access my account. So l got accused of multiple accounts! my hb opened an account but because it is same IP he got permanently blocked in 10 minutes!!!

Bettybo75 · 02/02/2024 10:46

I have never in my life seen a company big or small with no phone number to call!!! it is insane! I have being buying and selling 2nd hand items for decades and never got treated so badly. I am back on ebay but it is not same really. Good luck everyone.

bigman001 · 02/02/2024 20:17

i got a life ban as i made a mistake regarding a sale i made, the batty holes, stated i was good to sell, 1hour later another email asking for info then block

Ell59 · 06/02/2024 21:49

The same happened to me three weeks ago ,i bought two items successfully ,then another i had to return to seller as size was wrong but the seller never received the item and as far as i know still has not .My fourth and last time Vinted paid out for an item i never received ,so i contacted the seller but she insisted she sent the goods ,the tracking number never existed and i only had map coordinates to try finding it that led me to a leisure center in London 300 hundred miles from me .
I contacted her again the next week she said i will send them that day nothing again by this time i am getting irate so contacted her again and once again another excuse so i said just pay back my money she went nuts soitoldher i was reporting her she wanted my email my bank details itoldher nososhe swore at me and said what do you think i amgoing to do steal your money i said well who knows you have lied since December !!

Next think after contacting Vinted to report this situation ,they msg to say that they Blocked my Account for fraudulent activity and i have no idea Who When Or Why then won't give an answer and i appealed but still they will not unblock it

Ell59 · 06/02/2024 21:57

They also told me if i make another account they will block that also

MirelaDatcu · 18/02/2024 21:41

It happed to me, I tried to make another account and they blocked me for good. I want the account back but I don't think I will have it back 😅 I have sent them an email and they replied saying that it's their final decision to have it blocked. Do you think I have any chance of getting it back?

Helpmeiiam · 19/02/2024 14:59

@MirelaDatcu Why did they block you?
I got blacked because they said I was selling counterfeit trainers so I sent them my receipt and more photos as proof and they unblocked me

@Helpmeiiam because I have multiple accounts and I have sent them an email and said that I wanted to have another one for my country

ClootyDumpling · 23/02/2024 11:31

Yes, exactly this! I got set up on Vinted, went to all the bother of ironing a few things, taking photos, making them look tidy and attractive and had a couple of sales straightway. I got in a bit of a faff about the shipping but sorted that out and sent off my sales packages. Then Vinted blocked me on the grounds of fraudulent activity. I appealed and they have requested more info and photos. In the meantime they have my money, I’ve despatched my clothes and have nothing to show for it. Like you, I just wanted a clear-out and to make a bit of cash for essentials. It’s infuriating- especially as they keep advertising telling how easy and marvellous it is.

ClootyDumpling · 23/02/2024 11:36

Absolutely - it’s really difficult to navigate as a seller and unclear. All very unfriendly and unhelpful.

50plusinfluencer · 13/03/2024 14:59

Just spotted this thread and I'm a bit late to the party but I've had my account blocked on Vinted because Vinted thinks I have multiple accounts. So, making a new account won't help, presumably. For the record I've only ever had one account. If I don't get that back, with an apology, I'll be leaving the app for good and warning others about it.
Seller beware.

Kaco1966 · 30/03/2024 08:19

I’ve just had the same issue. Had my account for a while and started selling a month ago - having a massive clear out of loads of vintage designer stuff I’ve hoarded over about 20 years. Everything was going well until a buyer asked for a refund on a pair of vintage Chanel glasses. I’d listed as ‘vintage’ and that they were almost 20 years old and she wanted a refund as they were ‘old’ - Vinted stepped in and asked for proof they were authentic - I sent photos of authenticity certificate and unique ID number but they then permanently banned me for selling counterfeit items (nothing I am selling is fake) and I have £141 in my pending balance which I can’t access and I also can’t access my messages. I have emailed but the response is just that ‘even blocked members can access messages and balance’ which obviously I can’t. I am absolutely raging 😡 It seems it doesn’t matter what evidence you provide - feels like I’m fighting a losing battle. I just want to access my money and I’ll never use Vinted again

Dogarecute · 31/07/2024 13:23

This happened to me two! I created another account with a different phone number and then they accused me of multiple acc! This is so unfair

leisaem · 06/08/2024 22:10

I got a message from vinted saying my account permanently blocked because I listed my baby's converse. camt even access my m3ssages for items I also bought on there an not received an bought same day I was blocked but money gone out my bank. oyster ridiculous how it works. won't use it again now but also 2ant my items or my money back

User09088 · 06/08/2024 22:30

I sold some ASDA George white pumps that looked like converse.

I think I said something along the lines of “converse style” in the description, I was sent an email warning me that the listing had been removed. I uploaded again without mentioning “converse” they sold within a couple of days.

i guess your situation is different because yours were genuine, and you have the evidence to prove that.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 06/08/2024 23:01

I've had my account blocked and then unblocked a while later. I can't remember exactly why though, as it was a while ago - I think it was because I'd listed something that wasn't allowed, though there were others just like it on sale.

As others have said, the customer service and support is appalling.

Luckily, even after being blocked I was still able to withdraw my balance and receive updates about bought items that I had sent to sellers.

I now withdraw any money as soon as it's in the Vinted account as I've heard stories about people not being able to access their money after being banned. Apparently, they ask for photo ID before you are allowed to withdraw, despite never requesting photo ID when the account was opened. I believe this is when the cash gets to a certain limit though, and my funds have never been close to that limit.
